I appreciate that you make these videos, but I feel compelled to correct the record. I sell John Deere equipment, and Frontier, Pronovost, Normand, Erskin and Blue Diamond snow blowers. John Deere offers both 64” and 74” Tivar cutting edges for these inverted snowblowers. The kits are Deere numbers 5RDF0084, and 5RDF0086. The 74 inch retails for $867.91, and should be installed by professional.
I have a customer with cobblestone and crushed rock surface on his driveway and doesn’t want to clear it down to the surface. Customers with asphalt driveways usually do, which is where this cutting edge comes in. I owned an inverted Pronovost Puma, and loved it. Driving over the snow and then blowing it was no problem. I now have a Erskin front-mounted snowblower and I miss having my loader and snowblower at the same time. I think this is an excellent choice for the discerning homeowner. Full disclosure, your Deere dealer should’ve informed you there is a cutting edge for your inverted snowblower. And Deere should make it easier to find, putting this optional cutting edge front and center on their quoting software. I think this is a good snowblower for a homeowner.

Lot’s of people argue about the driving over it first but it really is a non issue! I have had much better scrape quality with these inverted snowblowers over just about any front mount snowblower.

Thank you for your opinions. I have been considering a pull type blower for clearing my property and my neighbors. I'm in lower Michigan so we don't get large snowfalls, but I do need to back drag near garages. I feel the weight issue is easily fixed though, I could always add weights to it.
I think it would be a great option for you! you would definitely fit the criteria for the ideal owner for it!
Have you heard of the Muskox? Its front mounted blower for a skidsteer that works like a conventional snowblower and then rotates forward for back drag blowing from up close to a garage, building or an obstacle. Pretty innovative I believe. Not sure if they have a model for compact tractor yet. You would need to do a little research on that.
Yes I have! They are a phenomenal blower! I have looked into them but as of now they only have skid steer models. There is a similar snowblower for a tractor called the PXPL. It has the ability to go forward and backdrag in the same swipe.
Makes sense from a commercial standpoint. I picked up a 1164 with hydraulic chute rotation for $4700.00 brand new. I will be using it for personal use in Michigan and it will do awesome for that. I did look at the commercial units while I was at the dealer and they are a lot beefier. I don’t feel like John Deere pushes the frontier unit to be commercial though. At least my dealer doesn’t.
I agree with you and being in Michigan, you will be in the perfect area for it with your type of snowfalls. I definitely do not think that John Deere advertises it as a commercial unit, but it definitely needs some better engineering for it to be a solid long term residential unit.

Always go with pronovost if you want to be the king in blowing snow!! i got p680 pronovost its a beasts and its the king of snowblower mine is pared with mahindra 1635
Pronovost makes a solid unit! I picked up a used Normand because I was unable to get my hands on a Pronovost. I would love to get my hands on one someday!
Most/many frontier products are re-badged implements from other manufacturers 🇺🇸🗽
Well I hope you realize why there a price deference , and FYI this will also apply on everything you will be buying in the future when your using for commercial use you got to up for the better item the first time because you will end up paying twice for everything trust me Just saying Yves from Canada
Yeah, no kidding! I have finally learned my lesson I think after doing it a few too many times. I can tell you that I am much happier with my used Normand!

Condition and availability, being a nonissue? So, what commercial unit would you recommend for a 40 horse tractor (JD3039R)?
Anyone paying more than $5 thousand for a compact tractor blower, should be placed under psychological observation.
If choosing a blower, the conventional style works best. Packing snow w/ tires prior to removal is foolish.
This is an absurd comment but I understand your point! With my inverted snowblower I was able to increase my efficiency from 50 residential driveways to now close to 125. That is an increase of over $40,000 each year. For a homeowner I can agree but as a commercial guy I can’t fathom going back to a conventional blower and my clients have been 10x happier with this style of blower! Please do your research before commenting something so silly!
@@davidslawnandlandscape Fortunately your clients have low expectations. If you operated in a true snow belt w/ accompanying wind gusts, you might understand the deficiency of your remedy.
@@billupstateny9151 I think living in the rural plains of Eastern, SD with each snow storm accompanied by 40-60mph winds helps add credibility to my claims. I definitely will not argue with you though as you seem to have it all figured out. Thanks for watching!
@@davidslawnandlandscape We all have opinions, mine no more valid than others. Experience tells us that deep snow is generally pushed or blown as opposed to pulled. Believe the affected surface has some bearing. If all customers have asphalt/concrete then cleaning snow that has been driven over seems more feasible. Your annual snowfall is also relative. Last year our area had two major storms, one accumulated 4+ feet in a short period. Nothing opened roads/drives short of FEL tractor/wheel loaders. Whatever machine serves your purpose, buy it by all means. I objected to the cost. A nearby manufacturer offers an 84 inch conventional blower for $3750. Includes limited freight. The monies earned are always determined by the input cost. Best of luck this year, Be profitable.🗽🇺🇸
