I really concentrate on getting even tempo, I go to swing calibration then the range and hit 20-30 shots getting fairly consistent results. Then I go to play and it’s all over the place, slow, fast, alternately & rarely perfect. with what feels like the same tempo and as the range and every swing. Frustrating. Another little thing I’ve noticed is, if my shot lands on the green but short most times it gets a dead bounce & if I’m pin high or slightly past it rolls forever. This happens On various courses and greens. I do look at firmness and green layout before every shot. Sometimes I play short to allow for a downhill roll and vice versa yet even after studying greens layout it seems to happen regular going against the roll of the green!? Tried spin and other adjustments too. I just know that more than often than not, if it’s short it’s gonna dead bounce & pin high it’s gonna roll thru. No matter what I try.
Yes! You straightened me right out with the fast backswing advice. I focus on intentionally being fast with my back pull(it feels unnaturally fast to me) and my consistency has improved a lot. I think I was trying to match my backswing to the animation on screen, which will throw you off badly. Thanks for sharing the info
This is an excellent point, backswing speed is a harmless thing to experiment with to try for better consistency. I recently transitioned to mouse, but when I was on controller I sped up my backswing. For me it was for the sake of treating my whole swing as one particular timing. I used the sound the stick made at bottom and top to create a beat/rest/beat rythym in my head for 100% normal shots. It got to the point I could just close my eyes and time the swing with sound and get some decent consistency. Another thing that helped my tempo/swingpath both on controller & mouse, is be mindful of your thumb/hand position on every shot. Even a millimeter or two of difference in where you put your thumb/hand on the stick/mouse can change how straight your swing is or even affect your tempo. Like if you put your thumb closer to the front of the stick, it's more likely you'll get a slower swing as you thumb needs to end up higher and closer to the end of its range where you might decelerate a little. Basically experiment like crazy if you're struggling. You never know what weird thing you'll find to help you get more consistent. Right now I'm messing with hand/arm start and end positions on mouse to see how I can improve my tempo there. Hmm, come to think of it ya know what probably would be a great training tool? A metronome...

The whole tempo mechanic is broken still, I'm convinced it's intentional as a cheap way of making the game artificially "hard". Just switch swing timing off and play on Master or Legend, that's difficult enough cuz it is a video game after all, designed for FUN... 😢
It's very frustrating how vague the tempo system is. I couldn't find a decent explanation of it in the game, but I refuse to play without it because the "random" nature of it does mimic the real life golf swing, in a way. X BURK First things 1st is this game requires different tempos for different shots. For instance the chip shot and pitch shot require a slightly faster through swing than the Driver and Irons. I feel anytime a Shot has a tempo feedback you should bring the stick all the way back as far as it can go to maximize the feel to your thumb for the tempo required for the shot. Shots that are 100-80% power have a certain tempo required. 80-60% have a slightly slower tempo required. When I say tempo, I’m referring to the through swing speed in relation to your backswing speed. The only time you should be moving the stick back only slightly is on putts because tempo isn’t taken into effect on putts and the swing meter slows down a lot allowing you to hit your power consistently accurate. I get perfect tempo on 90% of my swings. My online match play record is 70-4, and this is how I play.
Is it just push right or is it it goes to the top then the line loops around to the right? If it's push then make sure you're square to the television and try to feel like you're pushing to 11 o clock. If it is the loop around right then don't hold it at the top. Personally when I pull back and push forward faster my lines are straighter. Let me know
@@MrDejavu1982 do you have have second controller? I have one controller that has a loose analog stick and it causes issues. If that doesn't work I would try the push to 11 o'clock feel or put more of you finger on the controller to control it more
@@Ma_Kachada my only other controller is a ps5 controller and I don't like to use that to play pga the analog sticks feel looser. As far as my swing I have a slower pull back and forward swing.

If you wait until the club head is at the top before pushing forward you will struggle badly to hit perfects as you'll go into the overswing. Push forward when the club head is going round the players shoulder. It will revolutionise your game. (you also need to swing back and forward as this video says at a fair speed)
@@R2B2YT look at the analogue closely when you swing do it fast the shot will go straight and the timing will follow. It will be the distance control ( the point where the back swing turns into the front swing) that important has to be one motion and fast. Look at it when you do it like real golf
Playing golf for real is easier than this crap! What is the point of calibrating your shot. If i hit it fast in calibration then it should normalize that in my game. These games anymore are geared towards unemployed mooches that play all day everday. Make a damn game that is fun for people who just want to play a game and unwind at the end of the day. Not fun if you have to go study mechanics all day.

Dona Caron You could always just try and master the game mechanics like everyone else. I get perfect tempo 90% of the time and I use Bridgestones. I think you’re underestimating the attention to detail required to be consistent at this game. It’s not supposed to be easy, it’s supposed to be hard. Just like real golf.

And the tempo is still shit on a pc.. and sorry pal.. the tempo is not like real golf. Every golfer have their own tempo... not a general one to ajust to. Also the calibration doesn't work... you have 90% on tempo !! cool for you.. but it is still shit.. 10% of the time, you play shit.. and thats not golf when you play at pro or master level. masters don't miss 10% of the Time in real golf... they play 65 regularly. Pro am or amateurs play with 10% of shit.. and even more than that...
the game was broken on xbox until yesterday’s patch fix. no amount of attention to detail could have fixed the broken swing system. i have 23 days of gameplay on the previous game. it was straight broken.

Depends on the percentage. If I want a 100% shot then yes. If I am hitting 80% shot then no I only move it slightly

Very important to direction of the ball and tempo. More forgiving clubs and higher swing plane is always my recommendation with 2k21.

No it isn’t at all. You can leave your club at its highest point for 10 seconds and still get a perfect. It’s all in your downswing speed.
