  • This is the second video about my investment casting setup. In this video, I give a quick update on a few things I brought up in the last video. I also show my new wax working station as well as the wax and plaster I will be using. Finally, I show the aluminum I will be working with. The aluminum is 4032 and came from a car wheel off a scrapyard. I have an XRF scan, you can see in the video, of the metal which will come in handy. I have almost everything I need to make my first cast so I will be making my first casts soon. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Levi, I did some investment casting during my undergrad but it's been so long. I'm wondering how much ventilation do you need to cast & 3d print? I've been planning to get into jewelry and your set up has me interested in having an in-home casting set up of my own

    • @Levi_Sheridan
      @Levi_Sheridan  Рік тому +2

      I always kept a window open near my setup with a ventilation fan operating all of the time. The 3D printing is less of a concern but there are gases produced during the burnout process and during the melting of the metal. The largest concern is when working with the “plaster”. If you breath in the powder you can develop silicosis which is incredibly scary so I always wore a 3M respirator while working with it.

      Why would I call you dumb when your name is Von? I am pretty sure the metal table is from global industrial or possibly Uline and the wood table is from ikea but I’m not positive because I got that one for free.

      Levy that's cool dude ! That aluminum will give you a first hand experience as to what jewelers have been working with post WW2 thinking that it was white gold or platinum . If you find the wright brass you can even fool the pawn shops kid ! For the acid and rubbing stone have been tailored for such metals since the fifties or so and a selected few have been for years retrieving what authentic gold and natural diamond people have inherited . I don't understand it , the metal is even found in the fruits we eat and as for animals well they posses these elements too ! They just don't teach you in school what acids to use should you decide to pick up a dead cat on the road and refine it to extract the bullions with in . When you decide to get married remember , the difference between a lab diamond and the diamond the earth produces naturally as a result of Jehovah God creation will be only one . A characteristic that man has not been able to reproduce in a lab, though in their attempt through the years , have yielded very nice fancy colors to include the white or clear lab diamonds . That characteristic is called "Florescence" ! A glow that's only present in all "earth" grown or mined diamonds including the fancy colored ones ! There are three different types of diamond gems these days son . First and for most is that from the earth ! The second is a diamond made using soft materials ie carbon or from a dead carcass etc. This second one is what it's present jewelry industry known as the lab grown ! The third one is also man made resulting from harder materials such as graphite for example requiring higher heat with longer time in the chamber to develop it's crystallization . This third one they will try to sell you as a natural earth diamond but it will not have the florescence characteristic ! You will hear that not all diamonds have florescence . This is true if it's not earth yield ! My desire is that you be successful in life son ! May Jehovah God guide you and your family .

      @@JenniferTorres-ns4gz it is true that there is metal in the food we eat and in our own bodies as well but the quantities are so small that I don’t think you’d be able to actually refine anything from a cat. From my own research I’m pretty sure that lab grown diamonds are indistinguishable from natural diamonds. While the idea of natural diamonds is quite nice the process by which they are acquired has a tremendous effect on the earth and the people involved in the mining process. Thank you for watching my video and your well wishes!

      @@Levi_Sheridan Levi son yes you are correct mining have deteriorated the earth ! There are alluvial mines in Africa , Russia , S & N. America , Canada , India , China , and Australia that requires effortless mining practices for they basically wash up on the shore even in Hawaii . However for the sake of finding out how deep is the earth scientist sought funding from developed countries such as ours and begun the Kimberley mine project which was falsely propaganda as a diamond mine leaving a negative impact on the eco system over all . Son the world foundries are closing because the fuel and gasses that are used to keep the furnaces working twenty four hour a day for the molten metal is running out ! Son government funded steel and or even automotive manufactures have closed or moved to places like Mexico and other countries because it saves not the money that's easily printed or much less on labor of which the world can count on of having more then three billion or so in mentioned age group , but more so on the fuel resource itself ! Son the earth deposit in the alluvial mine are not yielding ! Even gold is running scarce ! Platinum is a man made composition alloy metal like wise Aluminum and Steel which are fabricated with the aid of mineral ore to achieve a metallic result there is a industry difference between mineral ore and metal ore which are found in mine deposit through out like Gold , Silver and Copper . Processes that began a century or so with the introduction of the Periodic Table . Yet " perhaps " , you are taught that there are mines of such metals . Kid it is my understanding that Jehovah God is turning off certain resources such as fuel for example , of which it's petrol chemicals have found their way to our food source , and from man inability to manage it correctly ! Look up Belmontmetals.com for a good casting is only achieved with good virgin or refined metals . Also look up Romanoff.com you will find here the oil for your casting machine if you have not done so yet . I understand your enthusiasm kid ! Respectfully : Osmani Torres .

    Question, I have the same vacuum castor and was wondering where do you buy the oil and where exactly is the opening to pour it ? thanks your content has been great help for my journey !

    • @Levi_Sheridan
      @Levi_Sheridan  3 роки тому

      Thanks! You can find vacuum oil on websites like Amazon and eBay. Just make sure it’s labeled as vacuum oil and you should be fine.
      The vacuum pump is located inside of the unit. There are a few screws on the back holding on an access cover that you need to remove to access the pump. The vacuum pump has two ports but one is labeled as a fill port so you should be able to find it.
