    We LOVED visiting the Byodo-In Temple a few years ago. SOOOO beautiful! Thank you for bringing me back to such a special memory!! BTW- the Traveling Princess is so adorable!!!

    We stop at Byodo-In every visit to Oahu. If you manage to time your visit when there's not a huge bus tour there, it's very serene.

    Brings back good memories. When I went it was pouring rain. You would think that rain would have dampened experience but it was actually really cool and peaceful. There was also a black swan near pond.

    I loved the bit where the Traveling Princess, with a little bit of help from a certain travel guide 😉, rang the temple bell. 👏🏻

    I love this place and thought it was in Japan for a long time until I saw videos about it lol. Also found out on Mobile I am subbed to you every time. It is a glitch on the desktop version apparently.

      It definitely feels like it could be in Japan! Glad to hear UA-cam isn't really conspiring against me!

    Went there last September and loved it. Unfortunately the tour was quite brief so we all only had about 50 minutes there and didn't have time to go in the temple. Great to see what it is like 😊 lovely place to visit.

    Beautiful video! I haven't been to the one in Hawaii. But I did go to the one in Japan! And the Travelling Princess is so "kawaii!"😃

    We are spending the morning in Pearl Harbour and have a tour at Kualoa ranch at 15:30 (but have to get there at 14:45) looking at the map we will be driving past and hoping to have to time to stop. How long do you think it takes to park and have a quick look around?

    Cool video, Chris. Planning our first Hawaii trip now ($258 roundtrip inc. taxes!), and taking advantage of the large amount of Japanese culture since Japan has been closed for so damn long now.

      Those are some good airfare prices! Yes. Soak in the Japanese culture in Hawaii

    I grew up about 5 minutes away, but didn't visit the temple until my 20's. Really enjoyed the obon festival there. Great food and lots to do.
    It's good that people learn about things outside of Waikiki. Gotta love Kaneohe.

      Neat! And yes. I always like to remind people there is more to Oahu than Waikiki! :)

    I almost thought this was in Japan at first until you mentioned it being on Oahu! The scenery looks very similar to what you would see in Japan. The temple looks really neat!

    How did you get your daughter to adjust to the time zone change? Trying to plan a big trip with our 6th month old and wondering how to approach that with his sleeping schedule

    The birds there will eat food off your hands. Buy some fish food from the gift shop. Put the fish food on your palm and, put your hand on the ground. The birds will land on your palm and eat from your hand. You can slowly stand up, and the birds will stay on your hand as it feeds. Cool photo opportunity.

    Taking shoes into temple is strange?

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  2 роки тому

      Carrying them with you is strange.. most Japanese temples have a shelf and you leave them outside

    • @petej5232
      @petej5232 2 роки тому

      @@YellowProductions generally with most temples you would take them off outside. I think carrying them inside is equally disrespectful.
