There is no other song in the world I relate to more. 'Caught in the Middle' captures how it feels to be scared of the future and disappointed in the past. Sometimes we spend too much time dreaming about life that we don't actually live in reality.
Damn I never knew anyone felt the same dread about getting old but also not finding comfort in the past... I really love Paramore, this album has really explored topics that most people like to sweep under the rug but it makes me feel better knowing there are other people who feel the same way
Greystorm1619 why would you want more people feeling the same way? Lol how does that makes you feel better? I wish people didnt feel as shitty as me, cus that way people wouldnt do so many different kinds of stupid shit
I think their lyrics improved a lot with time as well, Their old songs used to be too teenage focused, and although they sounded very good when it came to the lyrics it wasn't very deep.
"Nostalgia's cool but it won't help me now" that line I feel because we can get nostalgic about our childhoods about old friends memories or songs that were hits back then but all they are are memories we can't backtrack or go back into time these songs on after laughter litterally explain how growing up is a bitch
I think we all love paramore but this 80's post punk postmodern aesthetic is really working for me. Like i love them more now than i initially thought possible
Hard Times, Fake Happy and Caught in The Middle are songs that truly reach my soul. The recent Paramore releases are kind of a therapy, because I keep thinking that I don't need to refrain myself from going through bad days while I'm listening to them. I need to go through bad days because no one is happy all the time and I cannot be happy all the time♡ the happy beat and sad lyrics are me when I think "fuck it, I'm sad now but I'm going to get better" ILYSM PARAMORE
Rafaelle Duarte that’s exactly how I feel since I listen to their music when I was like 11 or 12 😍 happy someone feels the same as me. Paramore is my therapy.
"I gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter" Taking a course that I don't like but still pursuing it because I'm ashamed of being a quitter or loser. I keep telling myself that I need to keep going because a lot of o people are expecting something on me. It has an enormous impact on how I'm living right now. Being depressed, losing interest in my only hobby, having not satisfied with everything that I do. I'm exhausted.
I don't want to be a bummer or anything, but I feel this way most days as a professional. I'm lucky that I got a degree and a career, but it's getting me jaded to the point that I'm doing this just to stay out of the red. I'm sorry to bring this up, but I resonate with the words so much that I just had to.
Esme Dc okay, yes but who gives them, the director, editor, and cinematographer, the freedom of creativity 🤷🏾♀️ I am into film and I know aspects of editing, cinematography, directing, I know when to give credit when due. ``I don't need no help, I can sabotage me by myself``... great lyrics! so true. This whole album captures the honest emotional rawness that exists in us all. In a super colorful and creative way.
People complaining that the 90's genre died and they want it back. Even after this smooth blend of hayley with the old school style, people still complaining. Like wtf u want?
Mulotong Jamir im 25 and i always go back to listening her old school music they are the best . Her live performance would make me feel an amazing feeling. I dont get that feeling with new rock music. I understand she changed her music. But legends in the past never did that . The beatles, slipknot, system of down, linkin park, queen. Its like the greatest players in sports switching to another sport . It wont fit together. Paramore was blessed to play rock like when she first started thats what she loved to do.
@@levirain6011 I disagree with 2 of the things that you said. The only reason she was so good live back then is because she worked her voice so much so her live performances could sound like the songs on her albums. It strained her voice a lot and you could tell. And also, I don't know about the other bands you listed, but I am a hige beatles fan. Their posters cover my room and i have a tattoo of their faces. So different. And that's what makes wanting to listen to each of them special. You can pick each for whatever mood you're in but still end up listening to them
My two favourite bands have something similar in that they defy being confined to the idea of genre. What stays consistent is the quality of the music and the lyrics, and the sincerity of emotion and message. They started out epitomizing rock, or rap, but have grown, expanded, experimented, and evolved the way they incorporate that root into the kind of music they want to create now. It's the balance of keeping true to both the past and present versions of yourself and allowing yourself to just create. As BTS says, "BTS is the genre," so I agree that "Paramore is the genre."
PrincessRiners This is going to sound weird but, I keep seeing you in literally every other comment section of every video I watch. It’s really weirding me out.

And it's not HER group. It's paramore and not "hayley's group". This new style is about making their own sound and not staying in their emo phase.
Paramore is really a great band, they were able to change throught the years, I want to be sincere, I am still in love with the old albums especially with their "Emo" era, I am really linked with that kind of music it was full of emotions.
Is it just me? Or I could actually connect with the song? like really relate to it. This song is giving me the feels. It stings, but in an unexplainable good feels. Waaaah why you doing this to me Paramore! 😭
Iam Notarobot Actually, I have listened and liked all the previous songs from all the previous albums of Paramore, and I was really proud when the Self-titled album came out because their songs there are seriously amazing and meaningful, but this After laughter album is somethin else, it's the first time I was able not to just enjoy the music but really feel and relate to it, it's different, and this different is really good. So Yes, it really is the first time for my soul to be able to listen to a music, cause it's just a matter of what songs our soul relates into, before you could actually say you have "listened" to a "music." ☺
Over time, This album feels more and more like the self-titled album pt2. I feel as though After Laughter and Self-Titled lie as more focused statements about the band and where they are as individuals. And where the self-titled album dealt in the dreams and fantasies of growing up as a group and a person, After Laughter seems like it deals with finding yourself in maturity and adulthood, and the feelings and thoughts that accompany you as you wander into your old age.
All jokes aside, despite how upbeat this song is and how colorful it looks, this song is actually about, or how I choose to interpret it, suicide and how Hayley doesn't know if she should just give up on life and be called a quitter or keep going and endure the pain of having to live. I should probably go to sleep.
Zalien TM I'm pretty sure shes just talking about how time flys by and how it's sad to get old and look back at the "simple" times where the future was ages ahead. Idk sorry if this makes no sense lol
The song could mean a lot of things, and they may have intentionally made it that way. It could just be about the complications of life, how it feels to grow up, suicide and depression, trying to please people while maintaining yourself, and maybe even about paramore maturing into what it is now (the lyrics may be reflecting about trying to keep fans happy while making the music they want to). I think it's best when songs are able to be interpreted in many ways so more people can relate.
Hayley mentioned its kinda about continuing or ending paramore. The band was in a bad spot and they considered ending the band. But you interpret however. Its intentionally vague.
2:47 I’ve been wondering for so long so I’ll help someone out “all the glory days are gone, it’s over now, I’m on my own” are what she’s saying in the background vocals
I think it's disturbingly annoying to recognize the fact that the first time I heard this record I thought it was bad for a Paramore record, and took me almost 2 years to hear it over again and realize that it has super simple and catchy songs with AMAZING groove (and 26... nothing less). Thanks Zac!
I can't think of getting old It only makes me want to die And I can't think of who I was 'Cause it just makes me want to cry, cry, cry Can't look back, can't look too far ahead I got the point, I got the message I'm just a little bit caught in the middle I try to keep going but it's not that simple I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter Yeah, I'm caught in the middle I was dreaming life away All the while just going blind Can't see the forest for the trees Behind the lids of my own eyes Nostalgia's cool, but it won't help me now A dream is good (don't wear it out) if you don't wear it out And I'm just a little bit caught in the middle I try to keep going but it's not that simple I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter Yeah, I'm caught in the middle No, I don't need no help I can sabotage me by myself I don't need no one else I can sabotage me by myself I don't need no help I can sabotage me by myself Don't need no one else I can sabotage me by myself I don't need no help I can sabatoge me by myself Don't need no one else I can sabotage me by myself I don't need no help I can sabatoge me by myself Don't need no one else I can sabotage me by myself And I'm just a little bit caught in the middle I try to keep going but it's not that simple I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter Yeah I'm caught in the middle I'm caught in the middle
I feel so bad for giving the chance to this album until now but maybe it was needed so I could find refuge and relief in music, when I'm going through this feelings❤️🥺 Thank you Hayley for being that open and fierce with this topics
Hayley said herself in an interview that this song is the most honest she's ever been in any particular moment. It's also her favorite song to play live
Who's here in 2024? I keep coming back to this song everytime I feel like my life is wasting away trying to find out what went wrong in the past, what I should do to make up for that, and just trying to survive. LOL. Thanks, Paramore for putting it into words and making it fun. SML!
this song is such an acute representation of my life. struggling through med school wondering if it's gonna be worth it. constantly self sabatoging and hoping to see this madness through so i can finish/ commit to one thing in life for once.

So Yes, it really is the first time for my soul to be able to listen to a music, cause it's just a matter of what songs our soul relates into, before you could actually say you have "listened" to a "music." ☺
A great artist shares their feelings, feelings so strong that everyone can relate to.
I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING HOLY SHIT
I love it already and all I've seen is the pineapple
Over time, This album feels more and more like the self-titled album pt2. I feel as though After Laughter and Self-Titled lie as more focused statements about the band and where they are as individuals. And where the self-titled album dealt in the dreams and fantasies of growing up as a group and a person, After Laughter seems like it deals with finding yourself in maturity and adulthood, and the feelings and thoughts that accompany you as you wander into your old age.
One of the many reasons why Paramore is my favourite band
is it me or is paramore gets better and better, the lyrics got to me UGH ! T.T
Rose Colored Boy and Caught In the Middle are some of their best videos ever
Then why do they have such low view count
DanDan TheKage Because this generationg is teash and prefers to listen trash like Lil Pump
DanDan TheKage they aren't mumbling like retards to a generec rap beat
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE PARAMOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
YES!
FACTS
YESS
All jokes aside, despite how upbeat this song is and how colorful it looks, this song is actually about, or how I choose to interpret it, suicide and how Hayley doesn't know if she should just give up on life and be called a quitter or keep going and endure the pain of having to live.
I should probably go to sleep.
Zalien TM I'm pretty sure shes just talking about how time flys by and how it's sad to get old and look back at the "simple" times where the future was ages ahead. Idk sorry if this makes no sense lol
Go to sleep forever thanks alot she isn't giving up but you should.
Zalien TM You right. It's about obligation vs. Selfishness or Staying alive vs. Suicide
Hayley mentioned its kinda about continuing or ending paramore.
The band was in a bad spot and they considered ending the band. But you interpret however. Its intentionally vague.
only paramore can make a song this upbeat and joyful with lyrics that sad af 🔥
lololololol
Every persian song ever tho xD

Reminds me of The Cure.

I just noticed the background vocals @ 2:37 “all the glory days are gone, it’s over now, I’m on my own” inching closer to my 30’s feeling this way 😭
Im 31 years old now..for me its the best time of my life.. i would never go back to my Teen or 20s days.
I feel so much confident and wiser
2:47 I’ve been wondering for so long so I’ll help someone out “all the glory days are gone, it’s over now, I’m on my own” are what she’s saying in the background vocals
The lyrics under this video literally says it
*intro plays*, *annoying orange flashbacks* AHHHH
Haha yessss
I get that about Trump sometimes
I just realised what you meant...
Hey, hey apple! XD
I got that feel during the election in 2016
Anna Does Things Oof😂
She is just wonderful, the 90s vibe is so nostalgic! They never let us down.
Erika Lawless
I think it's disturbingly annoying to recognize the fact that the first time I heard this record I thought it was bad for a Paramore record, and took me almost 2 years to hear it over again and realize that it has super simple and catchy songs with AMAZING groove (and 26... nothing less). Thanks Zac!
Pool deserved to be a singleeee also with Tell Me How,but oukay,Caught In The Middle slays too! 💃💗
WorldOfIvy all of the songs on afterlaughter should be singles literally every single song
Harley Quinnesque agreeee!
AHH I'M SO FRIGGIN' EARLY.
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SONG
Whaaaaaaaat
what what
I know right
I do not understand any shit
lio 180, right. And I don't understand what you're saying. But okay.
I can't think of getting old
It only makes me want to die
And I can't think of who I was
'Cause it just makes me want to cry, cry, cry
Can't look back, can't look too far ahead
I got the point, I got the message
I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah, I'm caught in the middle
I was dreaming life away
All the while just going blind
Can't see the forest for the trees
Behind the lids of my own eyes
Nostalgia's cool, but it won't help me now
A dream is good (don't wear it out) if you don't wear it out
And I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah, I'm caught in the middle
No, I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
I don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
I don't need no help
I can sabatoge me by myself
Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
I don't need no help
I can sabatoge me by myself
Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
And I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah I'm caught in the middle
I'm caught in the middle
She literally has the lyrics in the description
Most artists stop at the dorky 80s aesthetic. But they're living it.
I'm so glad they made a video for this song, it's one of my fav from the new album
I feel like i went back to 80's
Anjay orh Indo

Sounds like a fun place to be
I am LIVING for this aesthetic

Hayley said herself in an interview that this song is the most honest she's ever been in any particular moment. It's also her favorite song to play live
This song honestly fits everything that i'm going through rn. Kinda made me wanna cry.
Who's here in 2024? I keep coming back to this song everytime I feel like my life is wasting away trying to find out what went wrong in the past, what I should do to make up for that, and just trying to survive. LOL. Thanks, Paramore for putting it into words and making it fun. SML!
Filmmaker:
How much of that 90s look do you want?
Paramore:
Yes
Lukas Ernst it’s more 80’s than 90’s
Take on me on steroids
None...we want an 80's look
That long, blonde hair is really working for her. I dig it. I dig it hard.
imagine not having a crush on hayley williams
chelsea is that even possible?!?!?
I would die
If they don’t they need to stay woke
IS THAT EVEN A THING
Impossible
this song is such an acute representation of my life. struggling through med school wondering if it's gonna be worth it. constantly self sabatoging and hoping to see this madness through so i can finish/ commit to one thing in life for once.
That's an incredible thing to commit to.
@@typalmer6850 thank you, lifted my spirits ☺️
I just now realized this is one of my favorite songs on After Laughter. Thanks Hayley, Taylor, and Zac.
