I know that some surfaces cannot be saved, and Paint is the best way to save a piece entirely, but I always love it when a painted piece is stripped to reveal the beautiful wood that went into its creation. Great work, excellent results.
I get more fellow "flippers" mad at me when I beg them not to paint certain pieces of furniture... and this video illustrates why! "Paint whatever they want", I tell them... just not walnut.. please... or cherry... or other fruit woods, nut woods, etc. Their heads explode.
Beautiful video, without inconvenient and unnecessary conversations, without interactions with animals or landscape displays, just the sound of the tools and presentation of the artist's magic. Very good!
Lavoro leggendario!!... È bellissimo vederti lavorare!!... ❤😊😊🎉🎉
Understated elegance in this restoration. Your skill, respect for the piece of furniture and trained eye for what's best for the finish are magical. Thank you for sharing.🎉🎉😊😊
I love that you changed the hinges back to the original and repurposed the key to open the door. Great color and great repair of woodworm and rot on the leg bottoms...very thorough work. A very enjoyable and educational video! Thank you.💚👏
Beautiful restoration. I really appreciate how you show all of your steps with the products (even I don’t know what they are in English😂) and equipment you use.
There were a lot of steps involved... Most people have no idea how much work it takes to get it back to original. They just want to sand it and paint over it and call it done... Enjoyed watching the process... Also I was impressed with your knowledge on mixing your own products to restore the piece. Looked great...
I love ❤️ what a gem that was hidden beneath the hideous paint! Why, why, why do people want to paint beautiful wood? I cringe every time I see it. I think with most pieces with a little more effort and it can be saved. I despise it when people paint a perfectly good piece of wood. I love seeing the grain emerge especially when you apply whatever topcoat you're using to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Great job! What are your thoughts on sandblasting painted pieces? I've seen this several times but not close up.
Hello Rosanna . For many people it is easier to paint wood than to bring it back to its origins. (although I have to say it took a lot of work to remove all that paint) I've tried sandblasters but most of them on a hobby level ruin the texture of the wood. The professional ones are more delicate but the cost of the sandblaster is prohibitive. At least for me, we are around 6/7 thousand dollars without counting the bags of particular sand which cost around a hundred dollars a bag

Adoro guardarti mentre restauri questi mobili storici!
Just a question, why didn't you fill the screw holes from the door handle? I am pleased that you didn't use the handle in the end. It turned out beautifully. ❤😊😊
It’s pleasing that we saw you take off the bottom set of hinges of the door first. This means that the top set of hinges carries the weight of the door. The process is then much simpler, and saves potentially damaging the the door frame
Ciao, gran bel lavoro.
Beautiful work.😊 I wish you would’ve narrated what you were doing in the different steps. What are the yellow crystals that you added alcohol, I believe, to make a solution? Exactly what was the purpose of that? The bicarbonate & water (?) solution was used to bring out the rotted areas of the boards that needed to be filled. Is that correct? Did that have any other effect on the wood?
Hello and thanks. So, the yellow flakes were dewaxed shellac, I used them before plastering so as not to leave plaster marks outside the holes. Oxalic acid is used to whiten wood and bicarbonate is used to eliminate oxalic acid. And then shellac as a finish
Grazie.

Way to nice of wood grain to be painted over. Glad you removed the paint and let the quality woodgrain show through... Thumbs Up!

It's still got lines and spots of the old paint right at the end,!

yes, good work and no power tools but some white paint specks remained stuck in the grains; with little more patience...??
Many passages of sandpaper were not shown. The paint was inside the fibers of the wood I would have to plane it to get it out

What did you use to soak the legs? Was it a wood stabilizer?
No it was anti-woodworm. The feet absorbed it all night, the woodworms will no longer attack it.
