Hi Simon...Altenew sent me a tutorial on how to store ink pads and they said up to evenly have ink. I store mine mostly down. So, storing yours organized as you do does the ink go more to gravity side or no different in your opinion. Thnx! Great storage ideas!!
@@juliesmith3857 I’m not Simon, but this year I managed to find a few Scrapbook sized D-Ring binders at thrift stores and have begun to put my 12” x 12” ‘s into page protectors and into the scrapbooks. I’ll be putting the cool colors of card stock into a navy binder, and warm colors into a burgundy binder. I’m debating with myself whether to keep the patterned paper in its own binder or intermix them with whichever card stock color is most dominant in the pattern. Their own binder, so far, is winning out, as patterned paper, almost by definition, is a combination of lots of colors. Anyway, that’s my plan for now, for the larger sized cardstock. Most of my 8 1/5” x 11” stock are neutrals, and were gifted to me in a box that seems, to date, to be maintaining a nice, soldier-smart, upright stance, so I’ll keep them where they are. Hope this helped some!
Would love to hear more about the furniture! Having large drawers that fit these containers would be amazing for me! I am working on a 6’ outdoor folding table that isn’t made for stamping & in a room with extra furniture that needs to be sold or donated.
Hi Simon, thank you for your tips. I am in a downsizing situation, whereby I have had a fairly substantial craft room, but now have to plan for the next 12 months when I expect to become a full time carer for my elderly parents and am re-thinking my craft room to adapt to a smaller size. Hence, efficient storage, and because I like to go on two-three day retreats or simple craft dates, mobile options are my current focus. The last thing I want, as a 58 year old looking at retirement as well, is to have all my wonderful tools and materials in boxes I can't see, be inspired by or work easily with. Thank you for your wonderful research and thoughts, they are helping me put some ideas together. Bless xxx
We two may be looking for similar craft storage / portability options, with your crafting outings, and my total lack of a crafting space. This last week I received my order of an ArtBin Tote Express. I had SUCH high hopes, but unfortunately, for me, ArtBin chose to make the TOP section the larger of the two, which wouldn’t allow me to put the scrapbooks I store my 12” x 12” cardstock into the BOTTOM section. So, back it goes! Another product I’ve been looking at is what shows up on y. t. & A’zon as “professional makeup train trolley” (etc. etc. … ). Sadly, that product, too, just isn’t deep enough for me, but you might check out either of these for your outings. (🤷🏼♀️. Unfortunately, neither of these allow you to see your stashed items.). Good luck, Crafting Friend, and be well! (Do remember to take care of Yourself as well!)
I really appreciate this video. I like that you've included solutions that don't require buying more products, and use less plastic. (Like using your packaging as storage.) I'm getting ready to move into a new house and I definitely need organizing ideas! Can't wait to see more of your ideas. 😊💖
Oh, dear Girl!! I SOOO hope your new house has a new h o m e for your craft supplies!! It’d be such a shame if you ended up fighting with your new digs to make it accommodate your source of joy!!
@@mrsdiaz86 So-o-o … Does that mean you have to go through the process of stashing everything under the bed when you’re preparing for the arrival of guests? I ask, because I, too, have either NO crafting space, or I take up space in the guest room! I’m not real big on the idea of a chinese fire drill in preparation for a visit!! As it is I seem to lose more stuff in this house, every time I have a “hurry up and stash stuff” when someone just comes to the house, let alone come for a visit !!
Thanks so much for your great ideas and tips! My collections of stamps and dies is pretty big now, despite regular purging! I photocopy each new product and place that into a page protector in 3 ring binders that are divided into about a dozen categories. Then I put the actual product into zip pouches from the office store that will hold numerous products, and are labeled with a number. That number also goes on the photocopied sheet. A bit time consuming at the outset, but it is fabulous for quickly finding choices from my stash! Also has kept me from buying duplicates because I can quickly pull out a binder to see things vs thumbing through bins. Love how you have blenders with your most used inks!! Must try that! Thanks Simon !!🧑🏼🎨🤗😀
Simon, a suggestion for your stencil packaging is to turn the card upside down. The lip will protect the bottom of the stencils from bending/poking through the wrapper. Then, you still have the full package, and the back instructions/idea suggestion. All you have to do is flip it over to look at it, but the packaging will remain intact. You may need to add a little sticker dot or double-sided tape to adhere the top of the lip to the interior of the wrapper to keep it in place, without fumbling to get the stencils between it and the backer. It does require opening the taped end, but only once. It works really well and saves you from having to deconstruct the packaging. You're almost to 500k subs!!! Keep going, doll!
I’ve been card making n journaling for 25 yrs. I have changed my storage many times over the years. I took a large picture frame and bought rolls of magnetic sheeting. Hung the frame behind my craft room door. I store all my basic shaped nesting dies on it- circles, squares, rectangle, hearts, etc. I do really like my Tim Holtz tins for mini ink pads, Distress oxide pads, sprays, crayons, alcoh 0:08 ol inks, etc. they can get costly but I wait until I have 40-50% off coupons to use. I found a clear plastic case meant for beads at Michaels that I use to store my domed or flat blending pads that I use on Distress inks n Oxides. I am able to label on the lid what ink the pad is for. I find that very handy!! My problem is I have memento mini inks and ColorBox inks in one unit, TH oxide inks in another unit, TH mini distress inks in an old designer bag (meant for 4 tin units) hanging on my pegboard, and a tiered unit for ink pads on another unit that has standard inks from miscellaneous brands of inks. I really would like all my inks in one area rather than all over the room. Just not sure how I’m going to do it.
Thank you for sharing your storage and organization ideas. It helps to see how others set up their craft areas and how they work for you. I can take the ideas that will work for me without the headache of having to think 🤣. Thanks for sharing. 🥰💕
Just a note about the acrylic riser for the pastes. You can also mount the steps the other direction so that the opening faces the bottom and you're sitting the jars on the flat surface of the step. I find this configuration to be easier and smoother for me, but it can be used either way. Whatever works for you.
Thank you for giving us an inside look at your creative process and art station! ❤ You're very talented and much appreciated for keeping the handmade card art alive and well!
Thought of an idea....just glue chipboard (like a cereal box type scrap) onto the back of the magnetic vent covers to make them more sturdy. I’m gonna try that as I already have both. Ty for your organization tips! ❤️🦋💜
Oh boy, was this ever a timely video!! I was in my craft area the other day, and getting very frustrated trying to locate some supplies. I've tried to be organized, but still have several things in clear labeled boxes, which are not as efficient as I would like. I'm definitely going to be using your suggestions, and I'm with you on the magnet die storage, they are also my go-to. Thanks so much!!
This was such a great video. Always trying to find ways to make things easier and find things when making my cards. I just bought my first piece from Stamp and Storage on the Black Friday sale and bought the 12 slot, 12 x 12 paper holder. I hope this will keep some of the mess organized. Love your craft room and wish I had enough room to do one like that. Thanks so much.
I have the acrylic containers with the dividers. I love them! I do exactly what you do but I also store my finished cards in them. They are perfect. Great ideas. Thanks Simon!
Keeping my craft room organized is a hard job. I finish one project and immediately jump into the next and don’t clean up from the previous. I seem to repeat this over and over. 😂😂 Thankfully I’ve been doing a lot of the things you showed in this video to organize, but one thing I did go purchase was the shelving for the lunar paste products. Thanks Simon and happy 2024. ❤
You and I store our stamps and stencils the same. One exception, I just turn the stencil insert upside-down and I can get my stencils in and out easily with out loosing any information I may need later. TY for the links for the bins...

Well, I guess I have just a few more envelopes than you. Whoa. You know, colored, kraft, A2, A6, UK A6; 5x7; 1/2 sheet, oh my. Actually I have a bin and 1/2 on my rolling cart. However, I'm rarely without an envelope I need. LOL It is helpful to have everything where you know where it is and at hand. I don't have enough units to always store things out of sight so I tend to use zippered binders and/or covered bins. (Sometimes it's a while before I return to certain stamp/die/stencils sets and I'm literally allergic to dust.) Of course, I finally inventoried most everything which means I don't have to sort though the products, just the program, to find out where something is located. Game changer for me and rarely do I buy duplicates anymore. I like seeing how you organize your products and look forward to more insights and tips.

What? Seriously? I don't have everything already? What are these gadgets? Now I need to go shopping. And now thanks to this video they will be organized correctly the moment they hit the door.
Great video! I may have to rethink my stamp/die envelope method. Lately I’ve been having a lot of my stamp envelopes splitting on the sides. Maybe just keeping them in the original packaging would be a good solution for me. Thanks, Simon!
Wish I had a craft room with room. 😢 storage becomes a nightmare sometimes, I love them cascading shelfing, be perfect for my goodies, but no where to store them. lol but I do what works for me in my extra small space. Tfs this beautiful way to store things. Fantastic. ❤
Hi Simon, maybe I missed it somewhere, but what drawer unit are you using for the stamps/dies? The Ikea drawers in my units are way too narrow. I can't seem to find anything deep enough. What you have looks perfect! Thanks for the really great ideas!
Amazing! I have watched many “craft room organizers “ but none of them have helped as their craft rooms were way bigger than mine. You have the perfect size room to compare to. I would like to know what are your cabinets behind you? Where can I find them? What do you store in them? Thanks so so much for the great storage information. ❤
I’m surprised Simon hasn’t gotten back to you already, but … on the off chance someone still needs to know what they can get you for Christmas … they look to me to be the Alex drawer units from IKEA. Simon talked about them in one of his other videos, wherein he explained, too, how he made that handy space in the center section under the counter top, but I don’t remember exactly how. Good luck with your craft room organization!
Loved all this info Simon! Thank you! I’ve always been told to store ink pads flat……… do you have a problem with storing yours vertical? Does the ink settle at the bottom?
My ink pads are fine to store on their sides. Definitely check with the manufacturer if you are using a different brand. But, you can tip any of these organizers on their side so the inks are sitting flat too. :)
Great ideas for storage, thank you for sharing! Do you have links for the square containers and the larger ones that you use to put the square ones in?
Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to get that tiered stand - I love that there is a lot of room for future Lunar and Solar Paste colors... hint hint! 😝
Too expensive for me. I buy from Amazon, Marietta Magnetics. 25 each 5" x 7" sheets for ~$29 - Note: these are the heavier 30mil not 20mil sheets! They are not as flimsy as the vent covers. I still store them in plastic bags.
Hi Simon! I need to clean up my desk so I appreciate this video! I was wondering if you use the same bins for the acrylic blocks as you do the stamp sets and background stamps? The bottom is 5inches so I’m curious how you fit the large stamp sets and background stamps (most that have I have are 6x6in). Thank you!
@@simon.hurleythank you Simon! Unfortunately for some reason no links come up for me during your video :( but I will definitely look for those bins! Thank you again!
@@tracylee4442thank you! I can see the links in the description :). But I didn’t see it for the larger bins. Unless it’s described as something else. And he mentioned having the links on screen throughout the video, which I didn’t come up for me.
Tolle Ideen.😊 Ich besitze alle Lunar&Solar Pasten und auch Stempelkissen. Können diese immer in Licht stehen oder wäre es dunkel besser, damit keine Farbe verloren geht?
I'm currently trying to organize my stuff I have several of the storage shelves for distress oxide & love them my big issue is stamps i currently have them in 3 ring binders in heavy duty page protectors I keep scraps on jumbo pencil boxes
Question: could you show us the furniture you use in your craft room? I’m looking for a drawer unit that’s capable of handling the weight of holding my stamps and (especially) dies. The drawers behind you look like Alex units from IKEA, but what about the drawer unit you showed in the video that housed your stamps and dies? The nearest IKEA to me is a 6-7 hour drive, and I’d like to know exactly what units you’re using to handle the weight of dies and height of larger stamps so I can make sure they are in stock before making a long drive. I’d love to see a tour of the furniture in your craft room in a future video too. Thank you!!
Simon great video and thanks for outlining your approach. Question - I see your IKEA 5 drawer units which I also have in my sewing room… what are the drawers that you were using to store your deeper containers? Under the table you were speaking from.
@@simon.hurley good to know. I think I have a degree from the IKEA Furniture assembly university lol. I just love the depth of the drawers. I’ll check them out and thanks for the warning!
Simon, what is the brand of drawers or cabinet that you use under your desk to store by our stamps & dies? I always had a difficult time finding drawers that are deep enough in height.
Simon, I really like that stadium organizer that holds your lunar paste! I looked, but I didn’t see a link for it. Do you happen to know which one it is on Amazon?
Question- where did you get the square bins used to store cards? The ones that are linked from Amazon are rectangular, much smaller than advertised, and don’t fit cards
Your video showed up in UA-cam for me today. You are new to me so I'll have to check out your products. I am intrigued by your set up behind you. It looks like Alex drawers on the outsides with maybe the wider, shorter Alex drawers in the middle? I like how that creates a little storage space there. What is your table top though?
It's that time of year again... time to tackle cleaning our craft rooms!

Love your crafts so much❤
Thank you!!
I had the same question. I hope he provides an answer!
Love this video Simon! Please do more on organizing!
Hello Simon. Like the cannister idea for the blending foams. How do you store them once the foams have ink on them?
Awesomeness!!! Love all your organizational tips!!!
Simon, thank you for this video! Love you!
That would work well if all my supplies were Simon Hurley but I also have orders that are different and a LOT of wooden stamps.
What great ideas. Thank you so much for your tips and tricks!!
Love organizing videos!! TYFS! ❤️🦋💜
Hi Simon, I love your videos and have started ordering some of your supplies. These organizers will be perfect. Thanks for all you do❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
Thanks Terry! You are going to love these organizers to store some of your supplies. Hugs!!
Great tips. Thanks for posting.
Outstanding video. Thank you so much.
Thanks all for the tips and ideas about storage Simon love them all thanks for sharing 😊
I love Stamp and Storage products . Bought two of the tall paper holders, and stained them to match my craft room.
Thank you Simon for sharing your storage solutions. I'm envious over your craft room. It is amazing. Want to switch?!
Love all of your ideas! Wish I had more space. Most would feel that I have plenty but pretty sure my supplies overtake my space! :)
Thank you for sharing your ideas!
I bought a nail polish storage and all my distress and alcohol inks are in the the best ever
Great ideas! Thank you for the video.
Great storage solutions!
Hi, thank you so much, I will have some ideas too 🎉🎉🎉
Well organized. Good job
Hands waving, I’m an acrylic block stamps everywhere kinda gal. Great tips.
Great video. Love Stamp and Storage products, and your will be put in use by me.
Excellent ideas!!
Love all the great ideas
Great video!!
QUESTION. Hi Simon, what sort of drawers do you have next to your desk. I need drawers deep enough for the precut card stock.
Great ideas for storage, thank you for sharing! Do you have links for the square containers and the larger ones that you use to put the square ones in?
Thanks!
Wonderful ideas
Thank you for sharing, you gave me a lot of great ideas. :)
Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to get that tiered stand - I love that there is a lot of room for future Lunar and Solar Paste colors... hint hint! 😝
Those magnet cards would be amazing but I would need like 100 of them....lol
Thank you!
No I use larger bins for the stamps and background stamps. They are from inter design. I have them linked on screen throughout the video. :)
@@simon.hurleythank you Simon! Unfortunately for some reason no links come up for me during your video :( but I will definitely look for those bins! Thank you again!
If you hit the more button which I think is next to the video name, under the video itself, the links come up in the sidebar.
Video idea - Tips/supplies you like to use when mailing? ☺️
I'm currently trying to organize my stuff I have several of the storage shelves for distress oxide & love them my big issue is stamps i currently have them in 3 ring binders in heavy duty page protectors I keep scraps on jumbo pencil boxes
Loved your video really was helpful thank you
Hi Simon, thanks for this video. The review of each item was very helpful. Also, is that a Kallax unit behind you? Thanks.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Great video, Thank you for the information, however, the link for the Mini Blending Brush Storage is not working.
They are from a brand called Clearvue. I do like them, but they are incredibly difficult to put together.
Thank you for sharing
Great idea👏👏👏
Simon, I really like that stadium organizer that holds your lunar paste! I looked, but I didn’t see a link for it. Do you happen to know which one it is on Amazon?
Question- where did you get the square bins used to store cards? The ones that are linked from Amazon are rectangular, much smaller than advertised, and don’t fit cards
Awesome! ❤
