This dark and compelling track is inspired by the 1964 film of the same name.
The song describes the death of the last of the psychic children, as he steps out to face the humans which are intent on destroying him by burning him at the stake.
It is a deep and thought provoking film, worthy of the song which it inspired...

I always slightly favored the darker (and maybe less deep) 1960 "Village of the Damned", which approaches the subject from a horror angle, but both movies are well worth watching. One of the interesting things about listening to Iron Maiden is all the literary, film, mythology, and history references that are easy to miss if you aren't familiar with the inspirations for the song... maybe not a real problem, though, as the songs are still complicated and deep enough that it's interesting to see how fans who aren't familiar with the source material interpret the lyrics.

No it's not it is literally inspired by children of the sea by black sabbath they were sitting down on a break from recording the number of the beast album and listening to the heaven and hell record and someone said hey why don't we do a song like children of the sea and this is what they ended up with

Every time y'all do Iron Maiden, it puts a big smile on my face. I fucking love Iron Maiden. I've been fortunate enough to have seen them twice and both times, they played this song. It was definitely the gem of both shows. It's a song they don't play very often so it's special when they do. It's just incredible standing there in the pit and you hear your fellow Maiden fans singing along with the guitar lines. It gives you goosebumps. If you ever get the chance to see Iron Maiden live, do it. You will not be disappointed.

I love that you guys love Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden was the first metal band that I was obsessed with...when this came out in 1982 I was instantly in love. You really need to listen to something off Maidens first two albums - those quickly became my favorite albums and I think the music on these albums more than any of their other music stands up to the test of time. I suggest...Remember Tomorrow or Wrathchild or Phantom of the Opera
"This song is about the science fiction films Village of the Damned and Children of the Damned from 1960 and 1964 respectively. These are about telepathic children who are chased by the military, but just want to live unharmed in a secure location."

It was pretty hard to make them listen to Helloween's Halloween..and they did and epic failure to that one, they should listen more to the music..bands like Helloween and many more has a connetion between music and lyrics..and the guitar work...they did not notice it, or that the bass was playing it own melodies and than did meet up whit the guitar's many times. But i hope that they doing part 2..and really listening.

Yeah the music tells alot of the stories between the lyrics. Especially on Keeper of the seven keys and Halloween.

Yyyyyeeeeesssss!!!! A very nice throwback to my late teens. Back then discovering Maiden I bought every single CD of them. Very nice time indeed. Allegaeon is my most recent discovery. Try Proponent for sentience III the Extermination or Grey matter mechanics. Sophisticated technical metal.

The song is about the film of the same name about 6 children with psychic powers. The children were opposed by other humans. This song is specifically about the death of the last child who was burned and describes the thought process behind the human decision to kill the child, fearing something they don't understand.

Great song guys! I agree with Vin. So many times I 've wondered "who I like more?" I 've given up trying because I 'll never decide. Both Maiden and Metallica are top of the tops. Same goes with Sabbath and Priest... You can't choose between the best pizza and the best ice cream. You just want both!

The best version of this song hands down. I have recommended this version in the comments, but I obviously wasn't the only one. Thank you for doing it, much appreciated. Bruce sounded the best he ever has during this period, damn he sounds killer here! This entire show is one of their best ever. I still literally get shivers down my spine & goosebumps when Bruce sings the verses after the first chorus. With that blue light on him, & the look on his face, man I just really deeply feel the performance of that entire section, especially when he sings 'If he had lived, he would have crucified us all.' The look on his face as he sings that line under that blue light is just priceless. Same here, I always thought that this song should've been longer. All-around, incredible performance!!! \,,/_(-,-)_\,,/
...Now he’s standing on his last step
He thought oblivion well it beckons us all...
...You're watchin' him die, according to plan
He’s dust on the ground, what did we learn?...

Any time Vin mentions Bone Thugs N Harmony in a reaction video, it instantly becomes one of my favorite reaction videos on this channel. Anyway, I was weary coming into this, I thought maybe you’d think it okay but nothing special or that you might find it sort of boring. So I was glad to see you guys liked it. Vin seemed like he was vibing with it. Good song. As far as the meaning, this song is based on an old sci-fi horror movie from the 60’s that’s also called Children Of The Damned. I haven’t seen it myself, I only have a very, very loose idea on what the movie is about.

Iron Maiden was my 1st and favorite metal band. I was about 8 years old and while in a record store next to my house I convinced my mother to buy me this tape that had this awesome cover not knowing the brilliance that was going to be heard, Number of the Beast. Then came Megadeth which was Peace Sells, then Metallica Kill Em All and Slayer Show No Mercy, what a great way to experience my 1st metal listening experience with those 4 great albums. So grateful for my Mom for being non judgmental into my exploring youth. I owe a lot of my musical discoveries due to that even though she very much disliked Metal music, 50's 60's bee bot and disco 70's music was her flavor. My Dad was into soul music as well. Long live Maiden and great Metal music 🤘🤘
