The writing on this episode was just confusing. Lori had warned Rick that Shane was dangerous and wanted Rick killed. When it actually goes down and Rick is able to protect his own life by killing Shane instead, Lori gets pissed at Rick???? WTF! That was the moment that I turn completely against Lori. She turned against the man she supposedly loved because he survived her lover's attack by killing the attacker.
+Ron Stephens I know.....! I was totally done with her simple ass when she allowed Carl to wander into the swamp to antagonize that walker out of the mud that kills Dale. Plus, again not watching him ends up botching the execution of Randall. My God, can this woman keep an eye on her kid......????
ok, here's what happened: lori only just told rick that shane was becoming dangerous and scaring her, shane kept pushing her and trying to get together with her, and she wanted her husband to deal with it. plus shane kept talking down rick to lori saying that he can't protect his family and shit, she got sick and tired of it and she felt that rick had to know so that he doesn't keep being friends with him not knowing what he's saying about him. all she wanted was for rick to sort the problem out and have a talk with shane to leave them alone, that's it. towards the end of the season, lori thought about everything she's put shane through and how hard everything has been on him and she just wanted to apologise to him for everything and make up with him so they can still be friends and move on. after that when she finds out rick killed him, it comes off as a huge shock and upsets her because she just gave him that heartfelt apology and shane was his best friend and Carl's godfather, especially when she finds out that carl had to put him down. she knows that rick had no choice, but she's in state of shock and freaking out from hearing the news and mad at him purely because he killed shane. she's also scared of him because he just killed his best friend.
@@Darksoul-cs2ob thank you! Lori's affair with Shane happened because she thought Rick had died, given the circumstances of Rick's condition, it was believable. He'd been comatose for at least a month with no indication he was going to wake up. Shane tried to rape Lori, also.. when Lori saw Rick was alive she went back to her husband.
This is why I love Andrea! Instead of staying inside the house with the other women she decides to go out like a warrior and kill walkers. Though I still liked her, I don't know why they didn't keep her character like this in season 3. They watered her down and made her look kinda weak...
she was naïve she believed that everyone could get along she was blinded by the fact that her first and only group was ricks but then still had feelings for the governor because they were in a sexual relationship when she was really only being used as a pawn in the governors game to get the prison.
I suspect they watered Andrea's character down for the same reason they did the same thing to Tyreese - they threatened Daryl Dixon's reign. Actor Chad Coleman who played Tyreese did say in an interview that Daryl Dixon was surely the biggest reason why Tyreese never evolved into his comic-book counterpart.
I know I am writing this comment years after the fact, but every time I see the way Lori breaks away from Rick when he says he killed Shane, I am pissed off. WTF!!!! She whispers in Rick's ear that Shane is dangerous because he was. She also kept feeding Shane crumbs which, in his twisted way of thinking, tore at Shane even more. He was jealous of Rick and was really enraged from the time Rick walked around that truck, back into their lives. Rick did everything he could NOT to kill Shane, but once they got to the opening in woods, Rick knew just what Shane wanted to do; kill him!!
And I’m writing years after the fact too 😂 but I agree with you, I never liked that scene and I’m kinda glad Lori wasn’t in the show for very much longer. She was a good character in the sense that it gave rick more character development but I never really liked her character
Her character is more real than most of them.. She makes an honest mistake.. Covers it up.. Tries to hide it.. Does a terrible job of admitting said mistake, quick to judge others mistakes..... And then loses her life before she can make up for all her wrongs.. Season 2 was about cutting away our humanity in order to make the tough calls... It took Rick killing Shane for him to understand, and it took Rick becoming a cold calculated killer in order for Lori to see how bad she fucked over her honorable man and turned him into something less than what he was.. It was all her fault.. And she never got to make up for it.
Andrea was so damn good in this episode! I miss Andrea and Lori... really! This was when all the characters were still realistic rather than super-powerful (Michonne and now Daryl). Also makes me miss back when the walkers could be such a threat.
So, let me get this straight: Lori is angry at Rick for killing Shane, his best friend that got in an affair with him while Rick was in the coma, almost tried to kill Rick in Season 1 & 2, sacrificed Otis to protect himself, killed maybe an innocent prisoner named Randall and claimed to screw Lori again??? Smh... Sorry I have to say this, but Lori is definitely a b**tch like Andrea. LOL! XD
CharismaticWonderman well it wasnt shane's fault rick was dead, rick was dead for sure there was no hearthbeat, people say rick is immune, he died then came back but as a human, so ofc shane took care of lori and carl and fucked the shit out of that bitch, randall was NOT innocent he was a rapist and was apart of JOES group
+Tobias Sundqvist Shane didn't check for a pulse; before someone can presume someone is dead they check for a pulse and if they have no pulse then they're dead. (I know what you mean by him having no heartbeat but thats just what EMTs, nurses, doctors do before they presume someone is dead is checking for a pulse)
Shane didn't kill Otis to protect himself he did it to save Carl Shane tried multiple times to get Otis to leave him behind he would not leave him so he did that to save carl
+NightGraveHunting lol yah but he was in panic haha ppl getting killed by soliders outside the door xD, and walkers roaming inside the hospital, idk xD
I really like the way Laurie Holden talks about her character Andrea in the first person. So many actors refer to their character as 'he' or 'she', but for Laurie, she IS Andrea, she is living it. I love this, it's refreshing to hear.
When Lori got all fucking mad when Rick said he killed Shane... I lost it. After he tried to kill Rick and claim Carl and her as his own she gets upset WTF! This is why people hate her
I could never figure out why that idiot egged Shane on like that in the episode prior, where she goes to him and basically confesses that she did previously feel something for him. On top of the fact that Lori KNEW Shane was dangerous and was willing to kill anyone in the group (particularly Rick) for what he wanted, just made me hate her even more. I'm glad she was killed off.
Lori was weak...in fact she was useless and complete dead weight..She contributed nothing to the group but strife, conflict, and grief! She was whiny nagging Her "there there anything you say whatever you think is best but I'm going to completely undermine you to Shane" crap...she put everyone in the group in danger at one point or another...
I always thought Lori was pissed because Carl was the one who shot Shane. Like, "Oh my god, my little boy had to do that" and she blamed Rick for it or something. She didn't seem to get upset until Rick told her it was Carl who put Shane down.
I mean.. It is understandable.. She made an honest mistake.. Did the human thing and covered it up, hurting Shane. Then when she actually had time to process her feelings; it drove Shane to madness.
@@bweany91 her feelings for Shane.... She told him it was a mistake.. That even if it was his baby it wasnt going to be his baby. I mean she tried to keep the whole thing covered til Rick found the pills..
The Ricktatorship was in full effect. My favorite scene of the whole series! Rick was taking on something he didn't ask for, getting second guessed and then that look from Laurie (hated her after that) when told her he had to merk that psychopath Shane. Mr Grimes had enough and let em know, I RUN THIS BITCH! Like a Boss.
I loved the way Michonne killed that walker with the sword!!It was an amazing scene!!I cant wait to know more about her on the show and how the story is going to develope. Its just amazing!!
Lori was the one who talked Rick into dealing with Shane cause he was in love with her and he was dangerous. Then she’s all mad at Rick for killing him when Shane tried to kill Rick! I really didnt like Lori’s character.
The reaction time of turning into a zombie varies between minutes to hours. Jenner stated that in the CDC episodes. The reason why other dead people didn't turn is because they were either bitten by zombies or they died in a way that left head injuries or damaged the brain enough to where they couldn't resurrect. Shane was the first time that someone died in a way that confirmed what Jenner told him: that they're all infected.
I feel for Rick. Out of everyone in the group he has had to take on most of the heavy lifting. If he screws up everyone is affected. Everything he has done has been for the good of the group. So in a way I'm not surprised he's gone off the edge a bit.

i really love watching these and hearing her take on what's going on in Lori's head because it makes a lot of the 'what are you doing lori calm down' stuff go away and explains it all so it makes sense
4:12 .... I think Sarah is interpreting Lori a little incorrectly here. Sure, Shane was with them for a long time and a bond was naturally formed, but we have litterally seen her distancing herself from him for all of season 2 and most of season 1 as well, plus she all but told Rick that Shane was going to take them away from him and that Shane was dangerous. No, I think what made Lori get pissed off at Rick in that particular scene (when she hits and pushes his arm away) is that Carl was forced to put Shane down. No amount of romance in the world could compare to a child having to kill someone, KILL someone, that the child and the mother HAD cared for; the child still caring for to a degree. I mean, Lori must be thinking "how screwed up isn't my baby boy now?" What angers Lori here is the fact that Carl was put through this, you can even see it in that scene that it is Rick mentioning that which shatters Lori and has her backing off.
Robert Kirkman said during one of his interviews for the aftershow Talking Dead that he originally called her Me-Shown but said its however you find easier to call her.
Guilt is a powerful thing. He doubted himself and needed his family to believe in him. He didn't want to justify his actions because he wasn't sure if his actions deserved justification. He killed his best friend...
on the episode when Dale dies right before he gets taken down, Lori tells Carl to go inside when there talking about what to do with Randal and he goes inside the tent which is like 3 feet away
interesting how they refer to their characters as themselves. clearly the directrs have been doing some "you are the character" method acting, emotional connection stuff. this show is filled with incredible acting performances
The different time also shows up in the comics as well, as in Volume 3: Safety Behind Bars, both resurrected about a few minutes after dying (one via a gunshot, the other strangled to death), whereas Shane in the comics was dead for hours (which gave the group time to dig a hole and bury his body).
More concentration of fire would have been nice. Instead of running around, fortify the house and pick the SOB's off. The MG's could mow them down. But you need head shots to kill the Zombies.
Exactly! As an aspiring writer, I was much more taken with the Season 3 finale than the Season 2 one. It provides you with much more information to think about. I thank God that it is not some sort of Dan Brown novel where every chapter ends on a bloody cliff hanger. A cliff hanger is good but if you keep going at such a fast pace full of gore and action, how are you ever meant to know and understand the characters?
I understand what you're saying. It makes sense. Rick would have only been telling the truth. But Rick has a strong moral compass. Because he felt so guilty for killing Shane he almost felt that he deserved to be blamed for his death. He makes no attempt to defend himself because it's almost like he feels like he doesn't deserve to be defended for his actions. He might just as well feel that he could have chose to somehow spare Shane's life.. This was a frustrating scene for me to watch as well.
That prison reveal was the best
Agreed!!

Rick is trying to say that he didn't attack Shane out of anger, but instead out of self-defense.
He was protecting his land...ammo didn't matter at that moment....It went superhuman lol.
I Love how Rick changed... Now it's time to kick ass
0:29 In this farm we have INFINITE AMMO
More concentration of fire would have been nice. Instead of running around, fortify the house and pick the SOB's off. The MG's could mow them down. But you need head shots to kill the Zombies.
Exactly! As an aspiring writer, I was much more taken with the Season 3 finale than the Season 2 one. It provides you with much more information to think about. I thank God that it is not some sort of Dan Brown novel where every chapter ends on a bloody cliff hanger. A cliff hanger is good but if you keep going at such a fast pace full of gore and action, how are you ever meant to know and understand the characters?
2:24 T-Dogs Like " Yup, Thats Me"
i loved herschel's infinite ammo shotgun
I don't think she knew about that..... I would have to go back and watch it again.
all the characters are good thats what makes this a great series
its funny how hershal never runs out of ammo.
everyone, i know Hershel eventually reloaded it is just that he shot a lot before he reloaded
