If you'd like to make this little gnome treat jar, you're going to need: small jar (I got mine at the Dollar Tree), a 7-inch paper maché cone, felt or fabric to cover the cone, fur or yarn for the beard, and a button nose. Trim and embellishments are optional (but oh-so-much-fun). Be sure to check out all of the Christmas gnome crafts here: ua-cam.com/video/fq4tHkpcjmk/v-deo.html

Hi Sarah I don't get tired of watching your videos of gnomes you amaze me everyday more and more thank you for sharing I really enjoy watching your hauls
Love him. Great idea. I've fallen in love with gnomes after buying one at a Christmas market and can't wait to start making some. I just need to sort out the supplies. Thanks for the idea of a treat jar.
You are so welcome, Kathy. Thank you so much for watching and when you're finished, share them with me on Facebook. I love seeing everyone's creations. :)
I would slip the jar inside a pretty matching sock and tie some twine around the top under the lip of the jar so it could be used as a secret treat jar (just dont put "enjoy" on the star and give away your secret. lol.
I'm so glad I could help! And you just gave me an idea... I'm thinking I could put a gnome-making kit together (a sock gnome kit) for the little ones and have this guy in the basket.
Omg!! These are adorable too!!!! I found my sock at dollar tree to make the adorable one with boots, now I'm off to get the supplies for this one!!! Tfs Sherry @ Queen Beez Vintage
Oooh, you're stealin' my ideas, Carmelle! LOL I hope to be able to share this idea soon. I have the PERFECT jar and already have the lights. ;) Thanks for watching and being here with me.
He is ADORABLE!! ❤LOVE ❤ I make some kinda cute candy jar for my mother in law every year...this is what Im making for her this year!! Thanks so much for this idea! The "Queen" never disappoints when it comes to gnomes! Stay well & TFS my friend!⚘
Hahah Well thank you, Connie. I think that is just the sweetest thing - making a cute candy jar for your mother-in-law... That's just the nicest thing.
Thank you so much, Donna. Quick little projects like these fill my holiday season (though I thought of this cutie back in July, hence those summer nails). LOL
Oh no, I'm so sad to hear Manitoba is having a spike. It seems it's just going wild everywhere again. And yes, I have to craft with my stash so it makes sense to whip up a few of these small projects. Thank you so much for being here, Linda, and please stay safe.
One of the cutest ideas I have come across so far this Christmas DIY season. I just bought 4 little jars yesterday and was going to do the typical 'chocolates in a jar with a ribbon tied around the lid'. Your idea will take my gift OVER THE TOP. Thanks so much for sharing your easy to follow tutorial and idea.
@@SarahNenniDaher just an FYI ... not sure if your DT in the US carry these chocolates at Christmas but I buy them and they are DELICIOUS in a cup of coffee. They are not the 'finest" chocolates on the market but when put in coffee, they come to life. Palmer Peppermint Bark Cups.
@@momofschnauzers Oh thank you, Bonnie. I'll have to look for them. Sometimes my DT is amazing and other times it's so picked over. I've added them to my list - hopefully I can pick some up to try!
I bought them from Amazon but sometimes the craft stores have them with the paper maché letters. If you can't find one, you could use a Styrofoam cone and glue the bottom to the top of the lid.
For the trim, I used a fabric called "plush fur." You could use the faux fur yarn (from Joann's) or even a lamb's wool fleece or sherpa fabric from Joann's if you can't find the plush fur. I got it at a local fabric store here and cannot find it on Joann's website.
I bought a pack of the 7x3 inch paper maché cones on Amazon. I'm pretty sure the craft stores have them but cannot for the life of me remember what section they are in.
I got the paper maché cones on Amazon, but a reader told me they had them at her local craft store (I never seem them at mine this small, only the larger ones).
Craft store for all of them (though places like Walmart often have them at a better price). And you don't have to use what I used. You can create a cone from stiff poster board or use anything in place of a button (pompom, a wood bead, or stuffed fabric).

Love this idea!! Great hostess gift or as a special treat for a friend!❤
Totally! Although right now, it's the peppermint candy dish in my craft room. LOL I made it in July and he's due for a refill. LOL
So cute. Fairy lights would look cute if not using candy.

New subscriber! Just found your channel!! I love, love, love this idea!! Thank you for all your inspiration!!
Welcome and thank you for subscribing, Candice.
Hi! I’m new to your channel. I love the gnome. He is simply adorable!
Oh welcome, Trish! Thank you so much - I have oodles of gnomes on this channel and even more on the website. LOL
Just wondering where you found the paper mache cone? I'm not sure that I have ever seen them. Love the cute and simple project.
I bought them from Amazon but sometimes the craft stores have them with the paper maché letters. If you can't find one, you could use a Styrofoam cone and glue the bottom to the top of the lid.
BOOP!
Hahah Have to boop them on their little noses - I can't believe I forgot! :) Thanks for watching, Sandra.
He's great, I'm going to make some. What is the material you used around the bottom of the hat?
For the trim, I used a fabric called "plush fur." You could use the faux fur yarn (from Joann's) or even a lamb's wool fleece or sherpa fabric from Joann's if you can't find the plush fur. I got it at a local fabric store here and cannot find it on Joann's website.
Sarah, where did you purchase the cone shape for the gnomes hat?
I bought a pack of the 7x3 inch paper maché cones on Amazon. I'm pretty sure the craft stores have them but cannot for the life of me remember what section they are in.
Thank you....your gnomes are the sweetest...tfs ❤
Sarah, where did you get the paper cones?
I got the paper maché cones on Amazon, but a reader told me they had them at her local craft store (I never seem them at mine this small, only the larger ones).
Where did you get your cones? are they 7" tall or 7" diameter? Thank you!
They are measured by height in paper maché styles, so look for that.
Where do you get the paper cone, the button nose and the Velcro dots?
Craft store for all of them (though places like Walmart often have them at a better price). And you don't have to use what I used. You can create a cone from stiff poster board or use anything in place of a button (pompom, a wood bead, or stuffed fabric).
@SarahNenniDaher thanks, not that inventive and think that paper mache superior in longevity over poster board. Very cute.
What are measurements of fur rectangle??
Mine was only covering the front part of the gnome, so it's 3 inches.
Directions are way too fast. Cute jars!
Sarah.. you forgot to boop his nose!!
I knowwwww!!!! I was so out of sorts - I made this back in July (hence those pool-party nails) and cannot believe I forgot his boop!
I'm not comfortable with gnomes! When did they get into the Christmas Story?
They're from a different country, along the lines of the Christmas elf.
Cute
