    Finally, somebody said it: almost none of these candidates is talking TO black men, particularly STRAIGHT black men. There's a lot of talking AT black men, and black people in general. Kamala and her minions, for example.

    • @laughingstalk1343
      @laughingstalk1343 4 роки тому +6

      @nauticadon particularly AT black men. Choosing Father's Day to lecture black men who are present in their kids' lives about "M.I.A. baby daddies."
      I have a feeling SOME of Kamala's black female supporters see this 2020 election as "their chance" to have someone who shares their genetic makeup - another black woman - in the White House, after black men got to have Barack Obama for eight years, which seems to be the source of the vitriol towards black men who take Kamala to task on her policies and political history. But Kamala has already let everyone know that her being in the White House will be just as beneficial to black women, as Obama was to black men. That is, it won't go beyond optics, to real beneficial policies. She already said, "NOOOO" to ANY program to SPECIFICALLY address issues facing the black community, particularly #ADOS, but she has proposed initiatives specifically for native Americans, many of whom are white "$5 Indians" who ran the descendants of Freedmen off their reservations, and LGBTQ, many of whom are affluent, influential, and virulently racist against black people.

    • @EANDM71
      @EANDM71 4 роки тому +4

      You admit what this is REALLY about--it's about sticking it to women and "the gays". It's not about what's right for the black community. It's not about caring about family. It's about hatred of women and gays. Let's just be honest. And a lot of black males feel this way; that's why when Obama was running against Hillary, it was "bros before hoes" mantra. Yeah, I remember that. And 15% of black males voted for Trump because they are themselves sexist and misogynist and don't see the value in female leadership. Now, for the record, I can't stand the Clintons, but to assert that they're just like Trump is absolute NONSENSE and you--and the other black males who support Trump and the Republicans--do, too! Ya'll need to deal with your misogynist issues for real. Black women are NOT your enemy. If anything, we are the most loyal to ya'll!!

      And so did Bill Cosby. And so did Steve Harvey. And so does Kanye West. And while I don't agree with what Obama did, black folk have been having these discussions for decades! Let's not pretend that we don't have the same criticisms of our people and those people do.

    • @laughingstalk1343
      @laughingstalk1343 4 роки тому +5

      @@EANDM71 ???
      By and large, I doubt black men in America have an issue with female leadership. Many of us have grown up seeing our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other women in our communities in prominent positions.
      I can't speak for all, but any issue I had between Hillary and Barack in 2008 had little to do with race or gender, but ideas and policies. In fact, I was more inclined to support Dennis Kucinich in the primary.
      We have learned through 8 years of Obama, that just because a President looks like you, and even faces some of the same issues as you, doesn't mean that he/she will share your interests. Kamala is nothing but Barack Obama 2.0. Has she shown that she has any interest in the black community, besides when it's time to dance and party, which also could put your average white supremacist in this category?
      This isn't about "sticking it" to any group. This is about preventing anyone from "sticking it" to us.

I've been a registered voter since the early 90's and so far, this is an election I'm seriously thinking about staying at home for or working as an election judge and withholding my vote. Not even Corey Booker, particularly since he's out of touch with a large demographic of a particular caliber of B1ack men who've: 1) Served in the military, 2) Have strong sense of family values, 3) Are non-degreed professionals, 4) Are ambitious leaders, 5) B1ack men who promote a positive B1ack Community.

      They don't even read Cory's affordable housing plan is one of the best: www.nytimes.com/2019/06/05/us/politics/booker-renters-credit.htmlHis economic plan for black America: slate.com/business/2018/10/cory-booker-economic-plan-baby-bonds-reparations.htmlIs Cory perfect? No. None of the Democratic candidates are--not even Saint Bernie! And definitely not Trump. What is Trump's housing plan? What is his economic plan for black America? All he did was stifle black businesses and discriminate in housing. Gave nothing to black colleges and universities other than a photo op!Rather than mobilizing for Cory, black males act as if they have no power. I will NEVER believe that black men have zero power. If they really wanted to, they can make shit happen rather than just relying on black women to advocate on their behalf. If black men all came together to help build, it wouldn't even matter who was in office. But us waiting for a savior--President Obama was not!--will be our downfall. No politician is perfect. But they expected Obama to be infallible in every single thing he did, all while being obstructed by Republicans in Congress. Rather than blame those Republicans (and cowardly Democrats) for what they did to Obama, they blame Obama himself. Again, an imperfect candidate, but I notice that no one holds Republicans accountable for their behavior.

    This was an excellent discussion because the two of you nailed the ‘WHY’ behind the small percent of Blacks who have and will vote for the current president and the larger percentage of Blacks who did not vote in 2016 and are not being campaigned by the current array of presidential candidates. What can also be tragically overlooked are the down ballot candidates who can retain the house majority, who can regain a senate majority as well as the state and local candidates who have a localized impact on our neighborhoods and our communities.
    One point ☝️ overlooked is the need to voice our demands so we can vet candidates on how they plan to meet our quality of life issues as Black men and women in America. These can be key 🔑 roles for men and women of the larger percentage of Black voters who can make a difference in 2020!
