Can you use the footswitch function as a clean/dirty channel?
Great review, but it would be helpful if you indicated during the demo when you have the master volume engaged and when you have it switched out of the circuit.
Does anyone know how the OR50 differ (tone wise) from the Retro 50 ?

I love higher gain stuff at the end. It has that awesome crunchy edgy sustain. WOW love it. Want it next to my Sovtek MIG 60

That's a fair point, but at the same time, these demos aren't really intended to be studio quality recordings, they're just supposed to give you a general idea of the sonic characteristics of whatever they're demoing, which I think this video does a perfectly reasonable job of. Sure it sounds a bit thin and washed-out, but you can still totally hear that it's a pretty vintage-voiced amp with a lot more gain and not, say, a Dual Rec or JVM.
is that les paul original vintage or a VOS?
Man, that's my kind of metal tone; punchy and full of midrange! It sounded absolutely killer for those Sabbath and Rhoads riffs.

I already check the OR100 and it seems that is a complete different amp from the OR50.. I really wanted the OR100 with the same features as the OR50 just adding a good FX loop... The OR100 seems to be a more versatile amp but what I really like from the OR50 was the HF Drive attenuator and the HD drive...
Sounds REAL.
There's now the OR100, from what I can tell it's basically this amp with a clean channel and an FX loop. And it's 100 watts of course.
Please do a demo of the OR15. I hear it is very different from the OR50 even though they have made it look like a mini version of one.

This is the first amp were I go: 'Wow, this is the tone I'm looking for!'. Sabbath, Sleep, AC/DC, Randy Rhoads, ... It has it all. Kick-ass!
This amp sounds so good on orange cabs, but playing it on my marshall 1960B, highs are too harsh and it just screams too much. Should i get v30's as a better fit for this head?
+DoughBoY Consider getting a Marshall 1960BV (note the "V") cab? The "v" ones sound very different than the regular ones.

The amp really shines doing the classic rock thing, which is why that's featured in most videos. But you can tell from this video that it's capable of getting some good high gain tones (in a vintage sort of way). If you wanna play more modern music you probably don't want this anyways. Get a rockerverb, two channels, FX loop, much better suited for more "modern music"

The fact that you don't use an Fx loop doesn't means that other people don't need one. Orange amps have a great loop.
Good review but pity there wasn't more demonstration of the controls/ sounds available on the amp. All the LP stuff sounded pretty much the same. I'm sure the amp does more than drop-d metal riffage…

Sure are, Jimmy Page used a similar Orange Amp back in the day, actually may have been the original handwired OR50 and when Orange reissued the OR50 in 2008 they gave Mr. Page serial # 1
At 9:58 your gain setting looks different in the inset from the full amp shot. So which is it?

anyone who has this amp, or played it...could you give me an example of how heavy the tone can get ? Can you get a Zakk Wylde kinda tone out of this ? some 80's thrash metal ?
Theres lots of gain on tap, but it gets a little spongey and squishy, low end gives out a bit. Not the same as a hot rodded marshall type of overdrive. Its not the best for thrash and stuff that wants more of a tight bottom end. This is better for classic rock (with mid gain) or stoner/desert rock when cranked.

This is great but i dont understand why the amp dosent have an fx loop :s
Amp definitely sounds better with LP. Strat doesn't jive with the whole Iommi thang that the amp has going for it. Jordan seems like he would be more comfortable playing SRV or Boston, Foreigner, etc. than the metal he was trying to conjure up.

Why can't I find more than one video of people playing this head that isn't playing classic rock? You know there are young people that'd like to hear what this sounds like for modern music that can't really find one in a local music shop. At least play something that young and older people know like some nirvana or something.
Please equalize the video so the voice wouldn't be that loud and annoying. Skipped the intro, it's unlistenable.
Tell the truth? I'm very disappointed very lame amp.
