Dear Dan Hicks always loved you my friend since I first heard you in 1971 we called you a music foobar music rest in peace my dear friend I’ll never forget when we played drunken pool at the Cotati cabaret in 1978 love you Dan
Me too, David...I got turned on to Dan in high school and he's helped me groove my whole life long. Love, love, love Dan and everything Hot Licks-but Mary Anne was my fave.
Genius entertainer! I've been following Dan & The Hot Licks for 40 years... In this video, check out the little blonde Lickette... Susan Rabin. Besides being and excellent vocalist, she has a smile that will light a room!
This looks like the tour when we were about 5 feet from the stage in Fairfeild,CT and I heard Dan ask what are we doing next? So I said what about Evenin Breeze. Dan looked at me and started giving me a ration of shit about his carefully crafted setlist and the time and effort that went into it and that they couldn't just change it for me,, and turned to the band and said Evenin Breeze.Haha.
ROW or Wade? Back in the 70s pregnant out of Wedlock was a big problem. French Indochina was coming to a close, everywhere were unclaimed BABIES. Dan's Lick~Ettes, had to Speak Jiberish from Maine to San Diego and back to Seattle.
Is this in Fairfield,CT? If so, Dan was hemming and hawing about what song was next and I said How about Evenin Breeze Dan? He turned and started giving me all sorts of crap about his carefully crafted setlist and did I think they they could change it just for me,, and turned to the band and said Evenin Breeze. I loved that moment and wicked miss going to see Dan.
244/24 Was A Tudor Ford parked in Winter Garden. That night a Blue Ford out ran a Motorcycle Cop. Some Pseudo intellectual, blamed it all on a Bicycle chase of a Sugar Bear... Guess We'll never know!

Had tix to see Dan on 4/15/2015 when it was announced on April Fool's Day that the tour was suspended because of his illness. Alas, it was no joke.

Don't know what kind of music it is he's playing, but it's great. Been good since I first heard it in 1973. Couple of the tunes make me kind of teary.
Bluezy, swing, jassy
Too-oo gOO-ood!
Just fabulous... Does anybody know where and when this was taped? It looks like a venue in Chicago where i saw Dan's group perform. RIP Dan.
Sausalito folk-jazz
Pure joy!
But wait, you're right about the little blondie. It's just me-jealous to the bone. All I ever wanted in life was to be a Lickette.
And I wanted to be one of his Lickmen. (That what he sometimes called the guys in his band.)
