    I think my favourite interview of all you've done and even a positive note to end on (I've long asserted that humanity is better now than at any time in the past and actually there's more of a rarity in "bad" human acts that they get highlighted more, hence why we have the perception as humans that humanity is worse).

      @Pushin:Buttons agree 100%. Elon is just a figurehead. He's not the CEO of SpaceX, nor was he a founder of Tesla, but everyone thinks Elon is some super genius. Most of his wealth is tied in Tesla, whose stock price, and hence his net worth, popped like a bubble recently.
      Also his decision to buy Twitter based on him wanting to preserve free speech and not for economic reasons has been proven to be a load of bullshit. He paid way over the odds for the platform and now is trying to monetize use of Twitter. So much for some philanthropic super genius...

    THIS GUEST IS DANGEROUS:
    He is basically saying, “Don’t worry. It’s no big deal what’s going on today.”
    1. The correlation between people believing in witches to people believing humanity is coming to an end is not any kind of legitimate comparison. One is based on superstition and the other fact.
    2. The movie, “Look Up” is NOT “frothy” at all! It’s not a silly look at the “climate crisis.” Because governments, en masse, are ignoring the urgency because they have no F-N idea what to do BECAUSE to DO anything will be a problem for capitalism … a system 85% of the world runs on. Fossil fuel = Capitalism.
    3. “We don’t film houses NOT burning,” as an axiom for the media. Unfortunately, it’s NOT just a simple snap-shot we can ignore because the rest of the world ISN’T on fire! BS! Because it’s not just a single snap shot anymore - it’s hundreds. PLEASE NOTE: there is water-use we can’t afford to waste; there are food crops being destroyed, and these are not small fires. These are hundreds of MILES, with animal extinctions. That SNAP-SHOT says A LOT!
    FUN FACT: Orcas (fish) have apparently made a connection between boats destroying marine life - that they are now attacking and destroying boats.

  • @twogsds
    @twogsds Рік тому +3

    Men! Wtf? Why do human beings have to be so aggressively competitive? Why can't we fking cooperate like a rising tide lifts all boats? Fish understand Electric Eels!

    • @ripace554
      @ripace554 Рік тому

      If we hadn't been so aggressively competitive, we never would have developed to the point that we have as a species. Evolution is brutal.
      Also, women are just as capable of aggression and competitiveness as men - they just express it differently. Don't be under some sort of illusion that a world populated exclusively by feminity would be all peace and love and mutual understanding. Because it must certainly would not.

    "less poverty" bruh are they measuring the success of humanity based on the western sphere/world of poltics (again) because the global south is still struggling (some maybe progressing, but no where near enough to say....oh humans are progressing on that scale 🤨). Makes me wonder where that journalists got his infographic information from....

    • @aituk
      @aituk Рік тому +2

      The number of people living in extreme poverty has fallen rapidly in recent decades.
      If you think where we were 100 years ago I think it's safe to say the world is doing quite well.

    • @venmis137
      @venmis137 Рік тому +2

      The opposite. If you were looking only at the West you could make an argument that standards of living have stagnated. If you look outside the West it's clear that they have improved significantly over the last 30 years.

    • @aituk
      @aituk Рік тому

      @@venmis137 They've not stagnated in the west either. Poverty is now measured as relative because actual poverty is at an all time low.

    Note: "the authoritarian block and the 'American-lead block'" are the terms Tim used. Not the democratic block, the "American-lead block". Very subtle and apt word use to imply how much of a shambles western so called 'democracy' is in right now.
    And regarding Tim's last comment about current politics where he says "understand them, but dont worry about them. Because whats that going to do" I think is an extremely asinine thing to say. We have record homelessness, record poverty, record wealth inequality and many other huge systemic issues that impact people's daily fundamental lives and your suggestion to those people is just 'dont worry about living on the street and not being able to buy food, Its not like you have the black death or are fighting a world war so you have it good in comparison'. Its just ridiculous, worrying about them is going to prompt action, its going to bring people together to persue justice and its important because otherwise nothing WILL happen.
    To quote a genius scene from an old film called "Network":
    "All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad. You’ve got to say: ‘I’m a human being, god-dammit! My life has value!'"

    "We need to get the minrals from space that we need for our renewable technology here." How about not wasting the resources we have here on this crap and instead focus on keeping earth as a planet on which humans can live? Is it really too much to ask for some restraint knowing what will happen if we do not manage to slow climate change down? How many minerals and other resources are wasted to get a few minerals back to earth? He clearly didn't think that one through.
