I hope this may help you. I lost my dad when i was 22.I was devastated for months.i was young and didnt understand.34 years later my Mum died aged 94 - i cared for her for 8 years, she was such a beautiful loving soul(!) When she passed i became "the strongest" of 5 (even though i am usually the most emotional).A "peace" and "knowing" came over me.I was guided by "something or someone" who gave me strength.I was also more mature at age 56.When my Mum passed strange and weird things happened...too numerous to mention(!) That was when the penny dropped. Now i am not "religious" but I KNOW now that there is LIFE after passing...your SPIRIT LIVES ON! Be grateful for the love you have received from those who have passed to the next life,THEY ARE ALWAYS WITH YOU.They are not here physically and it hurts so much (i know). But remember the good times - and more importantly - they would not want you to be SAD. Meditate, visualise, thats how you can connect...ask for help..sometimes it comes and sometimes it doesnt - but know they are there with you. Be happy KNOWING that they are with you no matter where u are,and their love NEVER leaves you.LOVE IS ETERNAL.

Thank u for the reply it means a lot .. it's now 11 weeks since she died and I too have felt such a presence around me at times , in fact the morning she died an hour before I got the phone call to tell me of her passing I had the feeling of hugging her close to me in bed , it was like she was there , she was not in the same country as me when she passed but I felt her so strongly with me .
When I woke an hour later I received the message to tell me she had died ... it seems too much of a coincidence that I could feel her with me at that exact time .
Since then I too also believe that our energy continues after we pass and that she's with me always , it's a great comfort to me .... I am not religious , in fact I considered myself an Atheist before that moment , I still do not believe in a god , but I do believe our consciousness continues after it leaves our bodies ... I am now convinced of it after what I have experienced

@@joenation1000 meditation = connection, that is what i have experienced mate. Knowing that our bodies die physically, but our spirits live on is my belief too.You have to focus on your happiness as i know thats what my Mum and Dad would have wanted. Live, Love, contribute, do what you love, be grateful and be happy.

Jesus loves you more than anything in this world and only He can give you real peace, comfort and hope. This is my best friend's story. I pray it is a help to you.
      Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey
      Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
      His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
      Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c)

    I have left the earth,
    But I am still about,
I kiss your cheek at night,
    When your light is out.
    I am the wind,
    That blows in your hair,
    I am spirit now,
    I am near.
    I sit on your shoulder,
I see all that you do,
    My body is gone,
Still my love is with you.
    When times are tough,
    I hold your hand,
    You are never alone,
    Together we stand.
    If you are in trouble,
    I shall help you out,
    I am your instinct
    When you doubt.
    I am the angel
    Assigned to you,
    You will never be alone,
For I am next to you.

My dad died a few months ago and I am really struggling (I'm not sure how I'm struggling for one thing). Brave face and all that - no one knows! but I feel so sad all the time. So guilty (why?) and so different (defeated, frankly) - and I don't seem to be able to shake it off. People who know me don't seem to perceive my current mood as far as I know - although I might be wrong about that (they're very good people!).
    BUT! (That's a big "but" - I know). This really has helped. It's a start. Thank-you :)

I came across your comment at the grief of love ones post here on UA-cam. ☹️That’s so touching and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all loss our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I truly understand how you feel cos I’ve felt same unbearable experiences before but death is just inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve loss will always want to see us happy again wherever they’re. I loss my oldest daughter Annabel February 24th 2020 in a crucial car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unlucky for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamenting day of my whole life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife passed away three years ago from a shocking disease, I felt devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 but God and time are indeed the best healers. Hope you’ve found peace, comfort and happiness again?
I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! So it would be nice to get a reply from you when you got time okay. 🌹🌹

WE ARE NEVER READY FOR THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE! Each of us is left to ‘cope!’ Often on our own! I’ve learned that ‘patience’ is important! So often, we feel the need to ‘hurry up’ and get ‘things’ done!! No! Live one day at a time!! You can do no more than that!!!!

I lost my one and only younger brother 7 days ago to a hemorrhagic stroke. It was too sudden. I feel he was too good to leave. A loving brother, a son and a father to his 3 kids. He worked so hard and didn’t have it easy his whole life. Our dad died young and mum re-married and lived faraway. As life was improving he didn’t get to enjoy this little success. Everyone tired him, depended on him but hardly showed appreciation for everything he had done for his family, our mother and half-sister. I’m stuck in anger. Would trade everything to have him back because he deserved to be alive. I’m broken but trying to help everyone in the family. I lashed out at everyone especially my mother for the constant quarrels and hurtful words hurled at my brother despite how much he cared and loved her. Can’t function normally these last few days. One moment I’m lost another I felt spirited for the kids. I know he is in a happier place. I will try to pull through but everything has changed forever. I know I have to stabilise the family for his sake.

Grief is like a car payment. If it’s a pinto or a Cadillac. It’s how you value that person. You can pay that payment off daily, weekly, monthly, that debt is due. You have to face it or that interest builds up and it becomes overwhelming. Counselors are just debt counselors. Make your payments and you’ll get through it.

I can understand a sudden unexpected death being devastating, but what do you think about rational logical thinking. We are all terminal. We are all going to die eventually and accepting this fact or am I insensitive ? Is that way of thinking just too simplistic? I have not encountered grief or a big loss in my life yet but it will come. Maybe I will feel completely different when it actually happens. It's as thou I am coming too terms with a loss before it has actually happened.

Paul Fallows I lost my husband a very short while ago and he was still relatively young. It was very sudden. We had often spoken about death and logically we understood that, yes, all things die eventually. I don’t think you are being insensitive in pointing this out. In dealing with my grief I have realised that logical thinking can go out of the window. The wave of emotions I have felt have been overwhelming. I can go from being an emotional wreck to an emotionless robot in a short space of time. I think as a society, death and grief is not spoken about openly, even though you can never truly prepare for it. My only advice is to cherish every moment with the ones you love and care for, as you never know when they may be taken from you. Not sure if this is of any help or answers your question in any way, but I did not find your comment insensitive.

Could you say that you are 100% sure that you would have a home in heaven? What are you basing that on? If you are basing it on anything other than your faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, you do not understand God's way to heaven.
The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Our sin separates us from God.
      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Jesus loved us so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in our place so that we could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.
There is no greater love than that!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today!
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
      6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him!
You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to anyone who will simply receive it by faith.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must repent, change your mind and admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must simply call on Him and ask Him to save you.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Please don't wait. Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will!

Do you recommend that people use antidepressants to cope after major loss? If grief never goes away, why not just numb out with drugs or alcohol? It'll still be there when I sober up, if I understand this properly. If it never goes away, I can either choose to wallow in the pain, or I can numb out on drugs or alcohol (or whatever) indefinitely. Either way, it's still there. I think it is better to have breaks from the grief, even if you have to drink yourself into a stupor to get the job done.

It may open your mind to seeing new perspectives but don't let it become habitual or depend upon it. Why, because that's then going down a dangerous path that may destroy you. As Frida Karhlo once said, I tried to drown my sorrows but they learn't to swim' .

Only if you are suffering from depression. Depression and grief is a terrible mix. Cause you dont know which part is depression and which parts is grief. Meds have helped me with the depression part a bit but the grieving needs to run its course.
