I hope her owners will help her manage her fur from now on. It looks awfully thick for this obese cat to manage on her own, especially as she gets older. If they can help her lose weight she'll be more flexible and able to clean her under tail area better.
Yeah, that wasn't cat swearing. When a cat starts spitting f-bombs and anti-human slurs at you, there's no mistaking it for anything else. This was just "I don't like this" and "why is this happening to me?"
If I understand that crate design properly, it's a "high security" design that is intended to keep an very angy critter from rushing out the door and attacking your arm when you open it. Instead of a door hinged on one side and swinging open, it's just a cage wall that's fixed on the bottom shell and releasable from the top - when you pull the tabs in the middle, it releases from the top and you pull the bottom out. This provides a shield to the front that keeps your hands away from the door, keeps the critter from lunging straight out, and allows a helper to come in from the top with a blanket. Or so I'm told.
lol poor baby. she's uncomfortable and nervous, but she knows she's not in any danger. kudos to her guardian for making sure she knows she's safe in the hands of humans even if she doesn't like what's happening. also her sad face is just adorable ❤
@@daniolus "Cats has to be groomed to be ealthy"... Lol maybe some genetical aberration from breeders, maybe... Cats are perfectly capable to care for themselves. This is unecessary stress to fullfill unecessary quirks of the owners.
The crate is modeled like drawer. You pull the tabs and the bottom of the crate (the blue part) will come out like a drawer. This is so you don’t have to reach into the crate to coax out a less than willing cat. Sweet baby looked so much happier after you cleaned her up 😊
I knew it! I kept saying "you pull it out like a drawer" the whole time, but I thought if that was true that she surely would have figured it out! hahahah.
Mayhaps the maker of said crate should put an icon explaining that somewhere on the crate. I’ve opened hundreds of these and was just as lost as Vanessa.
I use that crate for my cat that HATES the vet due to a blood disease he contracted from a flea right after we adopted him. They slide forward. Your suppose to pull the sides in then slide the entire blue section forward. It's to avoid having to zip up or close a normal gate. Super helpful when your furry friend is super pissed about his/her bloodwork and trying to murder anything coming close to the front of their carrier. Edit for the small discussion going on in the comments: This carrier is not used very widely. I had it recommended by a vet tech as my cat who is normally very docile and lapcat type, became a demonic entity intent on murdering every person in the clinic due to his bi weekly blood draws for 2 months. But other than the tech who recommended it, not even the vet or other techs knew how it worked and had to be walked through it. I later had that initial carrier broken when we tried to kennel my cat for a trip and the worker tried to brute force the gate open and snapped it. Was my fault for not instruction on proper usage. So I can totally understand why they don't know how it works here. Great for getting a uncooperative animal in and out of the carrier, but very odd to work till you use it once.
It almost like the owner assumed that the groomer had access to google which would have walked her through opening it and figured a with a popular brand like that didn't want to feel like they were mansplaining to a long standing groomer
Yeah seeing this comment, at the end of the video you can definitely see the blue slides out… I’ve never seen a crate like it, thank you for your comment
@@ShugoAWay that's banking on the idea that she has the time for that. she doesn't. with every passing minute searching and watching videos on it the cat is getting more stressed and wasting the time she needs to actually perform the groom.
It's actually not complicated at all, only tedious. The gate has a screw/nut at the bottom and the top has the two on the sides. EDIT: Apparently it also has a sliding insert you are supposed to use.
@@Dowlphin it isn't supposed to be disassembled at all lmao. You pinch the lever on the door like normal then slide the blue tray forward it's actually super easy
ok i get it but how is that easy. when there is nothing holding the gray outer shell from just sliding together with the blue part. Especially when there is a cat weighing down on the blue tray... over engineered for no good reason... what is a cat going to do to get out lick its way out of the cage? As long as they can't get their paws out trough a gap all it can do is meow....
Izzy just went straight to screaming. I used to babysit pets. And Izzy was a good cat. Her brother, Himbo, loved going for walks. Not me carrying him, but him with his little boots, yanking on the leash to get me to go faster.
Why do people get long hair cats and dogs if they won't maintain them? Urine soaked mats... Unacceptable. Especially on such a tolerant cat. A sani shave isn't expensive. Brushing your own cat is free. A simple brush out at the groomers is cheap. It's infuriating and one of the many things I don't miss about grooming.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I have had long haired cats most of my life and I combed or cut out matted hair myself. I never let it get bad. I bathe my cats and trim their claws I even occasionally brush their teeth which is a major fight. Long haired cats require maintainance which apparently many people aren't doing and the cat pays the price. Inkie my long haired black kitty girl she was a modest lady and she HATED when I trimmed her rear end. She kept her tail down until it grew out. All my kitties would have been mortified having their hair shaved. I feel for these cats.
The crate action is a pretty good reenactment of the time our feverish 5 year old had to open a child-proof medicine bottle himself when two adults couldn’t figure it out 😂
We have one of those crates, the blue part pulls out like a drawer! They’re particularly great for injured animals because you don’t have to yank them out of the hole and cause more pain.
What a beauty! I've had a dilute calico, but have never seen a long-haired one. I DO speak kitty, and YES - she was cussing you out. But in a dignified way. She IS a cat after all. She may have been vocal, but she didn't try to gut you. So I'd say that it was a successful intervention. I believe that there's a medal of valour for groomers who do what you did here without any serious injuries. Congrats!
Yeah, poor Hazel - despite all her vocal complaints, she was remarkably patient, and I do hope her skin feels much better now all that impacted matting & acidic waste buildup is gone! Gosh, long-haired cats do seem like they need an awful lot of extra care from their humans to help manage those coat challenges, esp. if they have naturally sensitive skin or are outside pets also picking up burrs and twigs etc...?
As a person with a cat who cries the whole way through her baths, the sounds just a little less completely stressed out but stills sounds like a constant “help me, I don’t like this, help me, help”
I think I've seen this crate in instagram before. You pull the door towards you and the whole blue base part slides out. Some vets prefer it for cats because they can just pull it out and give the cat the shot in the crate base instead of having to try and fight a scared cat to get out of a crate with only a front door. Also love Hazel's meows. My cat was worried for her when she could hear her meowing and came to see what was going on
@@dericofdorking I don't believe the grill part comes off. The whole bottom tray part including the grill slides out and you can remove the cat (or dog or other animal) from the top. It's supposed to be easier for vets to access the animal. The video I saw of a vet using it just pulled the whole thing and gave the cat it's shots without removing it from the base. He pulled the grill towards him and the whole base slid out
Gosh, that doesn’t sound intuitive at all. They could have solved that with a simple sign on the crate somewhere saying pull towards you. Thanks for the explanation!
There was a study on Pallas cat, I believe it was an Asian group. The one fact they could all agree on after hours of measuring, poking and prodding….this cat is round.

Omg, that poor girl sounded so scared, but she acted so good! I was worried her kitty timer would run out, but she stayed pretty calm, all things considered! Well done Hazel and Vanessa!
Oh poor Hazel!! Poor you 😅 ... I love your episodes, you know, you just somehow inject such reality into the situation, but you are so kind to the animals as well as yourself. ❤
All my cats have been moggies, domestic short-hairs and they have all been very very vocal. My Mum maintains it's because I talk so much and they just copied 😂 Luna literally yells at me if I'm busy doing something and she's not getting enough attention.
Mine starts meowing the moment she is put into the crate and she doesn't shut up until she is released at home. It's a constant meow the entire time she is at the vet.
I had a Maine Coon like this. When I moved from Flagstaff to Albuquerque, he cried the whole 4 and a half hours. That set off his 2 brothers and only one of them would respond to my voice telling them it was okay. So I listened to 2 Maine Coon cats singing the song of their people the whole drive. Longest drive EVER!
@@grif0716 Luna shouts all the time the car is running, she hates that. She then goes back to her normal chatter, she doesn't mind the vets. I had one kitty that would meow the entire time, she also liked to hold onto me with a paw through the bars. Luna was a kitten in the pandemic and so her first few vets visits she had to go in without me, so the staff gave her lots of cuddles and treats.
This girl looks so much like my childhood cat that it hurts a little, but she's much sweeter than my old girl was! I'm glad she did so well for her groom! My cat would never have stood for this.
Poor kitty cat! Those mats! Why are they not brushing Hazel every day? - or at least 3 times a week! My medium haired cat needs regular brushing - he loves it - my hubby just shows him the brush & he comes running! It’s bonding time! That IS one stoooo- pid crate! Throw it in the “FAIL” pile! So funny that Hazel stays in the crate even when the lid is finally off.
I gotta say, one of my favorite things in your videos is when your cameraman coos at the animals - he sounds so enamoured with each and every one of them! He's their hypeman behind the scenes, haha! :D
Doesn’t surprise me how vocal Hazel was, since she’s a tortie. My tortie is VERY vocal as well, and they WILL let you know loud and clear when they are unhappy.
The cat's poise and bravery throughout the grooming process speak volumes about the trust and comfort she feels with her human. It's so rewarding to see a well-behaved cat accepting care, making what could be a stressful process seem like an intimate bonding moment. A heartwarming and instructive video for all pet lovers! 🐱💖
I understand your pain completely!! When I was a vet tech, one of the worst parts of the job was dealing with all the crazy crates that people brought their pets in! 😂
That carrier was actually recommended to me by a vet tech due to one of my cats becoming a Hellspawn whenever he was brought in. It slides like a drawer and was the only way we could get him back in the carrier without him going crazy after his blood draws. Anything with a zipper or trying to close a gate would just get you attacked. With this, you could scruff him till it was almost closed then pull hand out while pushing forward. Much more convenient for the cat, tech, and myself.
My vet always compliments the rigid board inside the fleece liner of my rabbit’s carrier. You can just slide her out like a drawer and move her around the exam table on her little charcuterie board lmao
Listen...it's a GOOD day when the cat crate is harder to deal with than the cat itself lol

I hope her owners will help her manage her fur from now on. It looks awfully thick for this obese cat to manage on her own, especially as she gets older. If they can help her lose weight she'll be more flexible and able to clean her under tail area better.
Air on her crotch! She'll be happy later!
Yeah, that wasn't cat swearing. When a cat starts spitting f-bombs and anti-human slurs at you, there's no mistaking it for anything else. This was just "I don't like this" and "why is this happening to me?"
I totally agree!!!!
I thought you meant the cat was going to be the death of you...nope you meant the crate!
same!
Yep
If I understand that crate design properly, it's a "high security" design that is intended to keep an very angy critter from rushing out the door and attacking your arm when you open it.
Instead of a door hinged on one side and swinging open, it's just a cage wall that's fixed on the bottom shell and releasable from the top - when you pull the tabs in the middle, it releases from the top and you pull the bottom out. This provides a shield to the front that keeps your hands away from the door, keeps the critter from lunging straight out, and allows a helper to come in from the top with a blanket. Or so I'm told.
I, too, was sure it was going to be the cat! But instead it was a crate from hell.
Clickbait title and thumbnail doing its job huh lol.
lol poor baby. she's uncomfortable and nervous, but she knows she's not in any danger. kudos to her guardian for making sure she knows she's safe in the hands of humans even if she doesn't like what's happening. also her sad face is just adorable ❤
1:37 Aaah my heart oOo she looks so sad and yet she is so polite. What a lovely cat.
It's cute how talkative she is.
chatty cats are the best
Cute stress display...
@@BresciGaetano you can't win em' all, unfortunately. Cat has to be groomed to be healthy, so it's a necessary evil.
@@daniolus "Cats has to be groomed to be ealthy"... Lol maybe some genetical aberration from breeders, maybe...
Cats are perfectly capable to care for themselves. This is unecessary stress to fullfill unecessary quirks of the owners.
@@BresciGaetano the cat's pussy hair was matted and soaked in piss. Idk what to tell you
The crate is modeled like drawer. You pull the tabs and the bottom of the crate (the blue part) will come out like a drawer. This is so you don’t have to reach into the crate to coax out a less than willing cat.
Sweet baby looked so much happier after you cleaned her up 😊
I googled what you said and it came up the “van ness pets calm carrier” and those images show the drawer action you said
Now Vanessa knows, from your explanation. Cool.
I knew it! I kept saying "you pull it out like a drawer" the whole time, but I thought if that was true that she surely would have figured it out! hahahah.
😮😮😮
It would have been nice if the owner had given Vanessa a clue that this crate does not work like the usual crates.
Thank you for someone finally explaining how to open it!!!
@@ShugoAWay that's banking on the idea that she has the time for that. she doesn't. with every passing minute searching and watching videos on it the cat is getting more stressed and wasting the time she needs to actually perform the groom.
Aww! Her meows are adorable! She sounds like my stomatitis girl. What a good girl. She’s upset, but so polite about her displeasure.
poor baby, shes so sad. But she was so gentle and behaved. Excellent lion cut! very pretty kitty
I’ll assume that putting the cage back together will be even more difficult than taking it apart
It's actually not complicated at all, only tedious. The gate has a screw/nut at the bottom and the top has the two on the sides.
EDIT: Apparently it also has a sliding insert you are supposed to use.
I think they were joking?
Yeah
@@Dowlphin it isn't supposed to be disassembled at all lmao. You pinch the lever on the door like normal then slide the blue tray forward it's actually super easy
ok i get it but how is that easy. when there is nothing holding the gray outer shell from just sliding together with the blue part. Especially when there is a cat weighing down on the blue tray... over engineered for no good reason... what is a cat going to do to get out lick its way out of the cage? As long as they can't get their paws out trough a gap all it can do is meow....
Hazel was telling you two things. She was scared, and she was trying to be good. But y'all made it through the day with no cat-astrophes.
Hazel's eyes really made it seem like she was nervous the entire time. What a sweet kitty
Resting sad face
It made me sad I could tell she was really stressed
She was. Licking her nose as well.
Eyes and ears. She was clearly terrified and loud noises and not so gentle human didn't help.
@@Silthria how was she not so gentle?
I love how Hazel literally says "Meow"
Do we ever get just passing updates on kitties? This one is BEYOND adorable, and I hope she is having a beautiful life
I love how cats start with polite little news and gradually get louder and more demanding as you ignore them.
When they start to howl, I think that means, "I will NOT forgive this!"
Izzy just went straight to screaming.
I used to babysit pets. And Izzy was a good cat. Her brother, Himbo, loved going for walks. Not me carrying him, but him with his little boots, yanking on the leash to get me to go faster.
Hazel looked a little horrified at one point. "This woman has raised my leg and is removing my fur, why is this my life?"
The saddest cat in the world 😂

Though Hazel was no doubt delighted to be rid of that 'stale pee' smell she had unfortunately acquired.
I love when you meow back at the cats, glad that’s a universal thing every pet owner does ☺️❤️
And she sounds a lot more like a cat than I can.
@@SchoolforHackers Practicing the language every day is key!
Yep. Even though my cat is totally deaf I still answer her back.
I swear seeing Hazel is like watching a sheep get seared. So fluffy!
Hazel is an ENORMOUS body pillow 😂 Edit: well now she looks like a seal

JAIL 😂😭
Hazel was very polite considering her displeasure. Bet she feels SO much better! 👍😎

Vanessa not only is the best pet groomer but always has the best manicure.
Also, poor grumpy kitty.
Vanessa - your patience is inspiring! Believe it or not - Hazel is grateful to be clean! Thank you for being so kind and thorough! She SLAYS!
The crate action is a pretty good reenactment of the time our feverish 5 year old had to open a child-proof medicine bottle himself when two adults couldn’t figure it out 😂
Omg 🤣🤣🤣
My son was 6 and could open them.
Poor Hazel! Her piteous meows somehow manage to be both heartbreaking and hilarious… 😂
We have one of those crates, the blue part pulls out like a drawer! They’re particularly great for injured animals because you don’t have to yank them out of the hole and cause more pain.
This is what I thought!
Something tells me, this kitty is VERY much a "I'll scream until I get what I want" kinda cat lol. Super vocal baby!!!
Congrats!
Kitty was just sad and wanted her people, she was very polite. What a great girl she was ❤ She didn’t cuss you out at all 😂
My cats are mewing in concern, wanting to comfort Hazel.
Or Ashes knows she’s looking at her own future
Yeah, poor Hazel - despite all her vocal complaints, she was remarkably patient, and I do hope her skin feels much better now all that impacted matting & acidic waste buildup is gone!
Gosh, long-haired cats do seem like they need an awful lot of extra care from their humans to help manage those coat challenges, esp. if they have naturally sensitive skin or are outside pets also picking up burrs and twigs etc...?
@@anna_in_aotearoa3166 Ashes just doesn’t properly groom herself. And since she’s not a kitten anymore, Gold isn’t helping her
Aw man, I hate to see a cat shaved, but she’s got to be worlds more comfortable now. And the poodle-looking cut is hilarious and adorable. 😊
I think these animals tell you all their problems just like I do to my poor hairdresser. I love how you meow back🐾
Your comment tickled me to pieces!!! 😂
i just got this crate yesterday, i think i laughed a little too hard watching you struggle - only because i had to put the darn thing together
Hazel didn't try to bite, so, she seemed pretty well behaved albeit unhappy.
she has the most precious meow I have ever heard, what a sweet old lady
As a person with a cat who cries the whole way through her baths, the sounds just a little less completely stressed out but stills sounds like a constant “help me, I don’t like this, help me, help”
My first thought, when you opened the crate and started petting Hazel, was "ELEVATOR BUTT!"
A button. A button for Butt On.
Her meows were so polite!
I loved hearing you mimic her meows lol, I started doing that with cats when I was a kid and I still do it lol
Hazel has the reverse mullet--long in front, short in back--and she is demanding to speak to a manager, of course!
call that the Barbary lion cut
Her meowing in the happy hoodie was soooooo cute 😭
"Little does she she know that for the first time in a long time, she's going to feel the air on her crotch "😂😂😂
It was pitiful
I think I've seen this crate in instagram before. You pull the door towards you and the whole blue base part slides out. Some vets prefer it for cats because they can just pull it out and give the cat the shot in the crate base instead of having to try and fight a scared cat to get out of a crate with only a front door. Also love Hazel's meows. My cat was worried for her when she could hear her meowing and came to see what was going on
But how do you remove the grill part?
@@dericofdorking I don't believe the grill part comes off. The whole bottom tray part including the grill slides out and you can remove the cat (or dog or other animal) from the top. It's supposed to be easier for vets to access the animal. The video I saw of a vet using it just pulled the whole thing and gave the cat it's shots without removing it from the base. He pulled the grill towards him and the whole base slid out
My cat goes to the back, closes his eyes, decreases the friction of his fur and somehow increases local gravity. I pour him out.
@@Asongbook that’s the most descriptive way of putting it and is 100% true wow 🤣
Gosh, that doesn’t sound intuitive at all. They could have solved that with a simple sign on the crate somewhere saying pull towards you. Thanks for the explanation!
I love that torties have a completely different colored undercoat! Hazel’s grey speckles are so cute! My tortie is a beautiful cream underneath :))
I hope you enjoyed… the howling Hazel.
My cat was searching for the poor distressed Hazel the entire video 😂🥺 The bath sequence meows in particular seemed to alarm her
My Sheltie came all the way upstairs looking for Hazel.
"I'm dying! I'm drowning! I'm being murdered! Help! Save me!" -Hazel the Dramatic probably
My dog was also confused
My cats did too.
She’s part husky! Definitely singing the song of her people. She and Mayonnaise need to sing some duets.
Omg Mayonnaise 😂😂
Easy on the Mayo! 😄
I like how even after the fur is shaved off, the body still looks round.
Well, she did say Hazel was a chubby cat.
Lol round is the best shape❤.... for a cat😊
*THE BODY IS ROUND*
Yeah it's impressive because most cats, even the chubby ones, look small without the puff
There was a study on Pallas cat, I believe it was an Asian group. The one fact they could all agree on after hours of measuring, poking and prodding….this cat is round.
I am obsessed with torties, and this floofy girl is sooooo adorable! She was remarkably well-behaved for all you had to do to her. What a sweet fluffy "baby" tortie bear.
Not much of a tortie here?
Hazel is beautiful. I love Hazel for condescendingly putting up with people so well as she does ☺️
To me, her adorable meows where more like questions. Like meow ? Poor baby was confused but so well behaved❤
What a sweet girl though. She was loud but never got aggressive despite her displeasure
Omg, that poor girl sounded so scared, but she acted so good! I was worried her kitty timer would run out, but she stayed pretty calm, all things considered! Well done Hazel and Vanessa!
That face and those little meows! What an adorable floof!
Oh poor Hazel!! Poor you 😅 ... I love your episodes, you know, you just somehow inject such reality into the situation, but you are so kind to the animals as well as yourself. ❤
She has the sweetest meow ever.
Hazel was clearly a Huskie in another life. One of most vocal cats I've heard.
oh if only you heard my cat lol I swear she thinks we can understand her
especially where there's t r e a t s lol
3:35 Hazel's like "I'm not chubby, I'm just VERY fluffy."
Gabriel Iglesias 😂
Her lil confused meows is killing me :( What a sweet girl! All those meows, my dogs are worried now xD
Thank you for all you did for Hazel, Vanessa.
Between the crate break out, the steamy helmet and the unhappy hoodie...I never laughed so hard! Thx ❤😂
She has such sad eyes. 🥺
My gosh, she's so precious! ❤
Hazel is a magnificent floof!
I love at the end when you are cleaning her up and her meows are like "what else can you do to me at this point?"
Doesn’t surprise me how vocal Hazel was, since she’s a tortie. My tortie is VERY vocal as well, and they WILL let you know loud and clear when they are unhappy.
Yup, mine is loud as heck too. Demands we go to bed for snuggles at 10pm.
tortitude at it's finest
If my Luna isnt shouting then there's something wrong.
Yep we have two torties and can be very vocal at any given time lol
My calico girlie is the same way. If she's angry or uncomfortable or not getting her way, she makes sure the whole building knows.
It is so reassuring to see a professional experience "carrier frustration ", lol. I thought it was just me, haha. Love your channel ❤
The misery in that little face and her despairing little meows...😂😂😂 I feel bad that she had such a terrible time, but that was adorable.
I really enjoyed hearing more from the camera man today! 😊 Hazel rocks the lion cut! 🦁
Danke!
What a sweetheart. Thank you for taking care of her.
