It was terrifying and amazing to see at the same time.
Long haired GSDs are not uncommon, though they tend not to do well on the show bench, in fact she reminded me strongly of my own Jasper. It's a recessive gene and occurs occasionally within a litter. My lad was one of eight, six of which were short coated, one was semi-long. And then there was Jaz!

I still miss him even though it's been nearly 30 years since he passed. On a different note, I got the EquiGroomer on your recommendation and I've finally found something that both my cats like/will tolerate. Thanks!
She looks like Sonntag (German for Sunday) the first long haired German Shepherd we had when I was little. We had a pretty big yard and I loved running around and playing with him and our other German Shepherds. While they were all pretty big, they were gentle giants and were always careful to not knock me over or anything. We bathed our dogs outdoors so I got the added benefit of playing with water helping to give them baths. That was quite a while ago and they've all crossed the rainbow bridge at one point or another. I hope they've all reunited and I can meet them all again one day. Meanwhile, I've got my corgi - mix Bailey and my Maine Coon Shadow to keep me company.
When I was a kid, my grandpa had a german shepherd mix who never barked, but was very vocal with that whine, like ALL the time. He was quite the character.
We had a German shepherd when I was young. We got her when I was around 7 years old in the late 80s, up until I was 20 years old in 2000 when she passed away from heart failure. Magnificent, loyal, powerful, protective, loveable animal. Still miss her after all these years.
Roughly translated from the Canid: "MOOOOOOOM!!!" And yeah, Sheppies are definitely floof-monsters, but that stereotypical German Shepherd head tilt is adorable.
I’m new at being a shepherd owner, a little more than a year now. He’s very needy and sheds sooo much but he’s very much worth it! I can’t believe how much personality a dog can have, this one way more than any previous dog I’ve had, all small terrier types
They’re my absolute favorite breed. They’re definitely Velcro dogs, but their loyalty is unmatched. For that, I can deal with the doggie tumbleweeds, and the fact that I’ll never pee alone.
GSD is a working breed (or used to be, anyway) - they want to feel useful and active, and they want lots of exercise. Give them that and they'll be the best dog ever.
I always have a soft spot for German shepherds. Having one has kind of made me want to have a smart dog. They just have so much personality and my boy was such a big baby. Just got a new dog a few days ago. He’s an Aussie, I feel like my German shepherd prepared me for anything. My Aussie reminds me so much of my boy. These herding dogs are so smart they pick up on anything so you have to be careful what you let them see or get away with.
@@MrAdrian0508 a friend got to train an Australian Shepherd that was the mascot dog for our local minor league baseball team. He would do tricks on the field between innings to entertain the crowds. He was very smart, like he could understand what everyone was saying. You could ask him to go get almost anything and he’d try to go find it and bring it to you
I must say I was never fond of GSD's and would never personally get one myself. But I groom two boys, a long haired one and a short haired one and I must say they are both my favorite customers. But the difference in the long haired ones, like Tikka, is just a majestic transformation 😍😍😍
I've been told by multiple people that GSDs are the second biggest victim of crappy puppy-mill breeding behind the lab. The old (expensive) service dog lines are intact, but the pet lines are totally thrashed and non-selective, which has washed out most of the classically desirable temperament - the sole (unintentional) benefit was breeding out the hideously-artificial back conformation of the purebred show dogs.
Just when being washed. Otherwise, they're pretty much silent, if raised right and having lots of exercise. If they're bored, it can be a different story. Those guys want to WORK. Not like a 5 minute walk around the block. But they love you for every minute spent making them run and fetch stuff
@@rebel4466 Yup. This breed is not allowed in most high rises (both apartments and condos) in my city because of what you said as well as their temperament. Some shelters strongly recommend that they live in a house with a large yard and active lifestyles. One of the reasons why I will never own one, despite them making great pets.
We adopted our Jager last year. He was an allergic mess with skin and stomach issues. Poor guy was nearly bald! A year later and he’s at a healthy weight with so. much. fur. And yes, he sings so much when getting his nails trimmed that the vet asked if we were sure he wasn’t secretly a husky. He’s got our hearts for sure.
Not gonna lie, I love the videos but I love the comments section too! So many wonderful people sharing beautiful stories about their furry besties. Thanks Vanessa and Girl With the Dogs Fam!
These animals are nothing short of amazing, we are about to add our second one both solid black. And yes little miss is very expressive. Thanks for posting this, it was very much enjoyed by us.
As you said in a previous vid, (i believe it's a GSD vid), "German Shepherds shed twice a year, The first 6 months and the second 6 months" grew up with them and there is no time that there isn't hair all over the place, even with daily vacuuming
Labradors and Rottweilers are the same. Your floor, clothes, furniture are never not covered in dog hair. Their hair is not that long, but it is wire-y and coarse and gets stuck in the fibers of EVERYTHING. And our lab was brown. So dark hair from both literally everywhere at all times. When I went away to college, it was the first time in well over a decade that I was not picking dog hair off myself and my bed, daily. But I miss them both every day, and I would gladly take the hair times 10 if it meant I could have them back.
@@parryyotter, Agreed, my last one was a medium length hair (GSD's could come on long medium and short hair varieties, had all three throughout my life), She was a hair factory for sure

You have some gorgeous clients. It felt a little like Tika was just trying to have a chat with her hairdresser, much like a lot of humans do. She seemed to be *very* willing from what we see here, just a bit chatty, and fully engaged through the whole process. Very nice girl, and her owners should be proud.
She was telling you she was going to report you to the Better Barkness Bureau. For a second during the blow drying I really thought you were going to be wearing German Shepherd. She's beautiful and she either tired herself out or just decided she liked the detailing cause she looked very regal there towards the end. Such a good girl.
I love German Shepards/Alsatian, when I first entered the Military I was a Dog handler in the Air Force. I worked many different breeds and loved then all, while I was stationed in England I was partnered with a German Shepard named Terran he was an absolutely beautiful example of the breed my time with him was way to short.
I didn't know German Shepards came in a Floof variation. And SO MUCH FLOOF!! The tongue-out head tilts may be the goofiest, cutest thing I've seen in some time.
I love the appreciation for the specific breeds but also the care to detail on what it takes to own them. I love German Shepherds, and have been blessed with a few in my life, but too many people get specific breeds without knowing what it takes to give them the best life. They. Are. Smart. Scarily smart. They will entertain themselves if you don’t, which can often be destructive, or worse, become neurotic and anxious without the proper stimulation. Honestly, as physically active as they are, I think mental stimulation with them might be more important. They are task driven and incredible, but not for everyone. I love this breed, I just hope people who get them from breeders give them a fulfilling life in turn. ❤
Hearing this beautiful girl sing made me miss my own german shepherd boy, and he's only 2 feet away at the bottom of my bed! They are such an amazing, unique breed. I've never met a dog so loving, so intelligent, and so eager to just exist around their humans. But you're right, those same qualities make them a nightmare if they're separated!
This doggo is already low in the hips in the back hope she lives a long healthy life. My GSD is 8 years old 107 lbs and stands very tall, very grateful for his health he’s the best dog in the world!
I have two long haired straight backed GSD’s, a boy and an older girl. The boy is 7 1/2 yrs, 95lbs and a back so straight and level you can put a spirit level on him and get the bubble spot on. He is an absolute gem, they both are. I’m so privileged to call them mine.
Groomer here! 🙋♀️ And yes, I dread grooming German Shepherds. Least favorite breed. One split my lip open today. 😅😅😅😅 They are beautiful! But I prefer to enjoy them from a far distance. Lol
I was just about to comment something similar. They are gorgeous and you get some lush ones in. But they can be very unpredictable, I had one that was talking a lot (just like the one in the video) and then out the blue started barking and lashing out at me. Thankfully I moved just in time 😂😅 and another groomer in the same salon got bit in the leg. So you have to be careful. Especially with bigger dogs. X
I’ve watch MANY of your videos, but today I feel compelled to compliment your cameraman. He does a great job of getting close ups of the legs, feet grooming and nail trims. I can also hear him in the background encouraging the dogs with comments and encouragement. You are a good team, tika is handsome and especially so, after his groom.
OMG!! She Looks like my Browni! Or as my daughter used to call her "Brown-brown." But she passed away several years ago after giving us years of her fibers of love. I miss her SO MUCH. She looked very, very similar to the German Shedder being groomed. And the TALKING! Oh, how much I miss it. She would talk... and talk... and talk when I arrived home from work in the evenings. We spent so much time together and she liked to "PUSH" my wife off the bed at night to be next to me that my loving, patient wife would call her my "furry wife." She was the sweetest dog, but you didn't dare try to harm myself or my family, OR she became the demon you feared in your dreams. We loved her so much because she was just so loving, loyal and entertaining. And smart... she never wandered too far from home, she could be trusted off a leash around ALL dogs and cats, and she could open/close & lock doors. crying happy tears of beautiful memories. If you ever owned A Germy, you know what I mean by loyalty and tons of love.
She's a beauty! I wouldn't give up my German Shepherd for anything. They're the only breed I've had since I was 3 yrs old and in 57 now. We groom our GS's ourselves. They go right into the shower, no problem, and don't whine, just talk 🤣🤣🤣 My daughter is getting a Pembrook Welch Corgi pup next week. They're going to have so much fun. My baby likes to play with smaller dogs.
I grew up with a GSD. My parents had him before they got pregnant with my sister and I. He was the perfect family dog. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for these dogs.
I instantly liked the moment I saw a long-haired Shedder 😂 I grew up with one from when I was between 5 and 17 years old, and he was the largest, kindest, most intelligent dog i ever had. As a child I could hug him and touch his teeth and tongue and he just knew to be patient with me, even if it probably wasn't his favourite moments, lol. I thankfully know better than to hug the dogs in my life today (for their comfort's sake), but he was so special to me
Wow. I had a collie/german Shepard mix growing up. Sweetest dog on the planet. Tikka brought back the heartache of losing my Heidi like a truckload of bricks. Such a pretty pretty girl. Thank you for sharing her!
My German Shepherd has always been a favorite client of his groomer because he absolutely loves baths and cant wait to jump in the van. Never a bit of trouble. In fact last Christmas my groomer brought her son and they played together in the living room for two hours. I consider myself very lucky to have such a friendly GSD.
Out of a series of dogs I owned, the German Shepherd was my favorite. It was a natural great watch dog and very loyal. I always felt safe with him when I had to be home alone. I'm hard of hearing and the dog -- Bosco -- would alert me to unusual noises outside. You cannot go wrong with this incredible breed.
As a former owner (my last one passed away in 2020), I can confirm they shed like crazy, and that they have a close bond with you. I miss my mate. :( However, a feral cat we've been feeding and looking after since he was a tiny kitten has now basically adopted us, so when he deigns to turn up, he cheers us up to no end, haha.
We currently have a 5 months old German shepherd and she was running through the house trying to find the dog during that first part haha. This is our second shepherd and we just absolutely adore them!

I still miss him even though it's been nearly 30 years since he passed. On a different note, I got the EquiGroomer on your recommendation and I've finally found something that both my cats like/will tolerate. Thanks!
I've got a perfectly healthy 3y/o GSD and am certain that when she's gone I'll never recover. She's just the best girl.
Cato is the best
German shedder genuinely made me chuckle. I've never seen such a fluffy GS before, how adorable 💕
You’ve never met my oldest floof who sheds like it’s going out of style
What a lovely dog. She did rather well for her grooming visit. She gave such a wonderful tip at the end with her head tilts.
RIP to your beautiful loving baby girl❤️
Roughly translated from the Canid: "MOOOOOOOM!!!"
And yeah, Sheppies are definitely floof-monsters, but that stereotypical German Shepherd head tilt is adorable.
she is stunning
She’s beautiful!
It’s so FLUFFY! ❤️
That was an incredible before and after! During her blow drying, lady fluffington was singing the GSD anthem. Love this cute pup!!
Haha! "Lady Fluffington" 🤣
I’m new at being a shepherd owner, a little more than a year now. He’s very needy and sheds sooo much but he’s very much worth it! I can’t believe how much personality a dog can have, this one way more than any previous dog I’ve had, all small terrier types
Almost human like!!
You could ask him to go get almost anything and he’d try to go find it and bring it to you
Your grooming really brought out the beauty in her magnificent coat! 😊⭐👏
I love the head tilts. Just so adorable!
SHE’S SO FLUFFY! I think you could make a pillow from all the fluff that you got while grooming her lol 🐶🐕❤️
The head tilts always making me fall in love with these shedders.! 🥰🥰
She looks so cute, majestic, and all around gorgeous! Her head tilts are 😍
Beautiful dog.
Tikka is soo beautiful I wish i had a dog like her!!! She is the prettiest dog i have ever seen!
Edit: She is very loud and vocal LOL!
Love the head tilt Tika awesome!
I absolutely love the longer coats on German Shepherds! They are one of my favorite breeds and once I have a home and job that can accommodate one, I would love to have one of my own ❤️
2:18 I love when shepherds do that side to side head tilt! You know that’s when they are really engaged and studying you. They are so smart.
GSDs are such beautiful dogs.
She was telling you she was going to report you to the Better Barkness Bureau. For a second during the blow drying I really thought you were going to be wearing German Shepherd. She's beautiful and she either tired herself out or just decided she liked the detailing cause she looked very regal there towards the end. Such a good girl.
Omg. The Hoodie and the floof. Tiny little pupper noggin. I'm in love!
She is ready for the show ring! What a beauty. Another excellent job.
Sweetest kiss when you were clipping her nails. She looked embarrassed 😊
German Shepherds have always been my favorite breed too.
That's a gorgeus girl. I relate to the fur thing. It's everywhere. All the time.
I’m getting a good chuckle listening to that vocalization. What a pretty girl!! ❤️
I think you should get into beekeeping, too. You already have the outfit. Another beautiful beautiful pooch!
She’s just gorgeous when you finished with her, but she almost got upstaged by JoJo and his ducky! :-) Love your channel. Makes me grin!
Oh my!! I’ve never seen a German Shepherd with such long hair before!! Very pretty!!
Groomer here! 🙋♀️ And yes, I dread grooming German Shepherds. Least favorite breed. One split my lip open today. 😅😅😅😅
They are beautiful!
I think you're doing such a wonderful job that I can easily picture this absolutely beautiful dog in a centuries-old majestic painting in a museum...
She gave us to a head tilt! Waited for the camera too. Classic German Shepherd treat…
Very beautiful dog
I’ve watch MANY of your videos, but today I feel compelled to compliment your cameraman. He does a great job of getting close ups of the legs, feet grooming and nail trims. I can also hear him in the background encouraging the dogs with comments and encouragement. You are a good team, tika is handsome and especially so, after his groom.
Those are the kindest eyes I've ever seen german shepherd's are so adorable🥺🥺🥺
The German Shedder 😅
LOL, they are vocally exploding when you play opera. 😂
What a beautiful and sweet doggie. She's a great singer too. 😁👍
She's a beauty! I wouldn't give up my German Shepherd for anything. They're the only breed I've had since I was 3 yrs old and in 57 now. We groom our GS's ourselves. They go right into the shower, no problem, and don't whine, just talk 🤣🤣🤣
My daughter is getting a Pembrook Welch Corgi pup next week.
2:18 LOL she is like "do you think I'm pretty?"
I love how you’re just in your element when it’s a GSD. She’s so cute.
She's a beauty! ❤🐾
"German Shedder" perfectly accurate. I had one once and when Ginger passed I was very sad.
She is such a beautiful GS. Loved how Tika was kind enough to share her song with us. ❤️🐾❤️
I love how they literally change color in the before and after; she's one of the most gorgeous shepherds I have ever seen, and her head tilts OMG 😭
We currently have a 5 months old German shepherd and she was running through the house trying to find the dog during that first part haha. This is our second shepherd and we just absolutely adore them!
She’s beautiful❤
All of my dogs have been mutts, most of them with a high percentage of German Shepherd. They are the very best, like no one ever was.
