@@jakejones2329 Thanks for the kind words, I agree the Warwick tone is so identifiable. I have two Thumb basses currently. I’d like a Streamer next and a real “German made” one. Everything is so expensive now gotta keep my eye on the used market and even then it’s getting tougher to get a “real” wick.
@@Halfpastseven absolutely understandable. Ive been lucky enough to play a few in stores, but they definitely felt stock so i know I'll need a higher end used one myself when that time comes. Keep slappin, brother!
I've always loved the sound of a thumb bass. It's been my dream bass for almost a decade now. If all goes well, I could find one of these in my possession by this summer. Just gotta finish up school & make sure I keep saving over the next few months.
Thanks John! Always trying to improve and there is so much to learn! When I wanna play the bass by itself I always tend to lean towards the Thumb Bass, although i do have a few other makes i like to play depending on the tone I'm going for. The Thumb just has that snappy sound to it and Growl like no other haha!
Thank you for watching! I'm happy that it has as many views as it does now!! More would be awesome though, who knows if you all share it it could go viral! 😀
Nick Lombardi I've shared it on Facebook :P You're very talented. :D I listen this song everyday xD I'm bassist too, and I hope one day I'll be able to do this ! :D Stay awesome. \m/
Thank you!! I do not it would probably take me a while to write it all down maybe I can do a video to show and explain what I am playing because you are not the first to ask
Whoah! Loved it! You deserve waaay more views. I am trying to get a new bass to improve mine into a high end one to play this slap style, what made you choose the thumb aginste the corvette?
Thank you!! I actually used to own a corvette and it sounded it awesome, just a bigger fan of the Thumb basses unique tone and unique look to go along with it. I just ordered a Stingray 5 HH should be here tomorrow and then I will be posting a video of that!
So I've always wanted a Thumb, and now I finally have one. Let me ask, did you use any particular effects or anything? I'm just curious, since you've got a really huge growl.
Nick Lombardi That's what I thought! It's just a little bit of vibration but it's noticeable. Very nice though. Happy to be playin on the same instrment as you bruh >:D You make Thumb users look good.
Great playing bud sounds amazing. Your vid is making me thinking about getting a thumb again, used to have a 4 string thru neck. Playing a MTD 6er at the mo. But There is something about the way thumb basses sound that is quite unique. How low do you have the action on your bass bud. And once again great groove and playing. All the best
I tuned my bass down to c in this video so the action naturally became lower, I would say its pretty low and wouldn't want to be any lower because, the strinngs would start to buzz. But, yeah it is deffinetly a "Niche" kind of bass, only has like 2 different sounds to choose from imo on this model
Hey Nick, Great playing. Just curious, the last section where you go into the low register on the B string you're sitting down. I'm guessing it's because although Thumb basses are amazing the ergonomics on them are a little awkward because of the relatively small body and long neck. I've owned several 4 & 5 string Thumbs over the years and still do, going to the lowest register for extended periods of time is always taxing on my shoulder and wrist while standing with the bass strapped on. I'd like to get your thoughts regarding this. Thanks.
+Joel Nelson Yes, this bass is hard to play towards the headstock prolly because the small body makes the strap from the horn farther away from the headstock than most basses from what I have noticed. Which makes sense For playing higher up on the neck easier. Every instrument has a strength an weakness though which gives more of an excuse to buy more basses
I would say it all really comes down to.. fresh strings, a good compressor, and playing technique. In all of my videos I use the Avalon 737 pre with Pro Tools HD2 where I can use broadband eq's and compressors. For this particular song I used a very subtle Chorus, set at a slow rate with a low mix so you can barely hear it and just adds a nice smoothness to the notes and the percussive strikes!
Thank you! I am self taught! I think if you love what you do and have the passion you can can figure out your own path to making the music you want to make!
Wow, how long have you been playing? I just started playing bass maybe a year ago, and I've got a bunch of Mudvayne songs in my head, but I'm not really progressing in writing or improvisation. Anyway, keep it up man, you're amazing.
I've been playing for 10 years, Ryan Martinie is what drove to play bass, I used to play drums. Thats awesome man! Keep it up with time, patience and passion you could do amazing things! There is never a time when you stop learning, there is always room to grow and improve
Thanks for the words of wisdom! :D My main problem is that I've got a $100 bass that sounds really bad, so even if something I play sounds great, it will sound horrible on my bass, I'm trying to save up for a Epiphone Toby Deluxe V, but that's all I can afford. :/ I'm assuming Half Past Seven is your band? If so, I wish you luck with that, you definitely have what it takes to write some badass riffs. Maybe get more active on this channel, covers, random riffs, or tid bits from songs to draw some attention here
I know how you feel haha! That's okay though you can honestly get a cheap Ibanez for $200 and they sound great. I'm not familiar with the epiphones but, if that's what you are aiming for and that's the bass you dream of then definitely get it! It took me years to get my equipment and I still would like to try and see what's out there, it never stops lol! Yes Half Past Seven is my band and we will be posting more band related stuff from this point on and we will have the other members of the band on here to, to try and expand. We are still writing songs for our album but once it's done we are going full force with all of our songs and doing misic videos so deff stay tuned!
Why this channel doesn't have more subscribers/views is beyond me. All the writing and production is stellar
Jack's Vocals Thank you for the awesome kind words! We get new subscribers and exposure every day! Little by little we are reaching the world 🌎
*_This gave me the urge_*

Nice! Great game
From a fellow Warwick addict to another, nicely done.
Thoroughly enjoyed that! 👏 Particular liked the finger style run....👌😎
David Sheppard Thank you David!
🤯🤯🤯 all this time later, still juicy jams!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ill gladly take any more Warwick content. My mechanical heart beats for that sound.
A lot of great bass players use their powers for different genres, but your niche and style is how its supposed to sound.

Not at the moment I can make them though

Kevin Hury I don’t unfortunately, thank you for the comment! I have no idea how to write tabs. I should do some lessons on these bass clips though
Very tasty bassline! I'll link ur channel to my bassist, i think he will really appreciate ur music!

This is great, but there are two dislikes. I really think some people dislike videos just to be contrarian. What is not to like about this?
Great Tunes! Especially that one!! Do you have tabs or sheets somewhere?
Thank you!! I do not it would probably take me a while to write it all down maybe I can do a video to show and explain what I am playing because you are not the first to ask
Neatest groove ever
Wow thanks man! I appreciate it!
Thanks!
Thank you soo much!! Good to hear feedback!! Nice to meet you too!
Great line and technique Nick! Do you use your Thumb Bass exclusively? Cheers
This is sick as bruh. Tabs would be killer.
Great sound! What type of pedal are you using?
@@OneWuda Thanks! I was just using a slow chorus and compression!

Hi,
Do you have any neck dive in this position ? I found out some Thumbs got neck dive and some not
For me I don’t. I wear the bass up high so that may help. The length of the neck can make getting the first few frets a challenge though.
How do you get that awesome tone? Tell us about your gear / setup!

Older video but, what strings do you like on a thumb?
I like DaDarrio’s Steels
Thanks. Killer job by the way.
No problem! Thanks man I appreciate it!
Does your thumb neckdive? If so, how do you deal with it? Thanks.
tonev It does a little bit. I wear the strap up to where the horn on the bass is right at the bottom of my chest. I use a thick strap too
Also are you using any effects or is that just clean bass
Did u use a chorus effect for this?
Yes set at a very slow rate and mixed very low.
Did you go to music school or are you self taught? God DAMN you're good
