Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- What's summer life on a canal narrowboat really like? We leave Banbury and head for Aynho Wharf to fill up with water. We stop at Twyford Wharf and visit King's Sutton to see the impressive spire at the church of St Peter and St Pauls.
Colin uncovers dark secrets of the working narrowboat families who lived on the canals. We cross the River Cherwell and join the debate on its pronunciation before finding the perfect spot to spend a few days in the sun.

"I'd need another three pairs of hands!" I'll stopp giggling by midnight. Maybe. :-D
😂
Love you two really enjoyed keep the good work up make me smile 😁 injoy the sunshine 🌞
I so enjoy the history and old photos but the funnies keep it light, never boring. Stop banging that leg.
I keep trying 😂
Colin doesn’t ramble, he’s elaborating 🤔 and we love it
Aww, thank you, Kathryn! Have a lovely weekend 💜
You guys are two bright sparks that brighten up our days in these troubled times. Your banter is hilarious and the scenery and commentary on your journeys is impressive. We feel we are on board too. Thanks from Aus.
Thanks so much! That's exactly how I want you to feel 👍🏻
The BBC should put you on every Friday, best thing on the TV, the next episode should be, How we dry our clothes.
We did that in 'A Day In The Life..." 😉
@@FoxesAfloat OK, how about , how we cope with each others annoying habits in heavy rain and lock down?
Last request, any ghost or strange other worldly experience when moored up for the night?
I don't think they would put Colin running down the towpath in his underpants on the BBC!
Well done boys! As usual top-notch photography.Nice to see Kings Sutton where my family originated before moving to London after the great fire.1666 became footmen in Royal household - look it up😏 keep up the good work😜
Nice one!
You guys give me such a lift. My wife had a major stroke last week and life is not grand at the moment. Thank you for you wit and somewhat educational Blog; I love it, thank you.
Hi, Colin. I'm so sorry, that must be devastating. Sending you both loads of love and strength to get through this 💜
In this time of uncertainty for me (and everyone) you guys are my one constant that I can rely on to make me smile and laugh of a Friday night...thank you so much as always. And the thought of two handsome gents getting an allover tan on top of a narrowboat - well I had to go and make a cup of tea 😂
Haha! Shaun doesn't go 'all-over' 😳
I do, I'm not bothered 😂😂😂
@@FoxesAfloat hahahaha....quite right...we've all got the same bits 😂 caution though - a friend of mine got sunburn in a rather delicate area once 😂😂
I don’t know what I’m going to do if you stop making videos I’ve literally been binge watching all week 🤗🐶
Haha! No plans to stop 😂👍🏻💜
Mee too!
Greetings from France.
Oh deer deer you 2 are qwackers 😂
Another great vlog. Thanks. Stay safe and stay off that leg😉
Thanks 👍 (I'm trying) 😂
Get yer Wellies on & ford the river! I calculated 4 laughs per minute in this vlog. Brightens my morning! Would you mind terribly doing a vlog every day? Ha!
It takes a week to make one, so... 😳
😂😂😂
Need I say it... a visit with my friends on the Silver Fox is a great way to end my week. Have an amazing weekend guys! Keep being awesome!
Thanks, you too!
I so look forward to Friday's banter, geography and history lessons, and today's "lock physics" lesson.
Hope you enjoyed! 😂
Hi Guy's. Wonderful vlog, great music and thumbs up for the graphics.🐶
Thanks so much
Wondering if the ‘boat people’ from the old days were Gypsy Tinkers? Own language, different clothes, large-ish families and hostility from the townspeople. Just a thought. Enjoyed the giggles and censored bits almost as much as the beautiful scenery today! 💜💜
Very similar, yes.
Friday night is just like Crackerjack..
Mad a a box of frogs and so funny to watch you both.
Innuendo ..
Toad in the hole after cruising
Brilliant.
Informative as well. As ever.
Great vlog
Look forward to next Friday's upload.
Thanks, Richard! 👍🏻
Oh, and Shaun make sure Colin stays off that leg! Keep laughing😘
He won't! 🤛
Hi Colin, you are a tough guy walking with that on your leg.
Long John Silver needed crutches.
You guys always brighten up my day with your very interesting vlogs.
The video quality to me is outstanding.
Thanks 👍
No wonder they had so many "wars", "wors", "waahs", or "wers" (depending on where you are from) :) Always love the photographs you dig up on the lock cottages and the historical canal life - it's very cool to see the history and how it compares to modern times. Safe travels!
Thanks, Bill. Really glad you’re enjoying it 👍🏻
It's so nice to see the bridges, locks and country side. All mixed with history and comedy. You both really bring me up when I'm not well and I thank you. Have a beautiful weekend 🙏💜✌
Our pleasure! Stay safe, see you next week 👍🏻
I'm in awe of your video editing skills, the amount of camera locations you set up for just one Vlog is amazing, and then to piece them all back so they make complete sense (well most of the time anyway 🤣) it ends up looking very professional well done, I love it. it must take you ages to one Vlog.
Thank you so much!!
For me it’s the music used brilliant it just seems so right!
I was waiting since the very first VLOG for this moment: the Foxes are on the same stretch as I was with my wife and son in October 2018. My first (but it won't stay the only, for sure!) narrowboat cruise from the hire-boat wharf to Thrupp and back again. Two rivers and two canals (Thames, Oxford Canal, Cherwell, Duke's Cut) in a perfectly splendid week full of surprises... Just marvellous! (and the main reason why I like narrowboats and watch this channel). Thanks lads!
Ah, wonderful! You'll also enjoy the next few, hopefully! 💜😛👍🏻
Ha - you’re lucky you’re just starting with the gray hairs. I’m so old my gray hairs have just about all fallen out!!! You have a long way to go!
Haha! I'll be a proper Silver Fox 😂
Cheers for cheering me up guys, had a bad day and feel a lot better now. Keep them coming
Thanks, Michael. I hope you're feeling better 💜
Shaun, he’s not got any better has he? If anyone should have grey hairs, it’s you! What’s he like? Anyway, keep good keep safe the pair of you!
Hahaa! Cheeky 😏
Hi Colin and Shaun, gosh, what a crazy video,it was very enjoyable to watch your awesome antics aboard silver 🦊,the both of you are once
Again cruising along the canal, uninterrupted on your brilliant informative adventures, your banter is so hilarious,
I nearly split my sides with laughter,at your extermely enjoyable jokes, looking forward to next Fridays episode,
Stay safe, your a lovely couple, carry on being a bundle of laughs,
Thanks 👍 Really glad you're enjoying them, Anthony 👍🏻
25 minutes of smiling, you 2 are a hoot
Any vlogs of you in deep mid winter , I’m trying to watch in order but it’s a bit iffy
Keep it going guys
Try this playlist. All the vlogs in order 👍🏻 ua-cam.com/play/PLcS0xjJs-N1B0wlKhMBs6RdWnJNoKLO4B.html
Colin, don't listen to Shaun you don't babble. I really enjoy your explanations and all the research you do that tells about the places you travel through. Great vlog best wishes to you both :)
Thank you, I will. xxxxxxx
"first of all, it's MY program." 👏👏👏😂😂❤️❤️
😂
Too funny!
Every bit as glorious as the weather!
Mind you, when you said that all the prettiness hides some dark secrets I thought you were talking about Shaun.
Haha! Thanks, John 👍🏻
Awe Colin, we love your babblin', of course at this rate your middle name would be "Brook". lol Take care guys and God Bless, Paul from Florida.
Hehe. Cheers, Paul 👍🏻💜
Perfectly timed quacking - great editing. (As a kid I thought that the overflow hole in a bathroom sink was called a twyford. )
Haha! Really? Never heard that before 😂
@@FoxesAfloat I think Twyford was a company that made sinks - they put their name by the hole)
I so love the banter between you both, you make me smile every time I watch you. What a wonderful way of life you lead❤️
Aww, thank you!
Brilliant vlog again, love the background music as well! Keep 'em coming!
Thanks, will do!
Just had a look at your website gallery, beautiful photographs - would make a great calendar, hope one is in the offing for 2022?
We will be 👍🏻
Loving the new Graphics for the Names of places and Bridge Numbers.. Absolutely love watching your weekly videos.. Keep up the Great work.. 🤗🤗xx
Glad you like them! Took ages to create 😂 xx
Very much enjoying watching lots of your video's. Not in any particular order (That'd be too easy :) )
Really enjoy how you explain a lot, especially about the locks you pass through & the local history of the area you're both passing through
Must take a fair bit of research on your part but it really does 'make' the video's
Awesome, thank you!
Good to see both of you are in good health and humor. Colins commentary is so educational and Shaun’s laughter is fantastic. Keep safe and thanks for the sanity break for those of us trapped in the US.
Thanks, Scott! 💜 Hopefully, you won't be trapped much longer! x
you guys are amazing!!!! you should have your own tv programme
Ah, we've had offers, Sean, but prefer to do our own thing here 💜😛
Watching your latest vlog is getting to be part of my Friday afternoons. Fascinating grim story about the boatmen of old, and teriffic use of the drone. Always wonderful to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it, Peter. Have a lovely weekend 👍🏻
Outtakes 😂 love em.
😂
Found this vlog so relaxing to watch, feels as if I have been on a mini break. Great work Colin. X
Awesome! Thank you!
I’m with Shaun definitely something in the hole but not a toad lol - so much censoring this week lol
Yeah, surprised we didn't get told off by the UA-cam Police 😂
Better and better, I really look forward to Fridays and your wonderful vlogs. Thanks as always chaps. Anyhow....Traaaaaaaains.
Haha! More next week 😉
These guys are funny.
👍🏻
Shaun's recreations are just brilliant. Could you explain the 3 words thing, are they words we're supposed to find in each video? Keep up the vlogs guys x
Yeah, what3words is an app that divides the world into 5m boxes so you enter the three words and it takes you to the exact place 👍🏻
Colin, babble away. A little education never hurt anyone.
😂😂😂
Sunny weather, sunny smiles, cheered my day up.
Brilliant! Enjoy ☀️ 😃
Lol.. Hilarious guys... Still trying to figure out who yer new friend is (🎣) three pairs of hands... Aw disappointed with the loooong censorship, but can only imagine why 😂🤣 fantastic 😂
Haha! UA-cam's Community Guidelines Team are pretty insistent 😉
I never tire of your wonderful sense of humor and . . . Oh My, Shaun's crooning, well one has to ask, why wasn't he the warm up band for Sinatra! The still of the bridge @ 1:13 was quite beautiful. One really has to wonder how the Boat People were able to raise entire families in such a confined space, talk about a complete lack of any privacy. It is to their credit that they worked tirelessly to move Goods around the country in support of their fellow man. Like those who work in coal mines for a living, they remain unsung heros of a forgotten time. I also never tire of seeing these beautiful and historic Lock Cottages. My wife and I stayed at a Lock Cottage just outside Shrewsbury before boarding our Hire Boat the next day for our Llangollen Canal trip. I appreciated the explanation of the Lozenge-shaped Lock, another Canal mystery solved ;). The aerial still @ 18:40 is nothing short of stunning! This really looks like a Post Card shot and the tranquil piano music absolutely made my day. Thanks Colin and Shaun for this one I very much enjoyed it.
Thanks again, Michael for such lovely, appreciated words 💜
We loved that you make us smile and laugh.
Our pleasure, Clark 👍🏻
It's lovely seeing you both on the move again the scenery was amazing, thank you ...
Our pleasure, Marian! It's good to be able to cover short distances at last! Have a lovely weekend 👍🏻
"clouted" haha! Takes me back to the village pub, brilliant.
Classic
Thanks Guys for another lovely trip on the Oxford canal, we had several canal holidays , the first one started from Aynho, happy days. x
Our pleasure!
Hi From Texas. First off Colin, you and Shaun have the best vlog out there. You set the bar very high for all the other vloggers. Y’all are funny, informative and so very real. Thank you for sharing your life with the rest of us. I admit that I binge watched the whole series. Look forward to each new installment.
Wow, thank you, Patrick!
Ooooo! The new graphics are super smart!! Is that your work, or did UA-cam have a hand in it?
Can you tell Shaun that cows only have FOUR teats, unless he saw one with TWO udders!🤣 (May have been one stood behind another of course!)
You’re spot-on (as always!) about Aynho Weir lock being that shape to bring down enough water to fill Somerton Deep lock, but I wish they’d put up a sign telling people to only work ONE boat at a time through! I’ve seen THREE squeeze in together, thinking they’re saving water, THEY’RE NOT!!! But you can’t tellem or they think you’re a clever Richard!🤪
Great vlog AGAIN, entertaining, informative and most enjoyable, I do hope the fact you’re moving away from Banbury means the legs improving Colin, (before you stamped it, you soppy sod!), and hopefully you won’t need any more treatment, or worse an hoperation!?
Thanks guys!👍
Nothing to do with UA-cam. My work :)
Foxes Afloat thought so! Such a talent, anyone would think you’re practicing your technique for later!🤔
Loved the ducks quacking in the music. Hope the boot helps your leg. Safe travels and keep well. Gloria 🐂
I hope so too! Thanks! 💜
Any man deserves something big, hot and meaty after a hard day's cruising! One of your best vids yet, absolutely stunning videography , especially the drone shots. Best wishes from up on the Lancy.
Thanks a ton! We're missing the Lancaster! 💜
You have 15 very loyal fans, I happened to be on UA-cam when the upload arrived. There was already 15 likes after 1minute ( I was 16th), this could become competitive. "The first likes league table". 😀 Go well lads
Legend! Haha! yeah, happens every week 😂
Love the vlogs, especially the historical things please keep this in you future contents. 💯%
Thank you! Will do!
Hi guys great drone shots, beautiful country, I'm in America and it looks nothing like the U.K., I love the countryside, Happy travels,,
Our pleasure! Have a lovely weekend 💜
keep on babbling. It is so cool to hear the history and explanations of why things are the way they are. none of the other canal channels on youtube are as interesting to me. I almost wish you made two a week.
Hope the leg heals quickly - follow doctor's orders eh.
Ah, but this thing on my leg is so bloody frustrating! Aaagghhh! Haha! 😂 Thanks for a lovely comment, Jake 👍🏻💜
3:24 - The number of times I've driven up the M40, looked at that lift bridge and wanted to be on a boat instead. Canal holiday next year, for definite.
Nice one!
'After a long day's...' very naughty, Colin but I did laugh!
😏
You guys crack me up. Shaun's laugh is infectious. I'd so love to hear what you guys said to each other that was censored out. It was obviously a 'You can't say that!' moment. LOL
We have to cut SOOOOO much out 😂
@@FoxesAfloat Perhaps a special video for members only. LOL
Hello again, glad to see there is still countryside around Banbury. By the way, I made Panacalty for supper last night, coming from Yorkshire you are probably familiar with it. I was born in Billingham, Middlesborough, and it was one of my dad's faves. Made enough for you two, but you must not have got my invite.Colin, stop stomping with the cast, all we need is a vid of Shaun filming you stuck thigh deep on the stern of Silver Fox😀😄. Take care, have fun, and we will see you soon. If you need a break, take one, we will understand.❤❤👍👍.
Yeah, I kinda learned the stamping was a mistake within half a second of doing it 😬
Beautiful English village. The drone view of these beautiful villages is appreciated.
Thank you!
Winter doldrums are over ,I see ,another great video guys , stay safe and healthy, 4 thumbs up
Thank you so much! Summer has arrived here. It's been the sunniest spring ever! ☀️
I really look forward to Fridays to watch these. I only realised it was every Friday when it was mentioned a few episodes back, ooops. Mind you, I did only find the channel a few months back and then I watched them all from the beginning
Great vlog again lads, superb camera work. Love the new graphics
Glad you like them! Thanks, Philip 👍🏻
Another fantastic day out with you guys roll on next Friday
Can't wait!
Wow your vlogs are amazing the music was brilliant and what a laugh we look forward to fridays it cheers us up no end in these bad times looking forward to next week so stay safe you both and dillon
Thank you so much 😊
Great scenery, a history lesson and a good chuckle ... perfect !
Many thanks, Stephen! Have a lovely weekend 👍🏻
I still have my Dr. Who Fan Club card from 1981! I've watched it for years. Tom Baker...... David Tennant....love it!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Majestic video !! You gentlemen are extremely entertaining and informative ! We just LOVE to watch your videos over and over. We would LOVE to hear the bipped conversations, perhaps you should do another video with warning and for adults only. ITT would be sooooooo funny !!
I’m glad Colin is doing well but please don’t jump on that leg.
Ciao from the Eternal City, till next time huge hugs
Hey, Sarinf! 👋
Thank you so much. Maybe we should do an uncensored version 🤔 xx
Beautiful stopping off point chaps. A very enjoyable episode. Best wishes to you both. ❤️👍👏👏👏
Thank you kindly, Terry!
Y"all are just nutters ... Love ya ... Would be curious to see a collection of uncensored bits ...
Haha! A few people have said that 😂
*sigh* It appears that summer's the most beautiful time to be on the canals. This particular stretch is just so idyllic. It truly is Paradise.
That stretch of the Oxford south of Kings Sutton was one of our favourites. Nell Bridge Lock was always a bit of a wake-up after gently meandering through the meadows. It kicked off with trying to keep your paintwork off the unexpectedly tight Nell Bridge over the tail of the lock, followed immediate with a strange slippery passage along the section shared with the Cherwell where the boat never went quite where you wanted it to, then relief when you headed into the calm water of "Aynho Weird Lock" as we affectionately called it. Lovely to watch the two of you enjoying it. Thanks for another super video.
Glad we brought back a few memories, Tim 👍🏻
I love these and follow every episode. Thank you gentlemen for documenting your travels and giving us all a taste of the good life! Things are wonderful here in Portland, Oregon as well. The birds are chirping and it's shaping up to be a lovely, warm summer. Cheers!
Enjoy the birdsong!
The tuba at the end was such a great epilogue to your music hall shenanighans.
Hehe! Thanks! 😂
Another brilliant video can't wait till next week's now xx take care both xx
Thank you! You too!
Every time I watch your vlogs my frown turns to a smile and then to a laugh.....and then when I see Dillon it’s always an “Ahhhh.” Best wishes for the leg.
Thanks! Leg is improving now 👍🏻
You guys never fail to make me smile. :-D (see) Colin, I for one enjoy your "babbling". All sort of interesting info.
I like the new graphics but would appreciate them just a smidge (to use a technical term), maybe a smidge & a half, bigger to help read them with my geriatric eyesight. ;-D
Thanks for the tips!
Excellent as always....great vlog gents...thank you
Thank you! 👍🏻
Colin's babbling + Shaun's laughing + Dillon's cuteness ='s a wonderful entertaining vlog! 😊👍 Please give Dillon a cuddle for me. Thank you...take really good care of yourselves...stay safe! 💖
Will do!!
Toad in the hole haha.
I love seeing the yesteryear pics especially when you have a comparison from today. It's content like this that makes this channel so great!
Glad you enjoyed!
I've been binge watching your videos these past couple weeks. My husband and I would love to tour England via the canals. The two of you make it seem so easy. Well, you keep making the vids, and I'll continue watching.
Thanks, Frank. Maybe one day 👍🏻
LOVE this video. A friend and I camped at the Pig Place and went up and down there on kayaks. If you are there in the morning, the Pig Place does really good fry-up. Not cheap but good. (And they have their own outdoor bar in the evening. )
I right fancy a fry-up! 😋
Collin you are so clever with music to video. Loved the insert of duck quacks.
Hehe! Thank you, Bobbie 👍🏻
I find myself now saying "Traaaiiiin". Thanks Colin I too love trains and it is a lot more fun.
Haha! You're not alone 😂
Another smashing vlog. Beautiful scenery (I miss the UK) with good music. Interesting historical information and love Shaun’s laugh. You both have a good rapport and banter with each other. Thank you for sharing. Take good care of each other.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love the history bits you add in, plus you make it fun! Thanks for the great video guys!
Our pleasure! Thanks, Jeremy 👍🏻
That could well be your funniest yet, superb
" you didnt know the answer in rehearsals" 😂😂😂
Loved it
Thank you! 😃
Love going on the canals with you but can't find it on my map of the waterways...yet. just got a map and still have to study it . Loved this video...seems like I love each one more...i spend more time with you than anyone else. Has been the case before " the isolation days.".love you two and Dillon too.
Aww, thanks, Marjorie! Not sure where you're looking on the map. On this vlog we were between Banbury and Aynho.
Thank you for not just a visual delight but the history of each area.
Thanks Kerry
For a moment watching the canal and the trees in all their beauty sweeping by I am sat on the
Silver Fox enjoying the beauty you see every day. It takes my mind off my chronic pain for a few minutes. Thanks guys.
Glad you enjoy it!
Just discovered your vlogs today and I can't stop watching already! You seem like such a nice couple, I'm very happy for you guys.
Thank you so much!! Welcome! 💜👍🏻
I don't know why, but every time I see you two comics I think of Morcambe and Wise. Keep up the great work 👍 luvin it
Wow, thank you! Haha! 😂 #BringMeSunshine
