Im a 2100 Player and i Would recommend to find your play style ( aggressive: playing for attackers and tactics ,positional: crush you’re opponent positionally: positioning pieces )and then plan you’re training according to your style this is way more efficient
as one who went from 1500 to 1700 in about a week I can confirm middlegame is really important I can really recommend GM igor smirnovs free masterclass
i started playing chess january this year and im currently rated 1580 and i cant agree more that improving my midgame was a big if not the biggest factor of becoming better
I started chess about two weeks ago. Could you recommend some resources that helped you improve your mid-game? Or that helped you in general? 0 -> 1580 in 4 months seems impressive to me as a complete beginner
@@dennisk9130 what helped me alot was playing against high rated opponents like 2000plus and talking with them through the games also always check ur analytics after ur games to see what u couldve done better or how u can defend better etc and most importantly play chess and never forget to only play for fun and not rating!
Impressive. I started in December and I am currently 1060. 1580 seems really far away! How did you get in touch with the 2000s (especially ones that were willing to talk over the games afterwards)?
Otto ur bid made me climb legit from 700 to 1900 in 8 months the only problom with me is i can only do good in 30 mins game im a slow thinker. But thatnks for another tip vid u G
I went from 1100-2000 blitz in about 3 years but I didn’t play for the second year. I just played a lot of chess and tryed switching up openings and time controls every 1000 games or so.
No secret for success will work if you don't! It's essential to dedicate at least one hour a day to studying the game. Thanks to videos like this you can get more done in that one hour! But don't just watch and pretend that you have learned something. Chess is not a spectator sport. Unless you have a fantastic memory watch this video at least twice, then set out the pieces on a board and replay the game from memory, thinking about each move. That's what Otto did and that's what I am trying to do -- my spatial IQ is my weakest. I see that it all started with that e4 and white kept on doubling down on the mistake. Black made a couple of big bold moves but mostly it was just playing good solid chess. An excellent lesson. Thank you.
Even if you have a good content, the cadence (removing any pauses in your speech) reduces the impact of your teaching. You leave no time to absorb the previous sentence or look at the position and compare it to your statement, moving right on to the next idea before the first one is registered. I am not talking about your speed of speech but the pauses. I understand you want to respect our time and make your presentation compact but i think this isn't the right approach. Instead you could think more about what you want to say and say it only once, leaving in the natural pauses that occur in speech.
@6.59th min what if black played bishop (on a5) captures knight on c3 thts a check and a discovered attack on " THE QUEEEEN"! And needless to say ,since there aint no way of blocking the check and saving the queen. Congratulations blacks gettin the dub!
hi! Great lesson. Is it my imagination or studying strategy (positional) is the same as studying the middle game? At least in the way you’re using the words. Since you could study a middle game that was filled with tactics too
Your vids are amazing!! Are you planning on living as a professional chess player or chess content creator in the future?? Or you have another passion?
Yes, but black can ignore the trapped pawn and capture white's pawn on d4, resulting in both the d3 bishop and c3 knight hanging. The knight can then be taken with tempo, threatening to capture the a1 rook in the next move
a3 and b4 you probably mean. Seems like you can just capture the knight and then take the pawn. (But then white has the bishop pair, which is said to worth half a pawn extra)
I'm genuinely curious on why people want to become really good at chess. I get people throughout time would play it and it's a hard game. But why grind at something for years without your real life being improved by it. Yes there might be that one in a thousand that became wealthy cause of the chess knowledge he learned but yet he could have still learned else where i.e a book or something plus that person probably got in that position through learning and trial and error.
I'm gonna be honest, I started playing chess 9 months ago (less than 400 elo), I'm currently rated about 1950 and opponents still blunder really simple tactics (2-3 move sequences) at around the intermediate level (1200-1800). So I attribute my knowledge to just getting better at Puzzles. Try getting above a 2500 puzzle rating and see how your elo sky rockets.
This is a brilliant video! Please consider either making this into a series or doing a speed run like Naroditsky- this way we get the repetition to retain this teaching. I would watch a learn a ton from you. I'm on the goal of achieving 2000 as well. (started 7 months ago and am at 1350)
I wonder if people with this accent get free and three confused. Cause in American English these two words sound totally different but for you guys it sounds the same.

Someone might have a lucky day and you might have reached 1700 because of your mood , but are you actually 1700 strength
what else did you study besides the masterclass?

OTTOMEISTER IS FINALLY BACK!!! I WAS WAITING FOR A VIDEO SO BADLY
More Tate videos pls
I went from a solid 1200 to 800.. by watching all these videos…so happy
u mean 1800?
So you actually decreased in ratings.
You are just bad
my rating is already 2000 but this helped me a lot! now I have an OTB rating!

This gonna be your best video amigo
What? 2 years? I could be albert ainstein studying for 2 years and yoi could just get 2000 elo for 2 hell years
Then we just need a video where you tell us how you learned middle game.
That was great but a bit of a slower presentation is more my speed
Do you have anymore videos? You’re an awesome teacher
After 8... f5 according to Stockfish 16 (which they didn't have back in 1896), best move for white is 9. Bc4 and 0-0 next move.

What sources to study middle games in

Indeed I thought i missed something
nope, white queen is defended by white bishop
This is much higher level than 2000. Don't worry, you do not have to be this good if you are trying to get to 2000
That was a really nice game and really instructive
If it were anyone else I would think it was clickbait but I saw your name and said I had to check it out

insane! thank you for this video
Bishop d4 could have saved white and then maybe a castle or something...
Your vids are amazing!! Are you planning on living as a professional chess player or chess content creator in the future?? Or you have another passion?
Cheers!,
I don't want to be a pro chess player, I'm focused with teaching it
That was a lovely game I play this opening but never seen this game.
still wonder why white wouldn't play b4 to get that bishop away
I really enjoyed this
Glad you did!
7:02 if bishop takes then we win the queen right ?
nope its defended by the bishop
Love this mate
cheers bro
At 6:11 white could have played b4 to exchange queens.
When you move Qb3, white can attack your bishop by b-pawn,
Am I wrong?
Yes, but black can ignore the trapped pawn and capture white's pawn on d4, resulting in both the d3 bishop and c3 knight hanging. The knight can then be taken with tempo, threatening to capture the a1 rook in the next move
Great video thanks
bro upload videos more frequently and also upload videos about gambits and openings in general , what do you think abou the king's gambit btw
I think If you're trying to improve fast, you should play something more solid
make more videos on how to climb rating ladder
What to do when the opponent does a3 and a4 after you pinned it
a3 and b4 you probably mean. Seems like you can just capture the knight and then take the pawn. (But then white has the bishop pair, which is said to worth half a pawn extra)
BxNc3 wine the queen no?!
Can you make a video about how to reach best position with e4 e5...(some principal chess like taking the centr..(
More coming bro
Great video
Cheers bro
Good video but I think you can learn ALL of these principles mentioned by studying endgames
Why is it important to note the exchanges in your head? You don't really explain the use of that routine
Thanks bro now i can finally hit 300 elo🫣
Blinding, ta very much

It goes with lots of things, people lose there mind in all sorts of endeavours. Chess is addictive and lots of people want to be good at it
not everything is about money
Why try to get good at anything that isn’t related to money by this logic?
1) Hobby.
2) Improves real life skills like awareness, pattern recognition, strategic thinking
why do you watch anime? it doesnt make you wealthy.
you see how that works?
What does elo stand for?
It's the last name of the guy who invented it. It's just a rating system.
