I love the brilliant idea to name the girl in the song France, which is a common name in France.
When at the end, the cops are shooting at France. The double meaning is really powerful.
Guessed it right it is indeed a demonstration, the translation from french being "manifestation" = "demonstration". The song obvioulsy refers to the growing demonstrations in paris, similarly to the yellow vests that continued despite covid, the reforms on pensions were a huge uproar for many and it led to violent protests... Anyways glad to see you reacting to this one ! It's more of a one time song, kinda like a story, so I guess there's less emphasis on the music and more on the text, with obviously lots of play on words that you couldn't catch. Great video !
"Bref" here is more like "anyway" when you want to stop talking about smth
And this song comes just before "l'odeur de l'essence" in the album it makes sense
OrelSan does a lot of these very narrative songs. A very fun one is "Défaite de famille" (a play on words on "fête de famille"="family gathering" and "défaite"="defeat"), where he lashes out at his family members after they pressured him into singing something, exposing all of their worst traits before dropping the mic at "Granny you that best"
"Je me dis que France n'aura pas sa retraite"
=> "humm... oooh, France is dead!"
So glad you react to this song ! And also so glad you had a good translation with you to experience this unique song in the best way possible 🙌
Damn crazy lyrics ouff multiple degrees 🔥👌
11 dead demonstration yellow vests
Medine did a lot of song like this one, some story telling talking about kids around the world, it's called "Enfant du destin" (Child of destiny) it's really deep and raw but well done. if you wanna check there is one "Enfant du destin" in each of his albums.
This is the kind of song I like because artists have to put enough emotions into their performance for the song to be good
Great song glad you liked it ! Love how the beat and his flow evolves during the song, plus awesome lyrics as usual, a masterpiece.
So... Before finding Wally, you had to find the Where is Wally book. You doubled the fun.
The narrative process in this song is quite similar to Renaud "C'est mon dernier bal" or Faf Larage "Putain de soire de merde".

The thing is that around 2019-2020 the french government had a huge reform about retirement, and some other law about gas prices maybe two or three months beforehand. These events started at the start a peaceful process especially popular within the less stable middle classes. Then, with the terrible reaction from the police and the special forces (extreme violence) it grew the fire to a blazing hell and it went almost civil-war like ambiance in some times... Here, Orelsan speaks about these issues while personalizing the country trough the character France
I can't believe how you react to all of Stromae's songs except for his amazing and historical song papaoutai please do it 😁
Really my favorite song
