A trick I learned; a very wise, older black woman coworker used to talk a lot. I mean a *LOT*. You THOUGHT you knew her well. But one day I realized, with all her talking, I really didn’t know her AT ALL. She talked about restaurants, food, movies, told cute, folksy stories about friends and acquaintances, current events, etc. she NEVER talked about herself, her family, who she was dating, she didn’t even talk about her kids or grandkids a lot. If you asked her a personal question, she was really smooth about easing by it and barely answering it. That’s how I strive to be.
I wanna be like that, too! People always feel the need to know things about you that they don't deserve, so taking back (and keeping) your power is the ultimate act of self-preservation.

Yes, they are extremely bothered when they can’t get information out of a low key person. I’ve had people try to watch my every move, just to see what I am about. I think these folks have control issues and must be in the know all the time. I get a kick out of being a mysterious person 💯
Yes I've experienced this too. Unfortunately they still found out a lot about me just by watching me. Two of them are stalkers (they are friends, ie not two unconnected stalkers). By watching me for many years, they found out my shift pattern at work, who I live with, where I go shopping, what car I got, my place of work etc. They then rifled through my garbage cans outside - a person's garbage gives away an awful lot about a person's lifestyle! Result - phenomenal damage and destruction to my life. Let's just say, murder of loved ones, false police reports, loss of my job etc. It's amazing how much a person can find out about another person by watching and following them non-stop.

As a teenager I used to fall for a few of that kind, the shock I had to suffer each time they stabbed me in the back after they had pretended to want to be there fore me was enough to put me off trusting anyone for life!

I’ve always wondered why my “peace” disturbed people. I've dealt with this my whole life. I keep to myself for the most part and it makes people not like me. They try to label you as the weird, creepy guy who doesn't talk to anyone. I can’t stand nosy people. I am a low key person and stay to myself and that made me a target at a former job. I went to work and did my job and went home. It was a lot of drama at the job and I didn’t get involved with it but yet my name was in the midst of it. Because I was a low key person who stayed to herself, rumors got spread about me. The females who worked there were big gossips and because I was not a gossip like they were and always talking about people including about each other when they were not around each other, they were telling people that something was wrong with me and started the rumor that I was bipolar and was on medication. Then other vicious rumors was started as well. It’s really funny how nosy people who don’t know me outside of that job would even stoop to that level of spreading rumors all because I was a big mystery to them. So happy to be out of that toxic workplace.

That happened to me too. I was at track practice and walked in on my teammates having a full conversation about me. I barely talked to them. At the time, I was a senior in high school in AP classes. I was getting ready for college and didn't have time for drama. All I did was grabbed my stuff n went home lol.

They wanted me to be a manager but I didn’t go back . Yes co workers are not friends. It's possible to make a friend at work but the majority are just people who you tolerate and try to stay civil with. If you ignore their gossip talk they will take a dislike towards you and start to ignore you all together. This has been my experience and it's fine by me

This is the epitome of my life story. Growing up I was always an introverted kid, but could be extroverted if I chose to, and it was that unpredictability that scared so any people. I was a natural leader so I never did what the crowd did and always went my own way, and that mindset has kept me alive and out of bullshit for all 27 years of my existence on Earth. The more lowkey you are, the more of a target you are because the nosey people NEED to know something about you to get an advantage over you to get what they want. Never give them that chance.

Hi, Ally. I experienced this as well. Last summer I removed WhatsApp from my phone because the use of it traumatized me during the school year. I could literally count on one hand the individuals who made the effort to reach out to me, and those individuals were not related to me by blood. One family member said it was costly to contact me because I did not have WhatsApp. I also go to work, do what needs to be done, then leave. I don't go out of my way to say hello to anyone other than the formal greeting if we cross paths. I've seen individuals at work now trying to get close to me, but I just keep it professional. Do your job. Get paid. Go home.

I tried that too, but just by watching me, my stalkers found out an awful lot about me. One of them only needed to turn up at my doctor's office for example, got told everything about my medical conditions. He then waltzed into the pharmacy next door to it and, without even having to ask for it, was provided with my name, address, and medications that I had been prescribed! My boss, who has also been obsessed with me for a number of years, simply turned up at my house unannounced very early in the morning just to watch (he didn't ring the doorbell) - to see whether I got a husband or anyone else living with me! I'm trying to make up things to throw people off my scent as they are like predatory animals, but they still find out an awful lot just by watching, following, and speaking to the right people.

It is interesting that when I was on social media a former friend would watch every story, never like a picture but 9 months later while I am off texted me saying hello!? Some people just want to be nosey and watch from a distance to keep tabs on you. Meanwhile I haven’t talk to that former friend in like 4 years. I was polite and kept it surface level.
This is very accurate. I have old high school friends that are first to watch my story in the first 10-15min and they never support a single thing, just watch. These tend to be the most insecure and spiteful people.

Whenever I post shit on my Instagram of what I’m up to, I post it like days later after the fact. People think I’m at point A but I was at point A a week ago 😭 I post old ass photos from a year ago, videos .. you name it lol. I like photography so I post nature photos, buildings, blah blah blah and they’re all older photos and barely anything of myself except of one selfie I posted at the end of May this year. I’m going on vacation with my boyfriend next month and those scenic photos will be shown weeks after the fact

When you move away from your home city/state, the best way to keep nosy people out your business is by keeping the new people you've met and collaborate with off all your social media platforms (pictures, videos, posts, etc.) There's no need to leave a town for privacy and then just reopen your life back up to the public by posting everything.

Yes I've experienced this too. Unfortunately they still found out a lot about me just by watching me. Two of them are stalkers (they are friends, ie not two unconnected stalkers). By watching me for many years, they found out my shift pattern at work, who I live with, where I go shopping, what car I got, my place of work etc. They then rifled through my garbage cans outside - a person's garbage gives away an awful lot about a person's lifestyle! Result - phenomenal damage and destruction to my life. Let's just say, murder of loved ones, false police reports, loss of my job etc. It's amazing how much a person can find out about another person by watching and following them non-stop.

I can’t stand nosy people. I am a low key person and stay to myself and that made me a target at a former job. I went to work and did my job and went home. It was a lot of drama at the job and I didn’t get involved with it but yet my name was in the midst of it. Because I was a low key person who stayed to herself, rumors got spread about me. The females who worked there were big gossips and because I was not a gossip like they were and always talking about people including about each other when they were not around each other, they were telling people that something was wrong with me and started the rumor that I was bipolar and was on medication. Then other vicious rumors was started as well. It’s really funny how nosy people who don’t know me outside of that job would even stoop to that level of spreading rumors all because I was a big mystery to them. So happy to be out of that toxic workplace.

Hi, Ally. I experienced this as well. Last summer I removed WhatsApp from my phone because the use of it traumatized me during the school year. I could literally count on one hand the individuals who made the effort to reach out to me, and those individuals were not related to me by blood. One family member said it was costly to contact me because I did not have WhatsApp. I also go to work, do what needs to be done, then leave. I don't go out of my way to say hello to anyone other than the formal greeting if we cross paths. I've seen individuals at work now trying to get close to me, but I just keep it professional. The result was phenomenal damage and destruction to my life - think murder of loved ones, false police reports, loss of job etc. They have connections in high places, ie city hall and police, so they can always find things out about me. One of them only needed to turn up at my doctor's office for example, got told everything about my medical conditions. He then waltzed into the pharmacy next door to it and, without even having to ask for it, was provided with my name, address, and medications that I had been prescribed!
My boss, who has also been obsessed with me for a number of years, simply turned up at my house unannounced very early in the morning just to watch (he didn't ring the doorbell) - to see whether I got a husband or anyone else living with me!
I'm trying to make up things to throw people off my scent as they are like predatory animals, but they still find out an awful lot just by watching, following, and speaking to the right people.

All truth. Protect your peace at all times. Started working in a plant job at 20, now 28. Came in low key, but due to the fact I had an uncle working there, people already had some info on me. Over the years, I’ve watched people smile and laugh w others and as soon as they walk away, they’re telling everything they’ve heard or seen on FB about you to everyone else. The younger me would have thought, “damn, I thought they were best friends the way they smiled and laughed together”. NOPE.
Sometimes I gotta catch myself from being caught up into people’s business.

This was good! I’ve been low key and totally off the grid on Facebook and IG. Best feeling ever! It is interesting that when I was on social media a former friend would watch every story, never like a picture but 9 months later while I am off texted me saying hello!? Some people just want to be nosey and watch from a distance to keep tabs on you. Meanwhile I haven’t talk to that former friend in like 4 years. I was polite and kept it surface level.

This is very accurate. I have old high school friends that are first to watch my story in the first 10-15min and they never support a single thing, just watch. These tend to be the most insecure and spiteful people.

Whenever I post shit on my Instagram of what I’m up to, I post it like days later after the fact. People think I’m at point A but I was at point A a week ago 😭 I post old ass photos from a year ago, videos .. you name it lol. I like photography so I post nature photos, buildings, blah blah blah and they’re all older photos and barely anything of myself except of one selfie I posted at the end of May this year.
I’m going on vacation with my boyfriend next month and those scenic photos will be shown weeks after the fact

I come from a town where everybody knows everybody's business. When you move away from your home city/state, the best way to keep nosy people out your business is by keeping the new people you've met and collaborate with off all your social media platforms (pictures, videos, posts, etc.) There's no need to leave a town for privacy and then just reopen your life back up to the public by posting everything.
