    26:50 "This guy's not insane, right?"
    Your opponent here is Maru, I think its a given that Maru is 100% insane. :p
    Looking at your reactions from this game and based off other games I've seen from him in the past, I feel like Maru probably gets in to people's heads a bit with his play, makes them feel more threatened than they actually are, and forces bad engagements that way. That's really interesting, because while he's an absurdly good player, half the challenge feels like its staying calm against him, recognizing he can't have everything at once, and realizing when you actually have more time than you think you have. Even with all your experience at the game, it feels like you're constantly being pressured to put more in to the main fight than you need to/commit everything, when the right move is often to stay back or pick off reinforcements while macroing up. That really explains why from a caster perspective, Maru wins so often when he's behind, if he just is a master at convincing his opponent that they need to walk in to bad fights.

  • @meeshuSC2

    GJ Harstem, you had him several times. I don't think they play phoenixes in Korea that much, but after this one maybe they will :)

    • @tigera6
      @tigera6 3 роки тому +1

      There is a reason they dont play it that frequently, because if you put 20-30 supply into Phoenicis, you dont have a ground army and a 2 base Terran push can wipe your base off the map in 5 minutes.

    • @meeshuSC2
      @meeshuSC2 3 роки тому +1

      @@tigera6 You've got a point but it's all about surprise, isn't it. Maru was put in an off foot two times and had to blindly counter the phoenix at game 4. If I were Zoun or HerO I would like to scout Maru asap and have the element of surprise. Bottom line, I think a great approach from Harstem. You simply do not play standard against Maru.

    • @tigera6
      @tigera6 3 роки тому +1

      @@meeshuSC2 Actually early Phoenicis build has become popular in recent months, even in the GSL. I saw Trap and Zest did this a couple time, its becoming more a standard build, although still not as popular as the 4 gate blink stalker build in PvT.
      I do agree that Maru got caught and did not react properly this time around though. Also, another thing would be that Maru often went too greedy with early 3 CC expansion allowing the Phoenix to do damage to his army and economy for too long as well. If you see the later game Harstem play against Clem, Clem just push out at 2 CC before Harstem even get any robotics unit out, and it was gg.

    The perfect counter to anyone who proxies is to counter proxy to blockade them in their main. Don't attempt to kill them but starve them
    As soon as you hassle the front of their main they are forced to fight their way out off one mineral patch.
    They have no information on the size of your forces so they have to make a large army to fight their way out.
    As long as you send one unit to scout the map and kill their SCV they cannot expand.
    You want to start mining a second mineral patch as soon as possible.
    The sooner you start mining your second mineral patch you can outproduce them.
    Even if they do manage to fight their way out you should be so far ahead in resources it should not matter

    Dear Harstem,
    Protoss is completely OP. All they need to do is produce a load of Phoenixes and you can't do anything. They can roam unchallenged, eating up your SCV line and re-enforcements until they can get out the mother of all OP units: the carrier. Is Protoss IMBA with their AOE, air and super units, or do I suck?
