I have a lot of respect for Serch. My uncle, who was only a few years older than me and was basically like my big brother, and who had gotten me into Hip-Hop music in the winter of 83/84), loved 3rd Bass and rocked them constantly. Seeing/hearing him gives me nostalgia for 89/90 - which was a very rough 2 years for me, but a time whose magic resonated above all the bullshit.
3rd Bass was, as far as i know, the first hip hop group to show Memphis love on wax on Derelicts. They were on top of their game when they were around. Slick professionals dropping professional records. They absolutely stand up today if you dig them out and listen to them.
I knew this interview was going to be good when he called Vlad out at the beginning for trying to call 3rd Base “legendary” after Vlad shitted on him on a vanilla ice interview previously
people shit on legends all the time. people shit on tom brady and still call him the goat. no legend has existed free of scrutiny. people shit on jesus .. come on now lol
Serch is a legend. Facts! He may be humble to a fault. 3rd Bass was a huge influence for me personally. The first song I ever wrote in like 90 maybe 91 was called "Rip the Mic" and the breaks between verses was my DJ cutting on Serch saying "Let me rip the mic and go for mine". Salute.

I’m around the age range I never listened to him growing up but I like this interview. Won me over as a person and personality. Excellent stories and historical connections. Seems like a good hearted person.
I believe that story on Hammer, Hammer was harder than everybody gave him credit for and there's other rappers who dealt with Hammer, and the outcome was similar except w/o the contract hit for 50k as serch claimed they were told, hammer being an Oaktown OG was known for some of his beefs in the streets in his earlier years before he became the multi platinum selling artist, but that bullshit story he told about Bushwick bill was very much something he pieced together.
It's a pleasure to listen to this guy. He's a natural story teller and he's experienced so many things, his memory is fantastic, this is one of the best interviews I've ever listened to overall
Great Interview, i loved 3rd Bass as a kid, MC Serch you need to get someone to animate your stories as episodes, that would be dope! I envisioned that Bushwick story in cartoon form which made it extra hilarious...lol

LOVED this interview! Serch was a hero to me growing up in the 90's as an aspiring hip hop artist! That Bushwick Bill story is one of the greatest & funniest stories ever told!

This guy doesn’t need questions. Tells the whole story without a question. Great story teller .
It’s because almost every word is a lie. He changes his stories every single time interviewed.
He definitely tells stories
I know there are no absolutes, but I've yet to meet a New Yorker who wasn't a great story teller.
