    For those who know, this interview was needed! Serch was truly the Forrest Gump of hip hop! His high school stories alone are the foundations of hip hop. For those of us who grew up during what many consider the best era of hip hop, Serch was a huge part of it. I can listen to his stories for long time, one of best interviews on here. To be able to see the beginnings of Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, Dana Dane, Nas, O.C. and what these branched out to with Queensbridge, D.I.T.C and many others....amazing career. This is hip hop!

    I’ve heard of the Nas story with him years ago, but never knew the details behind it. This was so important to me because Nas has been my favorite rapper since 1994. I’m SO glad I watched this interview, because this has to be one of the best Drink Champs interviews, ever!!! This is definitely in my top 5 best ones by them!!! MC Serch, is one of the realest, and most authentic hip hop legends out here!! You can tell he has always been a student of the culture, and has always had extreme love for hip hop. Now he’s an icon/legend. He’s definitely put a lot of people on! This interview should have WAY more than 1 million. 2 years? It should have at least 4-5 million by now. If only people really knew how important he was to hip hop. But he played the background most of his latter part of his career. So, he wasn’t in folks faces as a rapper anymore. He switched over to the business side. Happy for him! He seems very settled, and comfortable in his own skin, and knows who the Phuck he is! That’s so important in life.

      True

    • @deftones8717
      @deftones8717 2 роки тому +3

      Yup.. it’s so true… my musical taste is pretty much strictly 90s to early 2000s shit. From hip hop, to R&B, to alternative rock/grunge/nu metal etc. I try to give newer and current music a chance, but 99% of it is GARBAGE! I’m sorry but I don’t understand how people can listen to the new school rap. Its such a shame the direction hip hop went, in MY opinion. 90s emcees were sooooo much more lyrical, original, and skilled in general. It was more of an art form.. some of it was deep and poetic. The beats/instrumentals in the 90s and early 2000s were just better! I simply can’t fathom how anyone could willingly listen to the new shit, when they COULD BE listening to REAL hip hop. I’m talking about stuff like 90s mobb deep, big pun, big L, wu tang, cormega, Capone n Noreaga, boot camp cliq (Sean Price, Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, Smif n Wesson), Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, AZ, Bone Thugs, EPMD, Pharcyde, Non Phixion, Lost Boyz, Gangstarr, 2Pac, Das EFX, Black Thought, DMX, A Tribe Called Quest, Group Home, the Lox, Dipset, Lord Finesse, Onyx, M.O.P., Naughty By Nature, Raekwon, Tragedy Khadafi, Biggie, etc etc etc
      I could go on and on.. then you got some of the greatest R&B artists ever, such as Ginuwine, Jodeci, 112, Jagged Edge, Mario, Joe, Tyrese, Jon B, Donell Jones, Aaliyah, Mya, Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Brian McKnight, etc etc
      My bad.. this comment is ridiculously long.. I just wanted to emphasize how great that era was for music. It was the golden era! I wish the old school style would make a come back ASAP!
      Lastly, I know some younger people, like gen Z’ers, and people who like the current music and the current state of rap, might take offense to my comment, but it’s just my personal taste. I will say that there still are some good emcees coming up today, but they are rare.. like J Cole.. he’s an example of a current rapper who is actually talented and dope. But sadly, there will never be another golden era of hip hop like the 90s to early 2000s was. And that concludes my essay lol damn I spent way too much time typing this shit that no one will ever read 😆

      Imho?? Serch was more of the loudmouth in 3rd Bass he would talk for them. But Serch is also an hypocritical liar as well. He actually tarnished their legacy with fake ass stories like the one with Rakim. Serch said they lit a fire under Rakim ass to finish their album which was “Follow The Leader” at the time of Sway interview. Why didn’t Pete spoke up to let everyone know that day it wasn’t true? This shit is brought up again in 2020 and that was like 6 or 7 years ago.
      Pete was the better MC than Serch. “Dust to Dust” album is incredible. But Pete never spoke up much, and that was a problem I have. It still wasn’t cleared up about what made them break up. Like did they have a fight or something on that tour bus or what??

    This was a real treat to anyone who appreciates true Hip Hop! Being an 80’s baby obsessed with the music and culture this was absolutely amazing to watch. MC Search I loved his music and learned so much about his behind the scenes contributions. Things that I loved through the years from artists to brands I had no idea he was a part but I did know there was a real hip hop culture force behind it, is mind blowing. Searchlight I’ve known about but I never made the connection. And what’s crazy is when he talked about weed I feel the same I never paid for it and I haven’t smoked it in 15 years its just something I could do without and people think I’m crazy but I love having a clear mind... The excitement I have from watching this is timeless. It brought back memories of watching and listening to the artists mentioned and reading about most of these events, something this new generation will never understand!
