    I think a bit part of the nostalgia is that we subconsciously miss the short moments of downtime, the slightly longer transitions between events that allow our brains to digest what we just did/saw and to prepare for the next thing. The smartphone and instant access to media/dopamine moved in to fill all the mental slack. So our brain says "Dopamine=good, no dopamine=bad; stimulus=good, stillness=bad", which means we are mentally always on.

      Can't remember the original video but a musician spoke about how ease of access has destroyed music because now anyone can throw spotify on for background noise. In older days it took planning, effort, and anticipation to set up a record which led to heavy listening only. Now it's watered down. Plus technology advancements like quantization or autotune means anyone can make music without any instruments or skill.

    2:41 i think it's not just about childhood nostalgia, but going to Blockbuster was an EVENT. The family piled into the car, or however they'd get to BB, and the discussion of WHAT movie is coming home was fun. The snacks were right there and relatively affordable, iirc. Everything you needed for movie night was right in one place. Whereas now you gotta get your snacks from the convenience or grocery store, search which streaming service has the movie you want. Both have their pros and cons

      Welcome Daphne ! You have been missing out. These 2 are pretty cute, entertainment wise. They have a pretty clean cut gig going on, they rarely swear and they don't often take the Lord's name in vain ( big ups IMO). Ken used to live here now him & his family live in Australia ( his wife's an Aussie ) Buff & Ken have been B.F's since their youth. Ken is a good friend of PewDPie (sp). Ken started off with zero kid's now he & wife Mary ( who's Awesome) now have 4 or 5 children. I believe Dane was single a long time and a couple of years ago he met a Fine lady who came into Danes life with an added little bonus of a small child, well as far as I've been able to figure out. Ken & Family recently had a renewal vow ceremony and Pewds and his family flew from Japan to attend then they went to Disneyland.
      This is, has been and Hopefully will be a Great little place to relax, get a little information and mostly enjoy the content. Now that I have kinda brought you up to date, I must say Thanks to You because up until this moment I didn't realize how much I keep track of 2 people who I enjoy yet I've never met. That Proactiv commercial aged so badly to me not just because of Diddy. It was found out later that at the time, Proactiv products had harmful cancerous chemicals which is why your skin would feel like it was literally burning when you would use it. Al least that's what happened to me.

    • @Krystal40553
      @Krystal40553 Місяць тому +6

      No same!
      My mom used it and let me try when I was 11 or 12 and the moment I had it on it burn my face and my mom said it’s supposed to sing a little when you put it on. But for me it was painful and burning a lot that after a minute I immediately washed it off and my whole face was red especially my cheeks, which were swollen. After a few hours, my face was normal, but my cheek still stayed red and were a little bit swollen that I look like a chipmunk and it was like that for two weeks straight in middle school and my cheeks hurt! People thought I had blush on or I was eating something due to my inflamed skin and I was teased for it a few months I was in school.😭😭😭
      My mom said she kept using it for herself, but I never used it again. The thing was my mom didn’t believe me when I say it hurts when I put on the stuff. She thought I was overdramatic wouldn’t let me wash my face off until I kept saying it was really really painful for me and she scoffed and called me a baby until she saw my face then she try to help soothe my face and cheeks by putting on ice and lotion, but she never apologized and thinks I just had an allergic reaction that’s all and teased me for being weak.😅😅😅

      It is possible you did have an allergic reaction though if swelling lasted days beyond washing it off.
      I personally can't use Neutrogena facial skin care products because it burns like acid on my skin and causes swelling, but it works fine for my mom. I use Cetaphil but that burns my mom. 😂
      But I always heard from friends/family that Proactive always dried their skin out so bad and burned, I never tried it because it was too expensive.

    When Cosby gave those depositions in the 90s, the prosecutor agreed that those depositions could not be used against him in court; they then proceeded to use those depositions to convict him. They can't do that - they agreed not to. I don't like it either but like. Follow the rules, maybe?

    I think what made renting so great was making every minute you had with the game/movie count. Im from a rural ass town (village by definition) dead center of the Appalachians. The only place you could rent from was a small gass station/ local hangout called The Kwik Shop, and you'd get 1 night for $2.25, 2 nights for $4, or 7 nights for $10. My dad would only let me rent 1 game for Saturday and Sunday every week.
    I still VIVIDLY remember playing those games more-so than what i played last week. Simpsons: Road Rage, Smugglers Run, Red Dead Revolver, Freekstyle, Halo CE, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2+3, WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth/ Here Comes the Pain, Spyro.. sooo many good memories lmao

    High school counselor here, and I need to say that 100% disagree with you. In my experience, for the majority of kids and teens, parents are their #1 biggest influence. It doesn't mean that kids aren't their own unique individuals. And it doesn't mean that teens wont often "rebel" to test their own autonomy and learn how they unique from their parents. And it also doesn't mean that peer pressure isn't a real thing. But in my experience, most children's core values, such as their concepts of right and wrong, how they see the world, and how they see themselves, come directly from their parents.

    • @thetnrwoman1052
      @thetnrwoman1052 Місяць тому

      So I think I should clarify that when I say "influence" I do not necessarily mean "positive influence" . In my experience, MANY parents have very negatively influenced their children! Kids/teens that come from an abusive/neglectful home are much more likely to have negative self-image, have mental/emotional instability, and engage in risky/dangerous behavior(s). They are also more likely to be abusive/neglectful with their own children, which is how we see generational trauma.
      On the contrary, kids/teenagers with a caring and reliable parent(s)/guardian(s) are much more likely to have positive self-image, mental/emotional fortitude, and are less likely to engage in risky/dangerous behavior(s).
      For kids/teens without parents, they often are most influenced by their guardians, and the adults around them. That influence could be positive or negative, depending on who the guardians/adults are.

      It was cheaper than Block Buster too 😅 We had a Movie Zone near us and every Tuesday before 2pm was 50% off rentals

    Cosby's verdict was overturned NOT because thy found him innocent, but because they found the prosecutors made several errors in the case. He is still considered a convict and has to be on the sex registry in PA (I live in the state, and just like the Joe Paterno case, it was ALL the news talked about for ages). Cosby also lost the civil cases aganinst most of the women and some of the charges hav been brought against him in anothwer trial - ones that had been dropped initially, but that is ongoing atm.

      Wow, I can remember that from kindergarten, we had to learn and be able to write down our address and home phone number in case of an emergency. 😅

    I never went to Blockbuster, but my mom would take me to the library to rent VHS tapes. There was something special about having to go out of your way to get a movie.
