@@sherlock_psych I recommend all of my left handed friends to learn right hand guitar. Why? You're not an average Joe. The average Joes don't share your level of curiosity and determination to learn. That itself is already a pretty unique characteristic for a person to have, regardless of intelligence or natural ability.
The biggest pitfall I faced was getting discouraged finding out people who were playing for less time exceeded my progress. But I got over it. Still in the game
You probably won't read this anymore but this inspired me to buy a second guitar after owning one for 2 years. I played that one for half/3 quarters of a year right handed. After seeing this video and motivating me to start picking it up again (and notifying me that there are also left handed guitars), I bought a left handed one since that is my dominant hand. Thanks Mike! You're awesome.
This is cool, but you're already a musician and guitar player so it's easier for you to switch as opposed to someone with no musical inclination, or pre knowledge of chords, fingerings, etc. But still shows it's possible to learn an instrument from scratch relatively quickly.
AESTETHICAL Chords are hard for someone who has absolutely no musical abilities. You're probably someone who has some musical inclination or it's in your DNA as it is mine. Give someone with no musical inclination a guitar and try to have them do a B chord, or even change from two simple chords like a G to a C, then you'll see what I mean. People who don't have that ability to pick up a guitar and play it within a few minutes, won't be able to do it without a lot of practice. Doing a proper barre chord and getting all the strings to produce sound correctly isn't easy at all for the average person, nor is it any easier for them to make a proper A, C, G, F, etc chord every time without practice.

Very impressive! I'm left handed, so playing guitar right handed is exactly how it felt playing left handed for you. I've always wanted to learn right handed as well, I might try eventually.
I just got a guitar, 90$, but it always sounds 'wierd' like my tuner will tell be it good but when i strumm it it sounds a bit off ( im new to guitar playing )
Yours Truly been playing guitar for 5 years now. Probably you just not brung used to it, happens also when you swap instruments ( using one piano then playing on another, they're both in tune but sound different )
It could be your intonation. Try fretting the 12th fret on the lowest string and see if the tuner says it's right. If your guitar is in e standard, it should be an e note on the 12th fret
I think more impressive than learning a guitar the opposite hand, is switching and playing the entire solo and ending, while the strings are upside down! Cheers!
Mike has actually inspired me to not give up and to work hard to achieve my goals. My name is Jesper and I just started writing my own music. I just finished writing my first song and I really like it. It's about the up and downs in life, and it would mean A LOT to me if you would check it out (and ofc tell me what you think). The song is inspired by Ed Sheeran's "You need me I don't need you". Lots of love in advance, and keep up the good work Mike.
If you're starting from scratch, there is absolutely no reason you can't learn guitar right handed. While both hands are important in guitar playing, fretting notes (left hand for a righty) takes the most dexterity. So most guitar players use their non-dominant hand for the more difficult part. Theoretically a lefty learning guitar right handed shouldn't be any more difficult than learning left handed.

That's a joke right?
It’s a squier so it’s $260 CAD
do you know how much instruments cost? guitars are really cheap compared to other things, and a 100 dollar guitar doesn't really differ much from a 1500 dollar one
My dad bought a good starter guitar secondhand for 35 bucks
@@onkeltodor7601 a 100$ guitar doesn't differ much from a 1500$ one, yeah thats complete bullshit.
@@assholian3225 agreed
This inspired me to play guitar.2 years later still inspiring thanks Mike!
That lick he plays in the intro is tasty tbh. Nice blues chops Mike 😄
Smoke on the water is everyone's first song on the guitar 😅

eyes black that is one of the easiest tricks on a skateboard, you barely even have to Ollie on a low enough rail
Loved this video. Thank you for the encouragement!!!!👍❤️
Very impressive! I'm left handed, so playing guitar right handed is exactly how it felt playing left handed for you. I've always wanted to learn right handed as well, I might try eventually.
"Let me try to play a card"
I just got a guitar, 90$, but it always sounds 'wierd' like my tuner will tell be it good but when i strumm it it sounds a bit off ( im new to guitar playing )
Yours Truly been playing guitar for 5 years now. Probably you just not brung used to it, happens also when you swap instruments ( using one piano then playing on another, they're both in tune but sound different )
It could be your intonation. Try fretting the 12th fret on the lowest string and see if the tuner says it's right. If your guitar is in e standard, it should be an e note on the 12th fret
Are you pressing too hard and slightly bringing the strings out of tune?
Eventually, Mike will have to re spawn to be an an "average" joe
I think more impressive than learning a guitar the opposite hand, is switching and playing the entire solo and ending, while the strings are upside down! Cheers!
I appreciate the Jimi Hendrix method at the end with that soloing. Fantastic!!!!
Legend says this vid is inverted
It’s cheap,
Well that’s questionable
Compared to playing a church organ then it's cheap
You can get a decent-sounding acoustic for like 50 quid, cant think of many instruments cheaper than that
Ur just poor
Key Co.
Ok
Unimaginable not everyone here lives with there parents like u
He couldve just been like "i hve a mole on this side of my face"
But noo, he had to flip the guitar and make it harder for himself 😂
This man is the most skillful man on earth i swear
Mike has actually inspired me to not give up and to work hard to achieve my goals. My name is Jesper and I just started writing my own music. I just finished writing my first song and I really like it. It's about the up and downs in life, and it would mean A LOT to me if you would check it out (and ofc tell me what you think). The song is inspired by Ed Sheeran's "You need me I don't need you". Lots of love in advance, and keep up the good work Mike.
Mike Boyd: “it’s cheap”
Me at guitar center buying the cheapest guitar I can find for $1000.
Look for a Squier or Epiphone. They're cheaper instruments with essentially the same parts, but not made in America
4:12 "Fender Strat" look at the headstock.
Squier is made by fender but just not made in America like fenders are.
always wanted to learn guitar. but being a southpaw the world hates on you...
ikr
+William Cranke definitely want to.
+William Cranke do you think I should flip it and play it basically upside down or just try to learn it right handed?
If you're starting from scratch, there is absolutely no reason you can't learn guitar right handed. While both hands are important in guitar playing, fretting notes (left hand for a righty) takes the most dexterity. So most guitar players use their non-dominant hand for the more difficult part. Theoretically a lefty learning guitar right handed shouldn't be any more difficult than learning left handed.
Mc Lovin string a right handed guitar backwards.
It's the gems you dropped that I found beneficial to getting started playing. thank you
Oh damn, after 9 hours of learning you play better than I play after 2 years

This video is cursed because of the left handed guitar
This motivated me to continue to play guitar months back, I still suck, but I suck less.
Thanks for this video man, from tomorrow morning, thanks to you and a friend of mine called Doyle, I will start again playing guitar left-handed upside down!!
Pres
Michael Angelo batio is watching this and laughing lol
Lol
Im left handed but i cant play left handed guitar, it seems hard for me
Wo0D3N same I play righthanded
I feel like it makes more sense to fret with your dominant hand
Wo0D3N me too
There's only one problem with this video:

Im left handed so this is pure entertainment to me. Been playing guitar for almost 10 years
and yep he turned into jimi hendrix
Funniest shit i've ever seen
He need to restring the guitar to be proper Hendrix
"I encourage people to play guitar because it's cheap"
*laughs in failed economy*
That wasn’t a fender thats a squire!!!
michel quintana izzo it's the same basically
NetherCheese32// Gaming videos and more! Not really a fender is usually very expensive and has a lot of history around it and a squier is like a beginners guittar usually getting the best bang for the price
michel quintana izzo yeah but it's the same company
Squier has great guitars. I have a Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster and a Fender Jaguar and the Jazzmaster is way better
Daniel Souza wish they made them lefty, beautiful guitars.
You did better in one day than I did in two months.
''cheap''

diamondsprince I don't think that's his issue
Playing a left handed guitar is really not like learning from scratch... You have an understanding of music in general, the fretboard, how you want your sound etc.
Yess, finally a right hand player is trying lefty, I’m a lefty that wrote this at 35 seconds in. This should be fun!!
Hes a lefty just so you but he does throw righty.
And the wind explodes with the chorus, epic!
