Rommel was a Nazi. He was a huge Nazi. In fact, he was the biggest Nazi there was ... while being a Nazi was all about making Germany great again. When it switched over to killing Jews, he quite literally said: This obsession with the Jews has got to stop!
So in his time he was a Nazi. But in today's world, when we only think of Nazis as people who persecuted and killed Jews (and others), then we forget that Rommel was a Nazi because he never wanted to do any of that.
I like how people here toss around just enough information to support their claim while completely ignoring all facts nullifying them.
Rommel was NOT a Nazi per se as he was not a member of the Nazi party. He only supported their rise to power, not their ideology or antisemitism.
The only link he had to them was his close relationship to Adolf Hitler. But he didn't care at all about politics.

The thing about Japaneses tanks were they were not expected to go up against any thing but Peasant farmers who have not seen a car before. They were build with pig iron with a low velocity howitzer as the main gun, It would work well against Chinese militia or warlords, not so much against any actual military.

Rommel Myth, you can't possible say he was against the nazis. He is a very ambiguous character, open the interpretation. Most German commanders didn't wear a swastika on their uniform. It was mostly Gestapo or political leaders who wore it.
I tried to do a report on Rommel and my teacher told my he was SS and involved at Auswitz.

Rommel had opportunities to use his favored position to steer the country away from the ideological extremism that plagued his nation and could have taken an active role in the Valkyrie plans. One could easily claim that he tacitly supported Hitler and the party line simply by being passive and only willing to accept following orders as his only duty to country/humanity.
He very much supported Hitler and viewed him highly. Can't say he was a total nazi supporter but you can't say he opposed them strictly.

Good look with that. Since the actual historical Rommel only hated the ineffectiveness of the Third Reich . And at best questioned the need for the holocaust.
And took absolutely no steps to interfere with it. And even when he finally turned against Hitler it was strictly for political and military reasons. He simply saw Hitler as unfit to lead the Nazis to victory. Man had no problem with National Socialism itself.
