- I don’t know when this TV station closed down but an article online I found said that this place got sold by Fox Television Stations in September 2018 to Hartz Mountain Industries for $4.05 million. The article also said that they began demolition here in June 2019 but doesn’t look like they haven’t demolished anything as of yet.

To anyone who grew up in Jersey in the 80s, like I did, this is really sad to see.
I know, I been in Jersey all my life and lived my childhood mostly in the 90's. I forgot the TV station used to be here, wonder what they are going to do with the place
Classic mid 80’s to early 90’s Corporate architecture. Shame it’ll be leveled.
Yeah, I really liked the structure of the building. Could have been salvageable I think but seemed like they didn't wanna move forward with this building.
I remember watching a talk show that was taped there back in the 1980's called
"People Are Talking" with Richard Bey,and Renee Hambley.
Hmm that's interesting
Saw Morton Downey Jr tape his show there back in the late 80's.
So you actually were in the guest crowd when he aired his show?
@@TimurD1905 Yep...Morton was loud & brash ... just like the audience!
@@felixnight385 He was probably a crazy character back then
He's definitely rolling from his grave because they're in Ch 5s property and so is anchor Tom Dunn
@@ericsamuelson5656 Tom Dunn actually died of being a fool back then and hates Sundays a lot, like Sunday was the last day of the workweek, but still
Since the 80's, RPN was located at Broadcast City in QC before moved to Panay Ave. And in November, 2012 it was layoff workers.
Yeah but that's not the same network, that's in the Philippines lol
I went to a lot of tapings there back in the 80s. It's sad to see it this way.
Wow, that's interesting. They relocated in Manhattan, didn't they?
@@TimurD1905They're in the Fox TV Station building in Manhattan's Upper East Side.
This is a cool find! I know this building/area. Great piece of commercial real estate for sure.
Yeah I thought it was pretty cool too. Too bad they want to demolish it, I don't think the building is in that bad of a condition though
Sad bro. I remember watching all those movies on channel 9. Brooklyn NY
Things are not the same anymore like how they used to be, everything in general. I wish I was a kid again lol
@@TimurD1905 I would have to agree. The world SUCKS BALLS these days.
@@billbates5475 I blame the internet, technology and people haha
@@TimurD1905 - Or in Channel 9's case, "everything in [RKO] General."
During RKO's ownership (under which, from 1968 to 1986, their studios were above the now-demolished Rialto Theatre at 1481 Broadway - where the Reuters building now stands), Channel 9 was as bare-bones budget as the fictitious SCTV network, and the TV program in terms of its own production in its first season in Canada. It was thus apropos in a way that a low-budget TV station would air a low-budget TV sketch comedy show about a fictitious low-budget TV station. (But on Sept. 22, 1979, the show moved to NBC-owned WNBC-TV in the NYC metro, airing right after "Saturday Night Live.")
So did I
My mom used to drive by the old Channel 9 studios on her way to work when I was growing up in Lyndhurst up until 2002. Even when Nexstar is stressing the importance of localism in TV News, It’s sad that now, certain stations have become a dumping ground for syndication. Even more so since Sinclair is replacing several low-rated newscasts in some cities with “The National Desk.” Unfortunately, it won’t be long before WPEC, my local CBS affiliate, suffers the same fate…
I don't even watch TV anymore, just UA-cam and movies.
WHAT? There's a WWOR station facility in Secaucus, NJ? I thought it was headquartered in New York where it's a flagship station.
It was here before, now it's in Manhattan
@@TimurD1905 Uh, okay then.
What? Abandoned?! If this is nothing, then where did My 9 Studio moved?
I believe they are operating in Manhattan now
All of My 9's operations are now back in Manhattan, at the Fox 5 studios.
Do you still work for the company?
@@TimurD1905 I never worked for them, just know this from reading about it
went from ny to jersey just to go back to ny just like the nets lol
@@retroguy1976 I thought NJ Nets were in Jersey the whole time and then moved to Brooklyn, right?
@@TimurD1905 yes, but they were in NY during the aba days then when the aba folded and they went to the nba in 76, they moved to jersey till 2012
Would be cool to Acquire the sign for the place that says my 9 on it
That would be memorabilia for you lol
When the original WOR TV 9 became WWOR 9, cable TV dropped it. Programming went down hill.
What was the reasoning for cable tv dropping it?
Anyone remember Matt Lauer on 9 Broadcast Plaza?
I think I remember seeing him on TV before, was he on NBC?
they closed in '01 when united television became fox
Ah I see interesting
That would have been cool as hell to go inside. But not the arrest afterwards lol.
Haha right on that one. Still would have been dope to go inside though, yeah
4:06 police goes right by. Good thing he didn't scale that fence!
I know lol. I'm not taking any chances, especially when I'm by myself too
I'm glad that they finally abandoned the WWOR-TV/Channel 9 building in Secaucus, NJ and that's good because I'm a real New Yorker and I'm happy about that, but still
Lol I never knew that the building used to be in Secaucus. I wonder if it's still there
@@TimurD1905 But Channel 9 already at 220 East 42nd Street alongside WB5 back this past spring
Another historical landmark about to go. Very sad.
At least I was able to film this before the building was gone for good, but yeah quite sad to see this
@@TimurD1905 Honestly, you done good. It just sucks that the local network TV game has fallen so far.
@@marcelparker6755 I guess being in a different era now changes a lot of things, people nowadays don’t really watch much live TV and watch movie streaming apps and other stuff
Is it a mall inside?
No lol. This was a former TV station, what are you thinking?
Yeah,td3 they just moved to wnyw studios in new York.
Oh yeah, I read that somewhere online. Did they move to Manhattan?
@@TimurD1905 yes they did and now they address is 205 e. 67th st in new York City.
@@matthewcampbell7985 Cool, at least they relocated
It sucks that WWOR Secaucus doesn’t show local news anymore how does a network function without news?
@@FernandoIfillRuiz Because, I want WWOR/Channel 9 to air local news for the first time since 2013 and guess what? PIX11 will abandoned local news because of ESPN's Monday Night Football games before 2023
Yeah probably looks like they're going to destroy it
Possibly next year they will, since 2021 is almost over
@@TimurD1905 cool already dec 2
woor tv 📺
Lol
Very funny because it's WWOR/Channel 9, not WOOR-TV, fool. Stop drinking alcohol, all right
The real Warner Bros. network - first UPN (and I will revive it) and then MyNetworkTV (the sequel to UPN), but I have love for CW, as they're an admission that UPN won the network wars between them and The WB. I will also make a Warner Bros. network called WB! UPN wasn't a Warner Bros. network officially. It was mostly Paramount, but through PTEN, it was Warner Bros., way more than shitty The WB. Tribune always sucked and were unpopular.
What is CW? Just wondering
@@TimurD1905 The current network that replaced UPN and was a merger between them and Warner Bros. (no matter what some idiot says they were not loving of The WB, their prototype first logo was Warner Bros. and UPN logos over "CW"). They, along with MyNetworkTV, are the heirs to UPN. UPN won that war, bro.
@@robjackson5245 Hmm I see, I don't know too much about TV stations but I do know Warner Bros and UPN
I helped take stuff out of it years ago. It was being used by a guy name Moe and some lady Theresa for a film production company but flopped in less than a year.
Ah interesting, seems like they are probably gonna knock this place down
