Closing Kmart in Kearny, NJ

- This Kmart is closing in May 2021, so there’s not much time left till this is closed for good. There’s still a good amount of apparel left but barely much for the other departments. It’s sad to see these Kmarts all closing up like this, especially when I had childhood memories of going to the old one in Parsippany, NJ in Troy Hills Plaza and the relocated one in Arlington Plaza in the same town.

Love those large ceiling air vents
Yeah, it's too bad these old school Kmart stores never got renovated. They were stuck behind the times and never adjusted to the new retailer era.
Great great great video. 1 of 177 Kmarts that I visited in the past two years.
Thanks bud and that's amazing that you been to that many Kmarts. You should be called the Kmart Guy lol
It amazing that kmart never updated there stores and it's like stepping back in time.
It truly does look like that, they never really adapted to the new era of retail. That's one of the reasons of their downfall, sadly
Is THAT why the shelves are all 5 feet tall, and you can see end-to-end in the store? What about that red/turquoise sign on its awning, I'm surprised it's there! I'm also amazed how they don't have any UPC readers, and workers have to manually look at price labels, and punch in the numbers in the registers- guess that's why it take 6 hours to go through checkout, huh?
This is sad. I miss the Kmarts, Sears and Bradlees stores. And in the 70’s we had good ole Two Guys which was similar. So much good shopping and memories.
I agree, there were so many department stores to shop from. Now, you only have stupid Walmart, Target, Big Lots and a couple others. I miss my childhood :(
@@TimurD1905 Yup it’s as if one’s childhood is being ripped apart piece by piece. I pray this pandemic will end so that the process of rebuilding can start once again.
2:07 I believe that’s where they had all the Kenmore appliances
Yeah, you could be right. I never went to this Kmart prior to it closing down to its last days
I’VE BEEN THERE BEFORE TOO, BUT THE ITEMS WERE OPPOSITE, THE CLOTHES ARE ON LEFT THE HOME DECOR WERE ON THE RIGHT BUT IT’S DIFFERENT FROM US FROM THE ONE IN BELLEVILLE
I usually see all the apparel in the middle of the store but other departments are scattered around the perimeters in different Kmarts. And most of the Big Kmarts have Little Caesar's Pizza with it by the entrance on the right side
Great video Timur. What part of Turkey is your family from?
I am from the southwest side of Turkey, Konya Province. You probably figured I was Turkish cause of my name right? Lol dead giveaway
@@TimurD1905 Yes!
@@TimurD1905 I think in one video you talked about traveling to Turkey too. 🙂
@@nooneatall1784 Yeah, it was the video I filmed when I was at the abandoned Bradlees in Hazlet, NJ. That was my first ever video of doing these abandoned/closed retail and other stuff.
@@TimurD1905 Oh no way! That's awesome. I'm so glad you continue to do this😀.
I feel the Kenmore brand would sell in another company too just like the craftsman tools
Yeah, they should consider making that into another store maybe. Idk if they can do that though
I remember that Modells too
I miss Modells, there was one in Parsippany that I used to go to with my brother. We would always buy soccer gear from there. I filmed that one already if you wanna check that out
My childhood Kmart too
And now it's closed, I filmed it while it was closed for good this morning
Wait, they had 2 in Parsippany? I only Knew of the one near ShopRite where Bradlees was.
Yeah they actually had one a longgg time ago in the Troy Hills Plaza. They closed way back in 1999 and then relocated in Arlington Plaza not too far away down Route 46. The Kmart in Troy Hills Plaza would then turn into Toys R Us, AC Moore and then LA Fitness and they just changed the name to Esporta Fitness. It’s crazy how much changed in that plaza over the years
@@TimurD1905 Oh wow! Isn't that where Pathmark used to be? They had a 5 guys burgers there when I last past through that area around 2012. Thanks for the insight! There was a Harolds deli in the HOLIDAY Inn across from Kmart which had some huge sandwiches but I heard they closed.
@@jackwilliams5223 Yeah there used to be a Pathmark, CompUsa, Odd Jobs, Radio Shack and some other stores that closed down a long time ago in the Troy Hills Plaza. And yeah that deli closed a long time ago I think. There's a Cuban restaurant there now
@@TimurD1905 Oh wow that's awesome! There was A Bar called In Crowd that opened at 7 AM on Sun. Mornings. My wife and I worked Nights so we would stop there in Mornings to get Beer after work!
@@jackwilliams5223 Oh cool
They really added on more stores in Kearny
Yeah, it looks nice there. It looks more modern and appealing for customers to shop at or whatever. Newark needs to do something like that
@@TimurD1905 can you do the Shoprite on Passaic Ave?
@@chadsheppard3576 I don't like filming in crowded areas, I'm sorry. If it's completely closed/abandoned, I can film it for you. I just don't go to certain areas where it's not safe for me to film, you know what I mean?
@@TimurD1905 true
Watching these Kmart videos makes me miss my Kmart a lot more though i'm secretly against them
I would be more against the leadership of Eddie and the other idiot guy lol.
@@TimurD1905 yeah Chuck Conaway/Mark Schwartz and Eddie Lampert
@@TimurD1905 it's funny how Kmart in Australia is still opening stores while we are closing stores here in America
@@DalmationProductions Maybe it's the people idk. But are they really opening up new Kmarts in Australia? Kind of strange to me
@@TimurD1905 yeah Target in Australia is being converted into Kmarts there in Australia
This Kmart was always busy too
I figured, since it's right next to Newark.
@@TimurD1905 my hometown
@@chadsheppard3576 Cool man
The last Kmart standing in new jersey will closing it's doors for last time next month.
Which one?
@@rl8429 He probably means "this Kmart standing" lol. Cause there is another one closing in Belleville and the other two are still not closing yet in Westwood and Avenel, NJ
@@rl8429 Kmart meant, NJ
@@matthewcampbell7985 I'm a little confused on the "last" part, since two Kmarts in NJ haven't announced closure yet.
I find it kinda funny, that when this guy films a Kmart video, nobody is even in the store. It’s like nobody is running the store. 😂
That's cause Kmart is a dead store nowadays and I also came right when the store opened lol
@@TimurD1905 Oh how sad, Anyway Awesome video man. 🙂
I live in New Jersey Newark
Oh that's cool
I wish all of these Kmarts would closed already these stores are so outdated no wonder why people don't go there anymore
Yeah and they rather go to dumb Walmart, which isn't that much great either. I would wanna go to Target though, that store looks cleaner and they keep their merchandise in a neat order
It's not even outdated in a good way, either.
@@nooneatall1784 And most of the old school Kmarts like this one never really updated the design of the outside of the building. It doesn’t really draw people to come in and buy stuff, just my opinion
it is car knee it pronouned car knee
Thanks, well now I know haha
