    I wish I had such a problem. I envy your wife that stove. My OKM is only a single oven 35 inch.

      She looked for 45+ years for this one. Our previous OKM was just like yours. Its all good, glad you have one, it makes me smile. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    Looks like you spent a lifetime as an engineer. Thanks for these great ideas. I have a 600LB coal stove I need to move and this helps a lot.

    I own several apartment houses with antique stoves. One of the units has an OKM stove like yours in it. We had to get it out to have new floor covering installed. I called J.E.S. Enterrprises, Inc./Antique Stoves on the web. They are in southern California and have assisted me in keeping all of the stoves we have running for decades. They specialize in parts, service and information on antique ranges. They said they have used a Roll or Kari Dolly for over a half century. I never heard of it but I contacted a piano moving company that rented me theirs for a few hours. WOW...it was so easy to move the stove and a big upright freezer I could not believe it. Without that tip I think we would have broke our backs moving such big item. Tools like this make everything so much easier. I like your idea too. Whatever works, right?

    You need a Crain air lifter (look it up) that uses two air powered panels hooked to a small 2 HP pump. Look at flooring supply stores or Amazon. Cost roughly $500, but you may be able to rent one. Slick as snot on a door knob!

      Thanks. Hope you'll think about using your car jack too in the future.

    OMG! Awesome job! I was thinking you would use a floor jack, which is what I used a few times to get my stoves unto those HF furniture dollies. Nice to know those screw car jacks work nicely, too.

      Definitely considered a floor jack and a 2x4. I didn't have one and I didn't know how low they go. Harbor Freight has one with wings would probably work out of the box, but it wasn't in stock and I didn't need something else in my garage. I had all the other stuff handy and made do. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    New improved/old reliable and repairable --- A1950s building has a working WesternHolly gas countertop and wall-mounted oven circa 1953 Still working after 48 years of service, made in America.
    New and improved! I help a fellow from time to time who has four apartment buildings to maintain, between the buildings they have purchased numerous new stoves with microprocessors There is so light & cheaply made that you have to bolt them to the wall for fear that when you slide a roast out on an oven rack the stove will tip over. To add insult to injury of 4 out of 8 stove failing after less than two years, if that's not bad enough the repair costs for parts and labor is about the same as buying a new stove.

    What an amazing find! You are one heck of a husband for indulging your wife's dream of owning one of these. I have my eye on a Frigidaire Flaire but my husband is so not on board. Any chance you could give him a call? lol

    Hi! Yeah, I 2nd all the praise of other posts. Did you have any issue with the steel beam tilting to one end or the other during jacking? Did you do anything special to get over doorway thresholds? I'm totally going to use your plan when I find my antique oven, and your plan makes the logistics of it possible for me.

    • @CraigHollabaugh
      @CraigHollabaugh  Рік тому

      No, my stove's center of mass is fairly centered, so jacking up was easy, no tilting. As for the thresholds, my furniture dollies have 3in wheels, which isn't too large. You will have to carefully get over your transitions. Just make sure when you cut your square tubing, it contacts only your stove's frame, not the porcelain covered sides. The sides are decorative and won't support the weight. In my video I removed the front kick panel revealing the frame. Good luck.

    I am picking one of these beasts up later this week. Do you mind asking where you strapped your stove down during transport?

      Sorry to say but I don't know. We had a small moving company move to our house. Congratulations and good luck!
