What is time?

Seconds, days, years and centuries. Humans have invented a way to clasify time, in order of how much it lasts. But this way of counting time... is it universal? It is the same for every living being? Do we feel it all the same or is it something completely subjective? And the most important of all... what is this thing, which is the nature of time?
