You would be using a standard XLR male to female cable, with the male end connected to the MVi, and the female end connected to the SM58. 2) Yes, I can confirm that the MVi can record audio from the SM58 (or any compatible mic) while using the standard iPhone Camera app. Thanks for asking!

I recorded video today using the Motiv Video app, as well as the stock Camera app on my phone. The audio for the video was captured by my SM58 mic and the MVi. Audio + video playback was smooth, after recording. And the audio was in sync with the video.

And. If I want to travel with it, I can’t take my computer with me. Much less run it into my Phone. At the same time

The MVi is a bus-powered interface, meaning it is meant to be powered by a computer (as you mentioned), or by an iOS or Android device. I recorded this video using the MVi with an iPhone. I have also used the MVi with a Galaxy Note 10+ phone, and my laptop. All 3 devices have powered the MVi successfully.
Yes, it is possible to charge an iPhone while using the MVi. With wireless charging. I tested this with the MVi connected to the lightning port of an iPhone 13 Pro Max. The phone was set on top of a wireless charger. The phone was charging, and all MVi functions worked as they should during the test.
