    I recently purchased id24 mkii Interface was working fine for couple of days but then i started getting latency on input monitoring and i recorded my vocals without monitoring it and then all of a sudden when i played my recording it starts to glitch stops giving the sound for every 2 or 3 seconds and no matter how much i increases the buffer size it's still doing that and i also switch the project but still no luck. Anyone knows about this issue I'm using cubase 12 pro on Windows 11

    What settings are you using on the zoom f1 for recording live bands

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 5 місяців тому

      My audio format for this type of scenario is 24-bit, 48kHz WAV. I use the EXH-6 in this case to ideally get a feed of the same stereo mix the audience is listening to, via a connection from the mixing board at the event. From there I turn up the gain knobs on the EXH-6 and aim to get the F1 meters hovering around -12 to -9 (middle to middle-high on the F1 meters). It is certainly possible that you will have to engage the pad if the stereo feed from the mixer is coming in too loud before you even really start turning up the EXH-6 gain. To do this, you would flick the switch next to the EXH-6 gain knobs from the "0" position to the "-20" position. I had to engage the pad for the performance recording in this video, for example.

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 5 місяців тому

      @@kreative-tv Nice, I hope the info helps. If that's the case, you will likely also need to set a level going into your camcorder. This can be done by turning the level of your headphone output on the F1 up or down as needed. Your camcorder should have an audio meter display. The same general workflow should apply here. Aim to have the meter hovering/averaging around the middle of the meter. If done properly, you should get a healthy level that is not clipping/digitally distorting.

    • @ninesixindie

      I checked out "Hotel California". It doesn't sound bad, considering that you're probably using the shotgun mic that comes with the F1-SP or the lav/clip-on mic that comes with the F1-LP. Those mics are good budget mics. But making friends with the front-of-house engineer and getting a mixer feed straight from the board can sound like the mix you're hearing right at the event. Even if you just give the engineer your F1 for a bit to stay on their tech table capturing a recording, then sync that recording up in post. If that's not possible then a more professional/expensive shotgun mic may help. But even so... If I'm recording a video of a live show, I want a mixer feed all the way. The front-of-house mixer is where the best show audio (what the audience hears) comes from.

    Hi, good demo, I have only one extended question: will the native 3,5 input of the f1 disable when connecting to an EXH-6? Best

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 5 місяців тому

      Hi, thank you. I appreciate your comment and question. I ran a test today with the Zoom lavalier/clip-on mic, and 2 Shure SM58 mics. Yes, the 3.5mm input is immediately disabled/bypassed as soon as the EXH-6 is connected. At that point the clip-on/lavalier mic that is plugged into the 3.5mm input will not capture/pass any sound, and you cannot adjust the gain level for that mic. You would be using the EXH-6 inputs exclusively once it is connected. Whether you plug in 1 mic or 2 to the EXH-6.

For the iD4 MKII - I haven't used the mixer much at all, since it is a loopback mixer (it serves a different purpose than what is shown in this video). I use the "Monitor Mix" knob on the iD4 MKII, and the right-click (bottom right "iD" logo in Windows) menu options to configure that interface.

You would then need to mute your input channel in your recording software (Pro Tools, in my case). At least while actively recording takes. This is so you're not hearing the direct input from the iD software combined with the delayed input from your recording software.

    With xlr capsule zoom f1 sp support condencer microphone?

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 2 роки тому

      Thank you for your question. No. The Zoom F1-SP in combination with the EXH-6 does not support/work with standard condenser mics. This is because these particular Zoom devices do not supply phantom power, which is required to operate condenser mics. There are battery-powered condenser mics out there that would work, since they would have their own power supply. You could then connect to the Zoom F1, EXH-6 for recording purposes. However, I have not personally used a battery-powered condenser mic up to this point, and do not have any specific mics to recommend at this time.

      Hi, thank you for your question. What is it that you are looking to accomplish, that you are having trouble with? Does the interface not power on when trying to use it with your phone? The MVi is a bus-powered interface, meaning it is meant to be powered by a computer (as you mentioned), or by an iOS or Android device. I recorded this video using the MVi with an iPhone. I have also used the MVi with a Galaxy Note 10+ phone, and my laptop. All 3 devices have powered the MVi successfully.

      Hi, thank you for your question. Before setting the gain on your F1, please 1st ensure that you are feeding proper levels/audio signal to whichever mixer output/s you have connected to the Zoom F1. My initial suggested F1 settings for connecting to a mixer are: 1) Record format 16-bit, 44.1kHz, WAV 2) Have the -20dB pad switches on the front of the EXH-6 in the "on" position (pushed to the right-hand side) 3) Begin with the EXH-6 gain knobs turned all the way down (in the "0" position). Either play music through the mixer, or speak into a mic that's connected to the mixer while slowly turning the EXH-6 gain knobs to increase your gain level. Do this until you are happy with the level/sound you are getting on the F1. Please do let me know if this helps, or if you need further assistance.

      If you are willing to go to these lengths, you can get yourself an Inline Phantom power adapter, some are small enough that you can use it on location!

    hi, beside the EXH-6 capsule & cable for SM58/57, is there any extra adapter you plugged in? can you record two XLR mic without problem or interference? do you have the mean to compare audio quality to other recorders like Zoom H4N, H5, H6 etc? thank you

      @ninesixindie 3 роки тому

      Hi, and thank you for your questions. -Yes, it's possible to record 2 independent XLR mics without issue. I recorded this demo with just the 2 mics plugged into the EXH-6 via standard XLR cables. -Unfortunately I do not currently own the other Zoom field recorders you mentioned, and I'm not sure if/when I would have such access to them.

      @@ninesixindie thanks for the reply. What if i just connected to one XLR. will it record stereo file? i'm looking for cheap solution to connect the SM58 but im still very blur. do we need phantom power for SM58?

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 3 роки тому

      @zogun It depends on what recorder you're using. If using the EXH-6 with the F1, the recording will be a stereo file, with the audio being on either the left or right channel depending on what EXH-6 channel you're plugged into. You can then split the stereo file into mono in your audio editing program of choice. If using the EXH-6 with the Zoom F4 (as another example), you can choose to record mono files with the EXH-6. You do not need phantom power to operate the SM58.

    i only need 1XLR input for my sennheiser mke600 mic, do i need to buy that adapter or can i connect the XLR without that adapter to the F1? And another question can i connect the F1 directly to my Dslr or is this not possible i have no clue about these devices.

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 3 роки тому

      1) If you need even just 1 XLR input when using the F1, you would also need the EXH-6 adapter. By default the F1 only has a 3.5mm mic input. 2) So long as your DSLR has a working 3.5mm mic input... It is possible to connect the F1 directly to your camera by connecting a 3.5mm TRS cable from the headphone output of the F1, to the mic input of the camera. There is a Zoom video on YT that demonstrates this process. Please note, however, that according to the folks at Zoom... It is possible for plug-in power from a camera mic input jack to damage the F1. I personally have only ever recorded directly to the F1, and then I sync the audio to video in post.

      @@christopht.4403 Hello, thank you for asking. I got this info from UA-cam. Comment section of a Zoom video titled "Zoom F1-SP: Connecting To Your Camera / Setting Levels". In response to a question from user PROTOMAN247, Zoom rep John Molfetas replied... "It is possible that you could damage the F1 by inputting plug-in power to the headphone output". Another note from my experience is that some cameras enable you to turn off plug-in power, at which point I would personally feel safer using the F1 in this manner. I hope this info helps.

    does the EXH-6 record multi-track with the Zoom F1? I've been thinking of getting the Zoom F1-SP for rigging on my camera rather than getting the Zoom H5

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie 3 роки тому

      The short answer is yes. Just know that by default, the Zoom F1 will record a stereo file with mic 1 on channel 1 (left), and mic 2 on channel 2 (right). You can then (in post) split the stereo file into 2 separate mono files using your audio editing software of choice... Which is what I did for this episode.

    • @ninesixindie
      @ninesixindie Рік тому

      @@seanwebb605 It comes out clean. No crossover on account of the Zoom F1/EXH-6. The only crossover/bleed that you will encounter is normal mic bleed that happens anytime 2 mics are recording in close proximity to each other.
