One thing you can say about Pimax is that the HMD is full featured. Eye traccking at the driver level is amazing work, Good job to the engineers and Pitool devs.
Dear Martin, you really did an awsome work with the coding of the VR Environment & GUI for Pimax ! Thank you for your passion to make the software better and more user friendly. I am sure that all the Pimax VR headset owners will be very thankfull. I do not own a Pimax headset yet, but i am saving some money and i definatly want to buy the 8K X in 2021 ( including a 10 meter cable ). Until then i think everything will be optimized and running well, so that the experience with Pimax 8K X will be the best. Until then i play VR games with my old Lenovo Explorer ( first generation Windows Mixed Reality headset ;-) which i bought for cheap 400 Euro 2 years ago ) The only serious thing which still has to be solved with the Pimax VR Headsets are the ugly distortions at the edges of the lenses which have been reported by many many people who tested the Pimax wide field of view setting ( more than 170 degres setting ). This should be the next task on Pimaxes development plan. Until then 150 degrees FOV will do it too, but its sad that the full potential of the headset is unused right now because of the distortions, but i am sure your Pimax developers will solve this issue soon ( may be the Headset needs a new variant of lenses ? ) . The 8KX is really something else when it comes to visual quality and FOV, and now even the audio is awesome. Now, as for distortions, I must personally say its an issue which stranegly enough have been overblown for no reason. As I have met hundreds and hundreds of people during events and exhibitions, almost nobody is seeing distortions. Some very few people report it, especially a few UA-camrs, and somehow it becomes a comon practice that Pimax has distortions, which is not correct. Either way, the risk that you see distortions is minimal, so you shouldnt worry. Most of the problems can also be solved by correcting your IPD or using the new Comfort Kit and new thin face foam. I will cover this topic more in my upcoming videos, so stay tuned! Thanks
When Your Eyes 3mm vor the Glases and the Distortions to many, then you need more klett back the foam material from the Conford Kit, for more mm with your Eyes to the glases. Ha sorry, Du kannst ja Deutsch. Wenn Du zuviel Verzerrungen hast, dann sind wohl die Pupillen direkt wenige mm am Glas, so das an den Seiten das Licht zu strark bricht. Die Software gleicht zwar Verzerrungen aus aber dann muss der Augenanstand genau auf die Software korrektur passen, ist das nicht derfall kann ein zusättlicher Klett direkt am klett der Pimax angebracht werden, wo man dann den schaumstoff des Konford kits anklettet, so dass die Augen mehr abstand zum Glass kriegen bis es passt. Diese klettbänder sind in jedem Baumarkt für wenige Euro zu kriegen.

Quick question. If you bought the next generation 3080 TI (when released!) would you be able to run Pimax 8KX at above the 75 refresh rate? Or is it locked to 75 in native mode no matter how much power you have?
Currently the native 4K resolution supports 75Hz, whiel upscale mode supports up to 120Hz on 8KX. The GPU doesnt matter, its all about a bandwidth issue over DisplayPort. There might be a chance we can increase the Hz ust like we did with 5K+ and other headsets, but no promises yet.

I ordered the Modular Audio Head Strap (Standard audio version) and Comfort kit around November time for use with the 5k plus. Initially I thought it would have been delivered within a month. Are you now saying the Standard audio version is not supported by the 5k plus? If so what I should i do? Martin, keep up the good work. Without you I would have given up on Pimax a long time ago. Superb technology but overstretch on ideas and sell products with misleading delivery dates. Still, I haven't lost faith in Pimax just yet but almost! You can do it!
Has the problem of distortion stretching around the edges been solved yet? What kind of eye pieces are being used now. Is the headset comfortable for eyeglass wearers? ^^
Since Assetto Corsa does not support Foveted Rendering and is only running on DirectX11, what Racing Sim would you recommend for a 2080Ti with an average CPU such as an INTEL 6800K (only 6-cores) ?
We might see that in upcoming models, but as the DP2.0 interface was not possible to implement at the time of 8KX development, we did not want to delay the 8KX even more just because of DP2.0. So for not, its DP1.4 and in future we might see new 8KX models with higher refreshrates (nothing promised or announced yet though, as we want to put all efforts on our current models for now),.

As we mention in the show, we have NOT cancelled the Sword/Sword Sense development, but we put it on-hold until we are finished with DMAS/KDMAS. We will put full efforts into the controller development now during the summer again.
What is the difference between the DMAS & KDMAS? Do I understand it correctly KDMAS is only for use on the old headsets. The DMAS is for the new headsets. Is it correct the headphones are the same on both?

I have an 8KX on order, but my concern is that the 8KX. Will the MAS allow the headphones to mov out from you ears? On the Vive mode for the PIMAX5k+ you could move the headphone out away from your ears, while putting them out from your ears.
once placed on your head and comfortable, you move the earphones to your ears. I'm assuming it will match or exceed what was offered by the existing mods.
It's a very cool headset but i don't know if going for higher and higher resolution is doing any better. Xtal did oled with lower res and has probably the same sde, so you don't need a 3080ti to play on this thing... After all I'm very happy that Pimax exist, we need companies that are trying to push the boundaries. Good work and keep improving!

Cant wait for my 8k X Deluxe and Eye tracking. All for the best on the Sword Sense controllers. I do hope you guys pick good quality joysticks for them, so they last as they should be than the Index ones. That way we wouldnt experience drifting, thumbstick click issues. ^-^
Any idea if we can use the $100 coupon from downgrading from the 8K to 5K+ for the eyetracking because that was my initial plan and I really prefer to do that
First question: How is the schedule plan for shipping? How many bakers are awaiting the 8kx and how many pre-orderers are still awaiting? And how many 8kx are still produced in the meantime? As a pre-orderer (for the second time after the 5K+) I feel like a „second-class“ baker. Although as a pre-orderer I certainly spend more money to pimax and always in advance. When we pre orderers will get our well payed headset?
We aim to have around 600 units ready during July. As soon as X backers are fulfilled, then we start with fulfilling backer-upgrades to 8KX, and followed by all pre-orders, most likely in August
@SweViver I really need that thinner comfort kit facepad. When will it be available in the pimax store? And when are the DAS being shipped for 8Kplus owners that opted for the DAS?
We are first sending it with 8KX boxes, but once the production catches up, we will offer it in the store. Should be in July or August. We are also discussing the possibility to add it into the Comfort Kit bundle on default. First, the SMAS will be sent with 8KX, and soon also and 8K+. We just need a few more weeks to scale up the production even further, which is happening rapidly right now.
One question: WARRANTY?! I am sure quite a few of us have not taken the 5K+ out of the box since we received it. Probably just taken it out once to test the image quality. However since we dont have base stations, we havent been able to properly use these;, or even controllers to use. The headsets been packed in their box for over a year now cos we've been waiting for the base stations and controllers and we havent opted out of the stretch goals. So what happens if and when we receive out base stations, I know some will wait for their controllers as well; What happens if the headset develops a fault a month after taking it back out? Or 8 months later?! Cos they are no longer under warranty! It's not our fault we have not been able to use the headsets cos of the delays. The 5K+ was pushed onto us by yourself and MRTV And Pimax instead of concentrating on releasing their original products, branched out into so many different iterations! So many it's hard to keep track of them any more! So unless warranty is extended, some of us could potentially have just bought an expensive paperweight!
I personally have the housing for my pimax 5k cracking I hope they have fixed it with the new materials on the newer pimax headsets. Also Rip to my cable aswell with dots on the screen appearing.
I just bought another cable on Amazon, I am on my 3rd one now. First was snowy out of the box, second got snowy after about a year of use, 3rd seems to be working good for now. I have been lucky with the cracks though I think they might be due to temp changes. Mine has not cracked other than a small corner where I smacked it into something pretty hard. Hopefully the new housings are more durable though.
There is not a single unit with cracks since we changed the materials and also the RE housing, thats for sure. I suggest you contact our support team, and we can arrange replacements for you!

Thats correct. We will announce later this week how we will handle the $100 you paid for the DMAS (As you apparently dont need it anymore?) Although, if you have seen the following Q&A video, we mention that KDMAS will have ear-cups and on-ear design, while DMAS is off-ear like Valve Index. So these are a little different in design, although very similar audio quality

You mean 8KX backers? Thats the almost 400 backers who originally backed the 8KX plan. But all "backers" mentioned are the people who backed Pimax during the Kickstarter phase.

Speaking of which I'd love to see an hour long talk that isnt mostly just "upgrade plans, coupons, rewards, backers ect..." but an hour just getting into the nitty gritty of the technology, thats the cool interesting stuff. I have a feeling so many people are mis informed is because nobody talks about the tech, everyone just assunes you need 4 titans rtx cards to run it and if you can hit the tefresh rate its a stuttery mess ect... Nobody undetstands how its actually fine to not hit the native res or refresh rates, just so much misinformation being spread around.
As PimaxUSA said, the utilization is greatly improved with the 8KX, as the panels are smaller and new distortion profiles has been made for 8K+ and 8KX.

this 8kx seems to be a work in progress and so isnt worth a ludicrous $1800...... grossly over priced,with the distorted fov and stretching/warping of the image the asking price shouldnt be more then $800 complete with trackers. even if the image was perfect it shouldn't cost more then $1200 complete...there's a reason other manufactures isnt offering vr with such a wide fov.....its not possible yet ..not without the flaws and distortion that come along with it

Have to respond to Nordic's ( the CEO's ) statement: Sorry to save you have learned nothing. Today the "preorder" button for the 8K X doesn't work if you click it and is disabled, while other pages show "sold out" with no messaging, no clear ETAs on expected shipping time frames. When we contact support, we get replies saying "sorry, we can't give any estimate". "Now shipping" is nowhere near good or transparent enough. You are the EXACT OPPOSITE of transparent and have clearly learned nothing as of this date. All we have ever asked for is transparency. It's not complicated. We can't even pre-order. How frustrating / infuriating. It's a joke really. And the community laughs at you, I'm sorry to report. Not once, since the very first Kickstarter, has the company ever made clear when orders will ship if you buy the flagship product today. Their ask: Pre-order now and pray to your god, you are at our whim / mercy .. or Order now and pray you receive it in a timely manner. There are reports of some people receiving non-pre-ordered goods within weeks which is good, while many others report horror stories of months and years. We can't know the true percentages, but one thing is very clear: * This company still cannot be trusted as they are still not transparent If you simply gave us a very rough ETA on when the 8K X would ship if we ordered ( based on the queue today ), and then if needed send email adjustments if things change, we would be happy. My Games doesn’t see the 8k HMD. The vr experience will start the game but the game doesn’t see the headset. Can you help?

As an 8KX backer, I hope the quality is better than my loaner 5K+. That headset housing was literally cracking at the edges after three gentle uses.

As we mention in the show, we have NOT cancelled the Sword/Sword Sense development, but we put it on-hold until we are finished with DMAS/KDMAS. We will put full efforts into the controller development now during the summer again.
What is the difference between the DMAS & KDMAS? Do I understand it correctly KDMAS is only for use on the old headsets. The DMAS is for the new headsets. Is it correct the headphones are the same on both?

The KDMAS is very similar to the DMAS, but it will also be over-ear with ear-cups. And KDMAS supports the 5K+, old 8K, 5KXR and Artisan

I have an 8KX on order, but my concern is that the 8KX. Will the MAS allow the headphones to mov out from you ears? On the Vive mode for the PIMAX5k+ you could move the headphone out away from your ears, while putting them out from your ears.
once placed on your head and comfortable, you move the earphones to your ears. I'm assuming it will match or exceed what was offered by the existing mods.
BTY, I already love the PIMAX5k+ with the mods that allow the DAS stap to work. I'm hoping the MAS is equal to or better than that!!!
It's a very cool headset but i don't know if going for higher and higher resolution is doing any better. Xtal did oled with lower res and has probably the same sde, so you don't need a 3080ti to play on this thing... After all I'm very happy that Pimax exist, we need companies that are trying to push the boundaries. Good work and keep improving!
Would love to see a benchmark showing if eye tracking gets more frames in VRChat in a full room with lots of people with full body tracking

@SweViver I really need that thinner comfort kit facepad. When will it be available in the pimax store? And when are the DAS being shipped for 8Kplus owners that opted for the DAS?
We are first sending it with 8KX boxes, but once the production catches up, we will offer it in the store. Should be in July or August. We are also discussing the possibility to add it into the Comfort Kit bundle on default. First, the SMAS will be sent with 8KX, and soon also and 8K+. We just need a few more weeks to scale up the production even further, which is happening rapidly right now.

One question: WARRANTY?!
I am sure quite a few of us have not taken the 5K+ out of the box since we received it.
Probably just taken it out once to test the image quality.
However since we dont have base stations, we havent been able to properly use these;, or even controllers to use.
The headsets been packed in their box for over a year now cos we've been waiting for the base stations and controllers and we havent opted out of the stretch goals.
So what happens if and when we receive out base stations, I know some will wait for their controllers as well;
What happens if the headset develops a fault a month after taking it back out? Or 8 months later?!
Cos they are no longer under warranty!
It's not our fault we have not been able to use the headsets cos of the delays.
The 5K+ was pushed onto us by yourself and MRTV
And Pimax instead of concentrating on releasing their original products, branched out into so many different iterations!
So many it's hard to keep track of them any more!
So unless warranty is extended, some of us could potentially have just bought an expensive paperweight!
I personally have the housing for my pimax 5k cracking I hope they have fixed it with the new materials on the newer pimax headsets. Also Rip to my cable aswell with dots on the screen appearing.
I just bought another cable on Amazon, I am on my 3rd one now. First was snowy out of the box, second got snowy after about a year of use, 3rd seems to be working good for now. I have been lucky with the cracks though I think they might be due to temp changes. Mine has not cracked other than a small corner where I smacked it into something pretty hard. Hopefully the new housings are more durable though.
There is not a single unit with cracks since we changed the materials and also the RE housing, thats for sure.

Thats correct. We will announce later this week how we will handle the $100 you paid for the DMAS (As you apparently dont need it anymore?) Although, if you have seen the following Q&A video, we mention that KDMAS will have ear-cups and on-ear design, while DMAS is off-ear like Valve Index. So these are a little different in design, although very similar audio quality

You mean 8KX backers? Thats the almost 400 backers who originally backed the 8KX plan.

What about countries that are not allowed to receive valve products,now what happens to our base stations that we supposed to get from kick starter?
We are currently discussing this with Valve. Of course if Valve doesnt allow us to send to specific countries, then we need to follow their guidelines. So we might need to find a way to solve that together... we will update you regarding this very soon!

Our research shows that 1 out of 20 people see some kind of distortion. Really not an issue

The screen utilization on the 8kX is about ~94%. Much higher than our 5k+.

As PimaxUSA said, the utilization is greatly improved with the 8KX, as the panels are smaller and new distortion profiles has been made for 8K+ and 8KX.

This Pimax Day, we hope much better than the others, should be in Pimax web and not in a youtuber channel. I know that Sweviver works for Pimax but we are promoting this channel that isn't Pimax one. Quite confusing. This mixing doesn't help to have acurate and real information. It looks like: Sweviver, say what we want. We've had much misleading information for months. We want real updates with ready products and real shipment dates.

this 8kx seems to be a work in progress and so isnt worth a ludicrous $1800...... grossly over priced,with the distorted fov and stretching/warping of the image the asking price shouldnt be more then $800 complete with trackers. even if the image was perfect it shouldn't cost more then $1200 complete...there's a reason other manufactures isnt offering vr with such a wide fov.....its not possible yet ..not without the flaws and distortion that come along with it

Have to respond to Nordic's ( the CEO's ) statement: Sorry to save you have learned nothing. Today the "preorder" button for the 8K X doesn't work if you click it and is disabled, while other pages show "sold out" with no messaging, no clear ETAs on expected shipping time frames. When we contact support, we get replies saying "sorry, we can't give any estimate". "Now shipping" is nowhere near good or transparent enough. You are the EXACT OPPOSITE of transparent and have clearly learned nothing as of this date. All we have ever asked for is transparency. It's not complicated. We can't even pre-order. How frustrating / infuriating. It's a joke really. And the community laughs at you, I'm sorry to report.
Not once, since the very first Kickstarter, has the company ever made clear when orders will ship if you buy the flagship product today. Their ask: Pre-order now and pray to your god, you are at our whim / mercy .. or Order now and pray you receive it in a timely manner. There are reports of some people receiving non-pre-ordered goods within weeks which is good, while many others report horror stories of months and years. We can't know the true percentages, but one thing is very clear:
* This company still cannot be trusted as they are still not transparent
If you simply gave us a very rough ETA on when the 8K X would ship if we ordered ( based on the queue today ), and then if needed send email adjustments if things change, we would be happy.

Here's the key miss: It does NOT matter when you ship. What matters is CLARITY! We understand long timeframes for new technology. We're 100% fine if you need to delay to get it perfect.
