Awesome content! It's cool to see some of the older battles, although some more medieval era ones would be very entertaining to me. Keep it up though, these videos are amazing!
It's a lot of work but I love making these videos. The pity is not being able to dedicate myself full time to this and having to combine it with a job outside the home. If it wasn't for this I would make weekly videos... Thank you very much for your comment 😉.
"Barely a year ago. Long have I wondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. Time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his three hundred, so far from home, laid down their lives. Not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds. Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea, XERXES' HORDES FACE OBLITERATION!" *"HAOOH! HAOOH! HAOOH!"* "Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers... knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of three hundred. Yet they stare now across the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 free Greeks! HAOOH!" *"HAOOH! HAOOH! HAOOH!"* "The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one, good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine. Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! TO VICTORY!"
Thanks Maximilian! That is exactly the speech of Dilios in the scene at the end of the movie 300 where the battle of Plataea begins. It's a shame they didn't make a third part where the battle took place, because it was the most important of all.
@@historyforgamers It's still overshadowed by Marathon and Thermopylae somehow. Maybe the Greeks are not so proud about Greeks fighting other Greeks. There's nothing. No grand monument or not even a tablet remembering the victory. Of course it's still mentioned in the context of the Greco-Persian wars elsewhere but sadly nothing on the battlefield itself.
I thought that Plataea was more known, but it seems that this is not the case. I understand that The Battle of Thermopylae is known for what happened in it, but in terms of importance in the development of the war it had almost no relevance compared to Marathon, in the first invasion, and Plataea, in the second.
I'm glad you like them. I'm still making the next video, although during the summer it will take me a little longer. I have the battle of the Catalaunian Plains on my list and I will make a video for sure. Thank you!

This was excellent. I'm so glad to see so many interesting and impressive unit models - of course I prefer medieval history personally, but this era is also very interesting and it makes sense to delve into it with the new DLC. Quality is getting better and better, I admit I couldn't find any real flaws in this except perhaps the fortifications at the end, probably should've used a trigger to break them in chunks to make more opening gaps rather than just, see the units slide in one at a time, that was pretty funny.
Great video :) A small suggestion - usage of hero units for commanders would be a great addition. Would bring more focus to them, plus killing them off would be easy for viewers to see that the general was killed off. For example, at 8:50 Mardonius could've been a hero unit that was killed. Same for the other general that was killed earlier
You are absolutely right, in most of the previous videos I did it as you say. The problem is that I used a hero unit type like one of the Persian horseman types and had to use a mod to hide the aura. Since the aura was not going to be seen and the heroes were not going to stand out in the end, I decided not to let them appear in the video. I couldn't think of any other way to do it...
@@randomass9617 Because I used a heroic type unit (the javelin cavalry) to represent 60 Persian units and I needed to remove the aura from all of them.

Yes, I try to show something more of the background of the battle, especially what happened before in order to put it in context. Thank you very much Alhan!
The battle that ended the second Persian invasion of Greece. The Spartan charge on Plataea comes right at the end of the movie 300: Rise of an Empire. I was hesitating whether to do the battle of Marathon or Plataea and I chose Plataea, but I will do both for sure.
Muchas gracias Sebastian!
i could SWEAR i subbed to you 3 times, but youtube keeps unsubscribing me every time i think. if you can, i think you should practice narrating the videos yourselves, a human voice is always more attractive for viewers! also, i think a little more information that allows viewers to exactly map out what happened would be great! for example, where exactly on the map did these events take place? who is darius or xerxes, which ethnicity did persia belong to at that time? why was persia even invading greece? etc. thanks for making the videos
I agree, a bit more context would be better and hopefully it wont make the production harder. This channel knows the importance of each second and everything is super optimized, yet relaxing a bit and adding stories without too much hassle could be better. ❤

I see. In that case, you could've just used Genetours for the spear throwing horsemen right? why use a hero unit?
In the Romae ad Bellum mod that unit no longer exists and the only javelin cavalry was the heroic one.
