  • Street Glide vs Road Glide. Today we are testing the Harley Davidson Street Glide back to back with the Road Glide. This is a first impressions video courtesy of the Harley Davidson Experience.
    I've had a think since recording video and I'm going to say, I actually prefer the Road Glide, firstly for the looks and secondly because of the dashboard, feels much more premium for me.
    Let me know which you prefer in the comments.

    Let me know which bike you prefer? Mine is the Road Glide (yes I changed my mind), shows how close they are to each other!

    Great video! I don't imagine the Harley riding community across the pond is quite as big as it is here in the US, especially in the Midwest. Sportbikes used to dominate in California, but I think the movement has switched to the big baggers in recent years.
    I just bought a 2024 Road Glide. I've been riding liter and 600 cc sportbikes for the past 26 years. I've had a Ducati 1098 and a Multistrada, GSXR 1000, GSXR 600, a 2021 S1000RR with the M package, so switching to a big bagger was quite an adjustment. I also used to have a 2018 Godlwing bagger and a 2019 BMW K1600B. Of the three baggers I've had, I like this Road Glide the most. The Goldwing handled the best at low speeds and the K1600B handled the best at high speeds and in the corners but it buffeted pretty bad at 90 mph and above. I also didn't like the BMW thumb-wheel controls to navigate the screens and infotainment system.
    I do wish the Road Glide had a reverse because it's a chore to move it around the driveway if there is any kind of an incline. Throttle response on the Glide is very abrupt at slow speeds in Road Mode, so I think I'll go into the custom ride mode and dial back the throttle response to something in between Rain and Road Modes. I can't imagine riding with 100% throttle response, that might be kind of scary with 130 ft-lbs of torque. One of the first things I'm going to change is to get some floorboards that allow me to put my feet back about a 1/2 inch or so to more of my natural riding position.

      Yeah I’m more into my sports bikes, but keen to build a collection of different bikes. Good choice mate, I enjoyed riding the Road Glide, I prefer the look too! Yeah I had a couple of times where I felt the throttle response was quite choppy! Hope you enjoy it man!

    Nice...you found Sport Mode! My Street Glide perks up rather nicely in Sport, but I use Road for most city city riding.

    I just bought the 2024 Street Glide (coming from the a 2015 Ultra Limited) and can relate to your chuckles while riding. It was an interesting hearing from the opinions from the other side of the pond. However, I kept wanting you to shift . Thanks for the video.

      Ah you lucky man lovely bike. Yeah I’m used to riding a bike that revs out to 14k+ so I was probably very ham fisted with it. I appreciate a lot of the power is low down on these. Out of interest, why did you pick the Street over the Road?

      @@sweet-triple-UK My prior bike was a Ultra Limited (same bat-wing firing) so that made an easy transition. As for Street Glide vs Road Glide - several reasons. First it LOOKS more like a the way cruising motorcycle should look (in my opinion). Next the Road Glide just reminds me of my old Honda Goldwing and Yamaha Venture Royale. The two bikes are close and someone once said - get the bike that makes you smile when you go to get on, and the Street Glide does that for me. Lastly, everyone over on this side of the pond is swarming to the Road Glides, and I like to be different.

      I went Street Glide because of the looks. Whiskey Fire and Black Chrome option reminds me of the bike I couldn't get 25 years ago.

    I own a 20 Street Glide Special and I love it. If you haven't already done it I would highly recommend replacing that piece of junk stock windshield with an aftermarket. You will really notice a difference how much better it keeps the wind off of your face

      @sweet-triple-UK  Місяць тому

      Yeah that would be the first thing I would do. I was surprised how much that big fairing didn’t keep me out of the wind blast!

    Neither as they are not my favorites models. More of a Roadking rider. First one was a 1997 and my last a 2020. Five in all and still have them.

    Point of speakers on your bike is to speak directions to you using Apple car play, and you can listen to music. You’re simple not accustomed to that style of riding. A little Black Sabbath thumping in your ears, twist that throttle in sports mode and let it rip.

    • @sweet-triple-UK
      @sweet-triple-UK  14 днів тому

      Bit of Back Sabbath or Led Zeppelin - Now you’re talking, I do have speakers in my helmet for that though that aren’t affected by the wind, engine and road noise🤷‍♂️. But yeah you are right maybe I’m not used to the Harley style of riding just yet relaxed cruise open face helmet at 50mph blaring the music.

    I'm just hoping Harley continues to try and appeal to the under 60 crowd. A middleweight version of the Pan Am, a more classic version of the Sportster, etc.
    No one I know is interested in a giant bagger.

    • @sweet-triple-UK
      @sweet-triple-UK  Місяць тому

      Yeah some of the bikes I saw there were defo more edgy and appealed more to me (I’m in my 30s) the Sportster s for example, or the Fat Bob

    • @brentharrington9235
      @brentharrington9235 Місяць тому

      @@sweet-triple-UK the sportster S imho is rather ugly. It's what I would expect an out of touch elder to design to appeal to the younger demographic.
      They need to look to Triumph, Indian, Moto Guzzi or even Suzuki to understand classic design.
      Same with the Fat Bob. They are trying to be ''futuristic' in their design. I appreciate them trying, but their designers are just out of touch.
