Lyrics:
Hide me in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I'll be in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I don't know if it is right to live this way, yeah
I'll be in the back room, tell me when it's over
People always say, "Man, at least you're on the radio"
#CageTheElephant #SocialCues #Rock
I'm 73 and I love this group. Wish I wasn't getting old. There's a lot of cool music out there. (Thanks for all the heartfelt replies ppl. You're the ppl that keep me young).
Awesome man!!
Get out and see them! One of the greatest LIVE!
My guy! We appreciate you
Keep livin' bro! You've made it this far!
Saw them in 2007 for the 1st time and they're were so energetic! Still love this band so much!
You have to see them Live at least once 😊
"People always sayin' man at least you're on the radio." What a great line that's extremely relatable. One's music being played on the radio is a brilliant metaphor for how feelings of depression, despair, and other bad feelings can persist and drag anyone down, no matter how objectively well off or seemingly successful they are "on paper."
Very true.
These guys only make pure gold. Never heard a song from them I dislike
I heard this song while being put on hold by T-Mobile. Having terrible service never sounded so good.
😂😂😂
Lmfaoo
It's like the psycho giving you an orgasms lol
@@leathalynn8745 😂😂
Lmaooooo no fuckint way
Heard this on the radio but the volume was low and all I heard was the guitar after he says “at least you’re on the radio” and that was enough to make me turn it all the way up. Love this song
I'm not sure I've heard them on the radio, but at least they're on the radio 😅. Jk, I really like this song.
The song is absolutely brilliant and very underrated. It has a very nostalgic feel to it ❤
DAAAAAAAAMN I MISS 2019 SO MUCH
same
Yep. I agree. The economy was great, we weren’t locking the country down and weren’t funding foreign wars. Hope you’ve learned from the experiment and are voting Trump 2024.
No wonder "Social Cues" has been nominated for a "Best Rock Album" Grammy. This song is outstanding with that bass line and steel guitar. The album is amazing!
I'm addicted to this song. So catchy - I keep humming along and I feel like dancing. Pure joy though the lyrics show pain. The guitar riffs and bass are incredible, as are the melody and chorus. It's now probably my favourite Cage The Elephant song.
I like to sing it walking down the streets. soooo up lifting, people might think Im talking to my self lol. if you cant dig this song you probably have no real taste in music Ha 2 bad 4 U.
It doesn’t sound happy at all??
@@nickfancher5157 Hey nick my name is Brandon Williams. Did you know jesus is the way the truth an the life an no one comes to the father except through him. Jesus is the only way to god = heaven🤗 john 3:16
@@nickfancher5157 All love this is my favorite song from this band bra
This song terrifies me. The good dont have to die young. The moral I think is how life isnt sometbing that can just be measured in length or happiness. Its a mix of both along with many more complexities. The song also partially gives survivors guilt vibes.
When the song is a banger but lyrics are actually quite sad.
sad songs that sound happy haha
"When you're happy you enjoy the music. When youre sad you listen to the lyrics"
That's CTE since Melophobia in a nutshell
Irwan Ahmed copacabana has entered the chat
Daniel B also holy crap i did that today
Man. This song is groove personified. The bass. The catchy hook. Stars
Cage never misses, every song is a hit. Your welcome for this wisdom
this is the most Cage The Elephant-sounding Cage The Elephant song ever
Son whaaaaaaat

No its not wtf
I will never get tired of this song- it’s a repeat after repeat kinda one
This song gives me a weird feeling of happiness and positivity, I think I'm obsessed with it
(After seeing the few responses i just wanna say that's my own interpretation, feeling the songs gives me. I know about the meaning of it, and that's what they are talented for and why i love music, giving positivity in songs where lyrics aren't suiting the vibe of it. We probably all experience music in various ways but please respect the perception anyone can have about it ♥).
I second that!
Bruh
Yeah right? Makes me physically feel like jumping around especially the I'll be in the back room part.
m.ua-cam.com/video/eimgRedLkkU/v-deo.html
The lyrics are so opposite of that tho
Cage The Elephant’s music has grown so much. Their adventures into different sounds is amazing to listen to
I never get tired of listening to the album. It's simply magnificent **chef's kiss** !!
Just entered the #1 spot on Billboard's Adult Alternative Chart for week of Oct. 5, 2019, while rising to #3 on the Alternative chart. Cage the Elephant has been consistently good, and this song really hits the spot with its psychedelic grooves! Love to see a video!
PLEASE PLAY THIS WHEN YALL COME TO TARGET CENTER!!
Been listening to this every day since April 19th. Sometimes several times. I love it even more now! It's a sad song but makes you feel happy, like there's joy despite the difficulty. The music lifts your spirits and makes you want to dance.
exactly.
You guys have no idea of how much time I've been searching for this song. Am I dead?
Me too m8 hahah
infortunately, yes
** unfortunately
Try asking Google what song this is when something is playing and it will tell you in like 5 seconds
Listen to New Rock 104.1, this song plays on that station all the time :D
Thank You 91.1 X San Diego for introducing me to this masterpiece. Listen to that intro: when I hear that bass line starting off at the beginning, my heart pounds faster. Now prepare to add up those keyboard notes lightly distorted, and finally enjoy that perfect voice on top. This is absolutely harmonious, a great step in the history of modern rock composition.
You have to love the saloon undertones this song has, totally western with a blend of rock and something quite rather mystical.
Social Cues just became Cage The Elephant's 9th #1 song on Billboard's Alternative chart! That's the most of any band this decade, and it was done without the aid of a video as the band was touring most of the summer. I love this song.
How do you know? Is that what you are saying true?
Back in the 90's this would be on the Pop Charts and only played on Pop based radio channels , In the 80's this would have been placed in the New Wave category. Still regardless this is good stuff.
this is one of the newer bands that I can really say have the "IT" factor! I'm not ashamed to say they're one of my new favorites. I'm glad I stumbled onto them
This never gets old, even on repeat...
Found this band approx 45 secs ago. Thank you god for the new music entering my ears. This is blistering hot.
Underrated. Sounds like a 00s hit.
Theres nothing like forgetting about a good song, finding it again and it seems like you're listening it to the first time.
"I don't know if it is right to live this way" DESTROYED ME OMG
I can’t decide which one is my favorite...all the songs on Social Cues so far have been great.
won a grammy award , well deserved !!
I’m thankful you are on the radio
i randomly remembered the lyrics to this song and i haven't listened to it since november of last year, thank you insomnia for making me remember this gem.
Ahhhh love this freaking song! Windows down, breeze blowing my hair, music way the hell up!!! Hide me in the back room, tell me when it’s over...
It's amazing! Been in love with this song since April. I chose my favourite vice!! Now #2 on Billboard's Alternatives chart but somehow seems under the radar. A video would've been nice as it's a real bop.
Nick Christoforou yesss! Love it!!!
I was recently asked me to name 5 bands that I think gives insight to my personality or helped me thru a significant chapter in my life.
I definitely included this band!
good to know it helped others as well
Relatable

Best song in the album IMO. Cage The Elephant is a band that gets better as time passes.
I really like their old stuff, I feel like cage is getting kinda poppy?? Idrk i still love them but just prefer the old stuff
@@elliekennedyy Melophobia is probobly the best overall album for me but this albums high points I enjoy alot

i never saw a video of the band playing, but when I first heard this song i thought "man, this is how anxiety feels like". each time i listen to it on Spotify, i get so overwhelmed, like if i was put on a room with a thousand screaming strangers. i just saw a live performance, and i can feel that when he says "i don't have the strength to think twice, hide me in the bathroom" and he curls up on the floor, that he feels the same way. thank you, matt, you make me feel less alone in this world.
62yrs.....great stuff man!

Sofia Nevarez-Arredondo sorry man. It’s good you’re happy now
Hope you’re happy like this again!
Melophobia 02 glad you're happy this is one of the songs that always cheers me up too! :D
There is a reason why cage the elephant has the most number-one singles on the alternative chart of the 2010s
I love this song. I used to skip it because I didn’t like the beginning and I finally gave it a chance to listen to the whole song. I love it!!
A lot of songs releasing at once is overwhelming but this is great
Cage the Elephant is one of the few mainstream artists that I actually like.
MkNitara In the DC area they have been getting air play from the mainstream rock station DC 101 for years. They are one of those bands with cross appeal. The stations that focus on deeper soundtracks also play them.
MkNitara I recently moved to South Carolina and you can’t find any alternative music at all unless you have internet. Ugh!
This song is so soothing, calming, relaxing to me.... makes me just want to sway my body left and right and get lost in the music.... tonight’s been a night I listened to it over and over and over❤️ Much love
If you like this, please listen to ready to let go by them
Thanks 92.3 FM NYC. Love this song
I found Cage the Elephant by accident, I stayed on purpose.
Welcome the musical paradise

[Verse 1]
I think it's strange when people say
You're the next big thing, you'll never fade
The slightest touch, forced to fold
Sleight of the hand, modern gold
[Pre-Chorus]
Starry-child left behind
Choose your favorite vice
I don't have the strength to play nice
[Chorus]
Hide me in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I'll be in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I don't know if it is right to live this way, yeah
I'll be in the back room, tell me when it's over

[Post-Chorus]
At least you're on the radio, oh
At least you're on the radio, huh
At least you're on the radio, oh
[Verse 2]
Close your eyes, don't be afraid
Take some of these, they'll ease the pain
Live fast, die young, pay the price
The best die young, immortalized
[Pre-Chorus]
Starry-children left behind
To choose their favorite vice
I don't have the strength to think twice
[Chorus]
Hide me in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I'll be in the back room, tell me when it's over
Don't know if I can play this part much longer
I don't know if it is right to live this way, yeah

Literally all of their songs are bops
Best song of the album!
My local alternative radio station has an obsession with this song. I’m not complaining though.
That bass line is amazing.
New album Social Cues spectacular.
"Starry eyed children left behind." Real shit right there.
I will be in my room in complete darkness listening to this album on repeat if anyone needs me.
Frank Lester I will be doing the same
Hell yea I wanna invite
LETS DO DIS THEN FOR A WHOLE YEAR YESSIR
This song is about having social anxiety and hating human interaction
Really?
i think it's about more than that. i think it's about being famous as a person with social anxiety. people say "man at least you're on the radio" but they don't realize that that is what terrifies him.
Daxtro that that
I can relate, the anxiety and especially interacting with these snakes in the grass, people suck
that’s what i’m going thru right now, i hate forcing myself into this shit but my gf has friends and i’m just put in the middle i hate meeting new people and i wanna dump her bc i have such anger towards it
For the longest time, I swore he was saying, “Hide me in the bathroom.” I love this song.
It’s such a shame most people only know ‘ain’t no rest for the wicked’ when all their other tunes are so fucking good
.. song called ( FACELESS HUMMING BY THE IMPURES ) [] < i recommend the song its indie n New :)))...

Brilliant song about social anxiety. At one point Matt say’s “I don’t have the strength to do the twist”. Has there ever been a better line in any song or piece of art?
This song is amazing, can't wait to listen the whole album!
I loved them since high school. Bucket list concert!!!
at least you're on the radio.......!.....lovin this song!
my graphic arts teacher played this song in class.i am THANKFUL
At this moment how can anybody hate Cage the elephant.Group has everything. A trusty fan base
This band never disappoints me😭😍
omg this song is so good?? how could i never listened to them before?
I was literally driving to work and heard it on the radio. I purchased on itunes as soon as i arrived :)
Loved this at Riverbend Cinci, glad to seeBrad's daughter help him play and help Matt sing, is that what it takes him to come out of his shell? Whatever it was we all need more of this.
Sweet Tune, kool Group , Especially the Lead Guy in the Hat and Leather.
Like I get this. Ik the song is about the extreme social anxiety that comes with fame, but the feeling of wanting to hide and how it feels when people don’t recognize the gravity of your anxiety and emotions in general is an everyday thing.
Really great song and especially great lyrics, really relatable if one has anxiety and depression
I think the most frustrating thing about getting here this early is not being able to read over interpretations of the lyrics
I have Asperger's (a highly functioning form of Autism) and ADHD (the latter of which I take medication for), so this song has a special meaning to me.
Me too !
@@zackmanley2080 😊
Same, man
Lindsay Davis Same bro, except i don’t have ADHD but i do have autism and i’d relate to this song too
Also cause of the part “I’ll be in the back room tell me when it’s over” sometimes when i start crying in school i hide under a table which i call it a back room for some reason
and for introverts in general
watching shultz play this live is a core memory
so relatable every time I listen to this song it gives me chills.
Can't stop listening. So good!!!
Amongst everything else in this song, I love that hard, almost drummachine-like beat underlying it all. Great Dance-Rock. And in that respect, it reminds me of Pinback's song "Fortress" (2004). Nice boundary to blur.
gonna be listening to this album on repeat all summer
This song kicks ass
Music tends to replicate it self every thirty years
i searched for this song on youtube and spotify as “ah oohhh ooohhh ahhh” i was completely desperate but now i found it and i love it
A song hasn’t called to me like this in forever.....
Song of the year!
This is already giving me nostalgia for a past life.
I started listening to cage the elephant when I used to take drugs. Now it's over but still when I come back to their songs I feel warm, high, calm...
This band over all explains me so well
Cage the elephant always coming out with bangers 🔥
Gracias, gracias, simplemente hermoso.
Sé que será un álbum bien recibido, muy bien logrado, gracias por liberarlo por UA-cam para quienes no pueden comprar su disco por alguna razón... Son los mejores, me he convertido en su fan.
