Remember to begin with the oil at a slightly higher temperature, because when you place the corn dogs in the oil the temperature drops. Your oil appears to be too cool because when it's hot enough they cook quicker and they'll actually spin around as they're cooking! As the batter heats up and cooks it loses moisture and it's replaced with air, that air causes the cooked side to float to the top, so they'll constantly spin when the temperature is hot enough.

Coffee stir sticks are perfect to use instead of modifying bamboo skewers. They are typically 7" long (about 18 cm) and are flat like popsicle sticks, although they are not as wide.

Looking good. It didn't take me but one minute to realize it uses my normal texas cornbread recipe but I avoid adding any sugar. The corn meal alone is very sweet so I don't consider it necessary. Now all I have to do is figure out how to lower the carbs so I can enjoy a few of them.

Nice video. Homemade corn dogs are awesome and very tasty, and I use peanut oil for frying. I agree with using whole milk. It has a healthy type of natural fat, and has great flavor for not only corn dogs, but also for pancakes, waffles, potato soup, and for my Dairy Queen style soft serve ice milk mix (it technically is not ice cream because it does not contain enough milk fat, percentage wise, to be ice cream). I use this home made soft serve vanilla mix for a home made Blizzard with Oreo Cookies or other candy mix in. Whole milk is flavorful.

Oh my! They look delicious! And I have always thought that it was very hard to make homemade corn dogs. I had it pictured in my head as a disaster. I guess I was worried about the batter coming off every where. Thank you for clearing up the process for me and the recipe. You can bet I’ll be using this one bc I’m tired of the nasty corn dogs from sonic that are so grease soaked! Even the frozen ones are better than the ones at sonic.
