The M&M's thing was from Van Halen's rider. They wanted to make sure the promoters were reading all the (important) technical bits of the rider like "the stage weighs such and such, so make sure your floor can hold that". To check, they put in a bit about "no brown M&M's shall be found anywhere in the dressing rooms", so if they showed up and saw brown M&M's, they knew they'd have to check EVERYTHING because chances are something unsafe was also missed.

I think "stage fright" /nerves is pretty normal. If I wasn't nervous before going on stage I'd be worried, I'm worried about shit going wrong, I want the best performance possible for whoevers there. I think if you're not nervous you either don't care, or you're just not being imaginative enough about the shit that can go wrong lol
I got a free sticky bun from Amish friends on the condition I DON'T sing.
Also I eat soup with a knife & fork.
You need to distract your brain, I have anxiety as well and it's just from over thinking what could go wrong so I do mental exercises to clear my mind. Sometimes works, most of the time doesn't.
