I'm so heartbroken to hear the stories of abuse with the boys and girls of Laos. It's truly sickening that such evil exists in today's world. I really hope the victims were able to receive the necessary support to deal with the trauma. Thank you, Nat, for spreading awareness. We all need to stay vigilant to help protect each other. 🙏
So dad indeed that some people have the gutt to hurt innocent children. Hopefully with this we will be able to recognise the sign and act quicker to prevent it from happening again. Thanks for always watching the videos🙂
Great content, thank you for talking about this - it took an unexpected turn. Although the girls here are reserved in certain public situations, I've had girlfriends that were comfortable holding hands whilst walking around Vientiane.
I'm glad you meantioned about us LGBTQ peoples. I myself was dating a male in Laos, and both are Hmong. It's a different world when dating your own kind as well but both speak different sub languages that you were born in. Plus the affection and love culture is different. But I ended things because they would end up using me for money. Mostly, it being that he's from the city of Vientiane and they get influenced by people and social media. So they want more than what they want and he pretends that he can't find job opportunities but yet I see a lot of people his age finding or having jobs in the city. But overall my experience with him wasn't a great experience. He in the end was using me for money and he ended up wanting me to lend him money because he would not want me to spend my money to go places and spend it to buy food for myself or to do fun stuff. 😒😪
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. That's heartbreaking. I hope you'll be able to leave this all behind and move forward for a brighter day. And I hope you'll find a good one who deserves you. All the best, brother!
Sorry to hear about that. I am a gay man. I am not Hmong, but my husband is. Wonderful culture, great food, interesting language. I hope you find someone soon!
Good video thanks for the info and background. I've heard there is still major problems with human trafficking in the region and is still very bad in places like Cambodia, I know now they are also luring naive youth with a bit of IT to be slave labor in scam call centers in Myanmar and Cambodia, usually run by gangsters that have left China, it does seem to be less of an issue here in Laos as I think the laws have made it harder for human traffickers to thrive here. I can tell you walking unclothed in front of your kids is not normal in the US and I'm sorry you and your peers had to interact with that monster.
Thank you for the clarification. That's what I thought when I first heard him say it. Human trafficking is still going on in many parts of the world, in Laos still. Just a different way of doing it.
Thank you for the talk, even if it's not something that's relevant to my life situation it's always interesting to hear about different social conventions! Lao people seem so nice through your videos. I'm shocked to hear about the American man and so sorry kids had to go through it. It's disgusting how some people will even go abroad to do stuff like that. I know how it is also because we too usually mind our own business here and stuff like that could go unnoticed. Thankfully he got busted and rots in prison.
Truly sad indeed how some people are capable of doing such things. Hopefully we will be able to prevent it from happening again. Lao people are some of the most friendly. Since I started to travel I realised that this kind of friendliness is not what you'll find in every country you go to.
This is a very useful vid, I'm personally not looking for love when I travel. Or in general for that matter lol. But I do know many people travel for that sole reason. And thank you for always including us LGBT folk, you're like our ambassador haha
The unfortunate history of women trafficking in Laos is really sad I guess that explains why Laos women are rather coy and maybe to some extent, rather careful around people they dont know... Thanks for sharing these info, Nat.
Yes, and what makes it even more sad is they are too young to have their lives cut short that way. We only hope that education can help to prevent it from happening in the future.
I hope the weather gets better soon in Laos. It isn't fun or healthy to stay indoors for a long period of time. With regards to the useful information you provided, it will help many visitors avoid unpleasant scenes. Lastly, I'm truly grateful that you have shared your experiences with us. Truthfully, I would have been traumatised if I were in your shoes. Stay strong.
Thank you for watching the video. I hope it is helpful for many people. I'm glad I'm able to leave it all behind and move forward with life. At least the experience will teach me to recognise the sign when it happens again and hopefully I'll be able to save those innocent lives😊. The rain has stopped today.
@natnomad it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Don't stop. You have lots to tell us. Your experience will help many. Wishing you many more happy days ahead. Hopefully, the sunny days will stay for a longer period 🙏
That is terrible about Michael. He deserves to rot in prison. But you know what, child trafficking happens in the US as well. I hear news reports of boys and girls being abducted even in their own neighborhood. It’s terrible we humans do to each other for money.
Wow! I didn't realise it could be that bad in the US. It is really sad indeed that some people would do anything even harming and taking lives just for their own benefit.
Nat, what is the name of that Movie (true story) you. Mention. Can you please give me the name, thank you Also, thank you for your videos, very informative and helpful. Keep it up
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the talk. The film is called"ນ້ອຍ" English spells"Noy" which is the name of the girl. Unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere online. I remember watching it years back in an open space. It was free screening as part of the government's campaign to raise an awareness for the danger of being the victim of a human trafficking.
I’m not looking for a girlfriend or wife but I did notice how ladies seem very suspicious when I talk to them . This helps explain it. I’m comparing to the other countries around Asia

@@natnomad No one is "born gay". People develop their sexual preference at a young age from experience, environment/culture, indoctrination and/or puberty. Why did you leave the Buddhist Monastery?
@@retrotero76 no one is born straight or gay. You're only born as male or female. You develop your sexuality while you grow up, based on the factors I already mentioned (experience, cultural norms, indoctrination and/or puberty). Otherwise, show me a new born baby that is sexually attracted to anyone or anything? It doesn't exist. They learn and decide as they grow.

I’m not sure if the gay dating was about actually dating or you telling your truth. Either way very compelling story.
It is true both in general and my own experience.
hope to go on my next trip. enjoy nepal because it is NOT a sex industry destination.
Nepal is beautiful
Do lao younger women date older foreign men ?
I got no answer to this question because different people have different taste when it comes to dating.
Yes, for Lao culture, age is just a number. What is important is if you can take care of her. When you marry a Lao girl, you marry the family.
@BearBear1998 Thank you,good to know.
