Tell Me Why sung by Marie Knight (1956)

This is the origin of Elvis Presley's 1966 hit. In 1956 Marie Knight had a hit with it in the New Orleans region. Elvis heard it and recorded it in 1957, but it wasn't released then. In 1957 there were minor white hit versions by Gale Storm and by The Crew Cuts. The songwriter was Titus Turner.

Elvis' version was released in 1965 in the UK and reached number 15. The US B side of Elvis' 1966 release "Blue River" was a UK number 22 hit in it's own right in 1966. Just thought that you may like to know that
