Excellent post, thanks. great to see this GeoSilverAway. Miss Morgan's live version is almost identical to her studio recording of The Day The Rains Came. What a professional and a lovely lady.
Always remember this record....1958 we had not long been living in Toronto......sadly we came back to England after a few years.....so many records from 1950's still sound fabulous
Jane Morgan was the girl with everything, she had a magnificent voice, a fantastic figure and great beauty. She was also one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.
Wonderful technique. I love how she lowers her bottom jaw to control the sound output, putting no strain on the vocal chord and seemingly singing so effortlessly. And she did it constantly throughout the song.
In 1958 my parents bought a used RCA mahogany cabinet stereo. My mom would buy 45s (to you under 40 crowd these were small RPM records, not handguns) at the local Owls drugstore at 2 for a dollar. The Day etc. was one of them. Sadly, a lot of music today is all fireworks (literally) and very little vocal talent, though there are exceptions.
Jane Morgan was the sexiest female singer!!! Jane's mom (Olga) got to see Jane before she passed...must have been so proud of Jane...bauty and so talented she can sing ANY type of song...has recorded in 5 languages! I believe I have 95% of Jane's songs...inc. many made in England and France!
Her purity of voice and control are amazing. No one like her, ever. And a true survivor, as well as a lovely person from everything I've been able to find. See her recent gift of "Fascination" to her fans at her acceptance of the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with her husband, (recently deceased producer Jerry Weintraub) and Johnny Mathis, Sharon Stone and other notables present.
Happy 100th Birthday Jane Morgan.
wow!
Wow ...I didn't know until now that she was so beautiful...and had a beautiful voice
Kept Elvis Presley from No1 position when Jane Morgan sang “ The day that the rains came down.” In the U.K.
Such poetry in song and such movement with lyrics, never ever to be matched by anyone.

Jane Morgan lived a few years in Paris, so that dress must be an original by a famous french designer. Elegance par excellence !!!
It’s a gorgeous dress! It is expertly tailored to her figure!

Well, she was a formally trained singer.
