- The Mandalorian Cast Interview - Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers
With Disney+ and the Star Wars series The Mandalorian getting ready to launch tomorrow, I recently sat down with Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers for an exclusive interview. While everything about the series has been a closely guarded secret, Disney showed us about twenty-seven minutes from the first few episodes before doing the interview and I absolutely loved what I saw.
Without getting into spoilers, the footage revealed Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian is very similar to Boba Fett in that he doesn’t talk much, we never see him without his helmet, and if you enjoyed spending time in the Star Wars cantina in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, you’re going to be happy.
Obviously there is a lot more to The Mandalorian than what I got to see before doing the interview, but the footage was loaded with cool characters, new places, and creatures that I’d never seen in any Star Wars movie. Also, in the opening few minutes, I watched a character get killed in a very unique way and another scene revealed something I’ve always wondered about the Star Wars universe. Trust me, if you’re a Star Wars fan, you absolutely need to sign up for Disney+ to watch the series.
During the brief but fun interview, Pascal, Carano and Weathers talked about what surprised them about The Mandalorian scripts, why Star Wars fans are going to be very happy, how Pascal’s character doesn’t talk much and is a lone wolf, and a lot more.

Pedro pascal was well casted. He does an outstanding job as The Mandalorian. He brings the character to life and makes him very likeable.
I agree. His character reminds me of the character of Inspector Harry Callahan, played by Clint Eastwood. A man of few words, but boy has he got skills.

Its funny because when i see the show the voice i hear is not Pedro's but Luke Perry. Something about his muffled and more gruff voice in the show just makes me think i hear Perry's voice. This it not mean spirited or anything, i genuinely hear it like that.

Carl Weathers is super passionate about this series. I’m glad that he’s getting the opportunity to direct an episode in the second season. I can feel the creativity emanating off of them.

The Mandelorian is like taking Clint Eastwood’s "man with no name" character in his Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns and dropping him into the Star Wars universe. Love it!
that was Jon Favreau's intention, its a Star Wars version of a spaghetti western... as his interpretation of it and what inspired George Lucas was cowboys and samurais.
Also feels like Kozure Okami. Lone Wolf and Cub.

I watched all of the Eastwood Westerns so YEAH, you hit that nail on the head.

Also, after that catch Outlaw Josey Wales...not of THAT series but if the Man With No Name had been in the Civil War, it would have been Josey, who actually seems like a continuation of THAT CHARACTER, after he finally settled down, had a family, and then... also played by
Clint Eastwood and it is his finest hour, I might add.
@@karsu This, like Eastwoods movies, was also part of the inspiration. Though saying that is slightly redundant since Eastwood's movies were also often inspired by Japanese cinema. For example, A Fist Full of Dollars is a remake of Kurosawa's Yojimbo.
In other words, it remembered why people started loving Star Wars (A space western with samurai and not some dumbed down space soap opera with the cast of Degrassi the Next Rebellion). Mandalorian stuck with the correct aspect that works... good stories well shot and engaging, artistic awesomeness. My favorite show now.

Disney went their own way with the last Trilogy. I personally didn't like them., maybe the last one but it moved so fast it was close to sucking. With the Mandalorian I saw Lucas on the set with Favreau, also with Taika Waititi playing IG... I think Taika was observing how Lucas operated. He might get a chance to direct SW sometime in the future, I figure he wanted to emulate the feel of the old Star Wars. Personally I don't like what he did to Thor. He would screw up Star Wars some how.
I agree. I liked the Madalorian, I even watched the episodes twice. I didn't do that with the last trilogy.
Pedro is usually so talkative, expressive, and touch feely during interviews. He's so distracted by Gina, you can't blame him.
Carl Weathers is such an amazing gentleman- actor. Gina is a sweetheart, who's drop dead gorgeous, and Pedro is such likable stoic introvert. They're all such genuine people which reminds me of the original cast's demeanor as well. Excellent casting.

I'm in love with the casting for this series. Especially Pedro and Gina. They always put their heart and soul into everything they do.

Although Short, This was a good interview with equal contributions from everyone. A lot of the comments are about Gina's beauty. I agree for sure, but I was most impressed by her well articulated answers and accurate observations.

just watched the first season today. never was a star wars fan but started watching this series reluctantly because i don't have anything to do thanks to corona virus and I LOVED IT.pedro pascal nailed that character completely and gina is stunning and lethal as always. whole series is well made and i gave a 9.5/10

Empire supporter it tends to happen to athletes or people who work out a lot once they let go. Once they stop constantly burning fat, the body tends to keep it once it comes back. Although on the flip side, they can easily build muscle again once they get back on track. You’ll some body builders and lifters do that. They bulk up then work out heavy after.

I was so pleasantly surprised that Carl Weathers is in this series. I know he was in predator, but I didn't expect him to be in a science fiction series like this. But he fits right in, I love his role in the show, and it makes me happy he seems very passionate about it. Pedro Pascal has become one of my favorite actors because of Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and starring in Narcos, and I had no idea he was in this show until I watched it and recognized his voice, which was also a hugely pleasant surprise.
Love Pedro Pascal. And thank you Game of Thrones and Narcos for giving him the career boost that sent him to this series.
These three were so much fun in the show. Episodes 7 and 8 showing them together were just a blast.
I am not going to lie. I wept while watching the first episode. It was a return to the real Star Wars. Great writing, characters, casting, design. Please, please Disney don't screw it up!

For a while I heard Oberon when Pedro did interviews. Now I will only hear Mando/Dyn. I like that even when he starts talking more in later episodes his words are never wasted and he almost always gets his point across. But he’s also very obviously human despite being pretty stoic. You’re never shown otherwise. He’s just battle hardened and takes no shit from anyone. This show is all the best parts of Star Wars rolled into one.

Great to see the three people who saved Star Wars in an interview. I swear these Pedro, Gina and Carl could read the phone book and I'd watch it. This is a WINNING team! I would watch a trilogy of movies about nothing but the backstory of Cara Dune. She is amazing and ten times more awesome female hero than Rey could ever dream of being. Cara is one of my all time favorite Star Wars characters... and so is Greef and of course Dinn. I rarely fanboy out... but Mandolorian does that to me. I'm absolutely a fanboy for this show.

People that Worked on It: Because they're racist and sexist and should just get over that Star Wars is no longer for theirs! we were under no contractual obligation to respect Lucas we just let him think we did that's business.
