What You Can Find at Thrift Stores That’s Worth More Than You Think!

- Wow! People are discovering incredible finds at thrift stores and estate sales in the Seattle, Washington area, and we’re here to showcase their amazing bargains! We’re at Lander Street Vintage Market for this exciting appraisal fair, where treasures like diamond and gold jewelry, sparkling glass decanters, valuable engravings, and plenty of unexpected surprises await!
We kick things off with a stunning 1870s French clock and candle set, a cherished family heirloom that found its perfect home in a pastor’s rectory. Alongside it, we explore Alaskan gold, rustic 1910s furniture, and a unique collage created by designer Gloria Vanderbilt-each item holding its own fascinating story!
One woman shares her eBay find from 20 years ago, which has dramatically increased in value after the passing of the Mexican artist who created it. Young thrifters proudly display alligator purses, 1970s jewelry, and a century-old pipe stem, showing us that great bargains are still out there, with prices as low as $1! Another collector shows how manufacturing errors can bring uncommon value to common items we might otherwise overlook.
Family heirlooms also offer us a peek into personal histories, as pieces we’d never get to see cross our view…a pair of Argentine paintings found by a spouse on a 1980s backpacking trip, a 1791 gold coin from a Scottish ancestor and more jewelry delights bring happy memories of people who touched lives and left lovely things as reminders.
We love sharing these stories and helping people learn more about their treasured antiques and vintage finds. Join us for this fun journey into the world of collecting and the people behind these remarkable pieces!

Definitely thank her! Her jeans to this day are the best fitting ever. I pick them up whenever I find them in thrift stores and wear them. So I thank her - for the jeans. And I thank God for stretch denim.
But her son!!!! Oy vey!
Stretch is forgiving but it may partially contribute to our great size today. Obesity is huge today.
The Amanda jeans. Only ones I buy !
I too have learned much from you. Keep these videos coming. I love them!
I'm glad you're enjoying them!
So much Knowledge from George! I have learned so much over the years!😊❤

You are so welcome, always glad to share!
Love seeing young people interested in antiques and vintage ❤!
Me too!
So many young people! I’m happy that younger generations are getting into vintage and antiques. There is too much new, cheap quality stuff in the world. Love to you and Xeno xx
Me too, if only to give this old stuff new life!
Good evening, George. Yes! An appraisal fair 😃 Seeing younger people there is quite encouraging 👍 That French mantle clock and candelabra were fantastic. Loved the emerald pendant. Emerald is the _one_ stone that could make me go broke. I don't even care what the setting looks like. Those copper plate engravings were great. Love the maritime scenes. I liked the Gandia print. Mom used to have quite a lot of the eel skin pieces. My brother used to work for an eel skin dealer, so she had good access to it. I'd like to have one of those G-3 gold coins, without the hole drilled in it. Geez! Me and my beverage sets addiction...loved the German carafes. That Murano ceramic chimney blew my mind! That was a fantastic find and buy! The bronze donkey made me think that it might have been part of a Don Quixote set. That religious painting was super-nice. I like that sort of thing. It was unreal at the spectacular finds _all_ those people had! I'm sure you had a blast doing the appraisal fair! Thanks for allowing us to watch!
@@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS agree always so much fun😂😊
Hi there! Yes, it really is great to see younger people getting interested. Emeralds and rubies are my favorite gemstones! The Gandia print was a nice surprise, not so much like his usual work. Interesting your family had the eel skin connection, I remember my sister getting that piece in the late 1970s. It's so interesting (and sad) to think that at one time, people didn't think anything of drilling coins for jewelry because they were common then. The carafes were quite fine, and that Murano chimney was amazing! I think you might be on to something about Don Quixote, a very popularly made figure in the 1950s-60s. I'm so pleased I got to do this one, and share it with you all!
Thank you George, I had fun watching you today
Hi George. Love your videos! Do you ever do appraisals shows in Chicago are? Thank you!
I would like to do one there! Perhaps some antique mall or other group there will sponsor me to do one eventually
Always interesting

Great video, love the appraisals! Thank you!
I really enjoy those too, I’m constantly amazed at what people find!
Oh my the little bronze llama/alpaca (the tail indicates this but if the hooves are not split it probably is a donkey) is adorable!
Is there anything you don’t know? Amazing knowledge!
I don't believe so😂he's so knowledgeable 😊
Everything here looked beautiful and the owners seemed excited about their treasures.
Yes, I thought so as well
@janetpogue4970 indeed. No matter the monetary value, there's something to say about love for an object.

Thanks George❤ The Italian Chimney😮 Find of the day❤
So amazing!
Thanks so much George!!
Lots of interesting and beautiful items. My favorites are the Murano chimney and the bronze donkey. ❣️
Good choices!
What a fun show…thanks!
That Murano chimney just wow ! How did folks miss that ?
Thank you for the appraisal show ! So interesting 😊
I know, right?
Wow! How interesting those appraisals were. George, I live in Central NJ and we have a Rego Auction house in Lambertville operated by David Rego. Do you list monthly where you will be giving appraisals?
My next two are in Florida, Feb. 22 in Titusville and Feb. 23 in Largo
Anderson's book about the Vanderbilts was amazing. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful show as always !
Great show, thank you!
Thank you so much, George. Fascinating and fun, as always. The breadth and depth of your knowledge is astounding. Bravo!
Beautiful clock.
Question.
Many people overlook clocks...
What is your opinion on clocks, vintage and new
I have always liked them! Currently the market is for ad clocks and alarm clocks from the mid 20th century. Older clocks have fallen in value because people have the time at their fingertips in the era of cell phones, particularly grandfather clocks; but very good French mantel clocks from the 1870s still sell
George, it is so nice to be with u at a the Appraisal Events.
Congrats on the 800 people viewing this live ! We all enjoy these events, I think !
I missed the 1st part, I am glad it's a video I can now watch the begining 😊
I'm so glad you enjoy them! This was a good one
👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎. Hi George.
Hi, I live in Washington and was wondering if you are available to look at some antiques Im trying to sell and answer some questions. I’ve been watching your channel and am subscribed now! I really enjoy watching your channel!
Thank you! Please send pics to me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com and I'll try to help if I can
Thank Gloria for jeans that fit me well.
We are in Spokane, WA.
Hoping to do the Custer's show in the Fall of 2025!
The Modoc Company of Pennsylvania made metal polishings and belt dressings.
Thank you! That was the missing info.
Binge watching you George! Not a stalker. 😊
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoy the videos.
That debasement of the coins was called ‘coin clipping’
Clipping! that's right
My auntie gave us her jewellery before she died - she called it ‘giving with a warm hand’
I like that a lot
very interesting items. when will you be in the West Palm Beach area?
I plan to do the March, 2025 show in West Palm Beach
I wish I was closer to you so I could take an old aurora borealis amber bib necklace to you for appraisal. It is so unique and heavy it is beautiful. I’ve never been able to find another one like it.
Send a pic to me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com, front and back and any signatures please
We have a scrabble board with that error also and the wood holders for the letters. Was going to leave a post it note on the box to let my boys know what it is worth and why. They were born in the 80's but the game was never really used.
Cool! They seem to have made this error over a 6-month period.
Thank you for the information.
I wanna find that 340 thousand dollar Chanel Gemmed Cuff bracelet featured on Antiques Roadshow !!!!
It was so pretty
Bet that child was happy
Guerreri is a very well known name and large pieces are always uncommon. It always terrifies me to think about moving, shipping or transporting objects of this size. They have also made smaller ceramic objects, and it is still a name that remains in history because the company then closed in the mid 60s.
It's so cool she found it!
Hi Xeno
Interesting alligator and eel skin items. Scrabble errors cost points lol. You always score triple words in your videos, George!
As a long-time Scrabble player, that's a real compliment!
❤
Hi xeno george

* 🙋♀️ Good evening, to you, Lena!💜
Well as it isn’t live you’ll have to wait until tomorrow 😴
Help George or any viewers, I have an opportunity to buy a Treasure Craft Green Teapot with an elf on it, it doesn’t have a lid. I’ve searched google eBay and WorthPoint and can’t find one with a lid, there was one with a trinket box lid sold but that was from a different maker? Did it ever have a lid? Thanks
I've not seen the green teapot, and I wrote the book! But if it is a teapot (not a planter), then it had a lid.
That diamond sounds real as inclusions shows it’s real diamond , the bangle gold will tarnish as because of its woven style .
This dealers has not a clue !!!
Well I appreciate that information.
If you give someone a wallet it was traditional/ superstition to put money inside to attract more
A Guinea was one pound and one shilling even when the Guinea coin was discontinued people (posh people) sometimes still used the definition of the value for business. Sixty years ago when my parents bought me my first pair of contact lenses - very new at the time- the posh optician charged my dad 100 guineas which made the cost £105 - a lot of money then
My uncle gave his first salary which was half a sovereign to his maiden aunt which I now have
Oh how nice that you have that in the family still! I've yet to find a guinea for my collection
Before 1974, women could not get their own credit cards!
Newly divorced in 1985 I was trying to buy a new kitchen and the company asked if I had a husband to consult when the answer was no they then asked about my father, or brother to consult…..!, no I said it’s my money and my decision - and I decide not to buy from you……
It's so crazy to imagine that! How old fashioned. My mom always had them because my dad realized she was better with the money than he was
✨️✨️🤗🍉✨️🍉😳
🤗🇨🇦👍
They should give that back to Anderson Cooper. That's what Id do.
He’s probably got lots of pieces
@@lynnedelacy2841 I'm sure he does...LOL but that isn't the point.
@Karenmontreal I'm not sure he would have known his mother's friend back in 1974 to appreciate the personalization though
