  • Set your beginning percussionists up for success with today’s tip from the PAS Classroom with Emma Kieselhorst. Learn the best setup for practicing on snare drum pad.
PAS Classroom is a video series focused on quick and valuable tips and tricks for percussionists, drummers, music students, and (in particular) music educators. Learn techniques and strategies you can take back to your percussion classroom or performance in under three minutes. PAS Classroom is created and produced by the Education Committee of the Percussive Arts Society.
Emma Kieselhorst is a member of the PAS Education committee and a percussion performer and educator. A drum instructor at multiple high schools, Emma also teaches privately and will begin teaching the Bluecoats Front Ensemble and Rhythm X soon. Emma's main goal is to inspire the next generation of young female percussionists, and to create a safe space for women to feel comfortable continuing their education and performance opportunities in percussion.
PAS members have access to the many more resources in our extensive library at pas.org, and get a discounted registration to the Percussive Arts International Convention (PASIC), the premiere percussion event each year with over 100 world-class clinicians, concerts, new music debuts, workshops and hours of educator professional development. Give your students these benefits as well (plus an exclusive Masterclass) with a Group or Studio Membership.

And if you are lowering a stand with a pad or snare weight already on it, hold it by the basket, never grab the post or you can get a massive pinch when loosening that second bolt.
