Lowball offer? Welcome to Indiana. Another favorite of mine, with 20 years experience and 2 university degrees with honors, "we need to start you low so we can see your skill level." My skill level is on the resume, pal.
I tried to negotiate for a higher salary where i work but they reminded me of how many people out there looking for thesame job. I don't really have much of a choice. I have family and responsibilities. Instead of quitting, I started my investment career into the financial market which earns me more than my job salary.
That's nice. Investing is a stepping stone to SUCCESS, investing is what creates you wealth and wealth brings you assets and assets buy you freedom. One has to have other means of income apart from his or her regular job.
@@coga4822 poor management skills have been a major problem for investors, especially newbies. Therefore it is advisable to seek for professional help/advice.
I have seen people who trade the financial market and grabbing 4 to 6 figures from it. Can you give me a pointer on which market you trade and how you combine your work with trading. I'm very interested.
I just experienced this. I had to walk away from an offer because the salary was severely below Market and below the minimum expectation I had communicated to the recruiter when he contacted me. It was extremely frustrating because I feel that I was used just to fill out the minimum number of applicants that recruiter needed to produce and there was never a serious intent to try to hire me away from my current employer. I say all that to say that you have to know your Worth and be prepared to walk away from an offer that doesn't match what you're worth in the market. Not everyone is always acting in good faith in the hiring process.
If it is truly a low-ball offer and not just a little lower, then it is a huge red flag as CM said. They don't respect you, they don't value you and it is an insult. They want to get you on the cheap. No good can come of this and that will only be the start of your troubles there. Walk away.
I look at the big picture--not just wage/salary but whether the benefits are above what the industry typically offers. I also take into consideration where my skill set sits among others. If I get offered much lower than where I should be I don't even attempt to counter. It just indicates that either they are in financial trouble, hire warm bodies for the cheapest possible amount, advancement in pay and benefits is virtually nonexistent, or all of the above. Any company worth working for will offer what you are worth out the gate, and especially in this very competitive job market don't be afraid to decline for you are no longer wasting any more of their time or yours.
This works depending on who you are. Most companies are only going to give you what they want. If they do give you what you wanted Post tax then make sure it’s in writing. I got duped from a company. Lesson learned. Now if I don’t hear the salary I want, I simply walk. I don’t deal with liars. Because they’ll say anything. You look up and your check is .50 . Become self employed, no one pays like you want to be paid. So create your own and state your price to your clients if they say your prices are too high, that’s ok they can take a walk elsewhere.
The only power a job candidate has is the power to say 'No.' Be careful how you use 'No', but keep it in your back pocket. If you see anything in the workplace that bothers you, it may just be the tip of the iceberg. It may indicate serious problems you will face if you take the job. It's not about money as much as a good fit.
This just happened to me...where the interviewer insisted on a number/range. It posted the range on the site $25,000 diferential. I was a Lil annoyed that they insisted on a #. Now I have a 2nd interview and the # I said is my bottom line ...I am truly not interested in the low end ...drive time, cost of travel etc makes that offer even worse. Idk...not into games....we'll see what happens bur I will just stay where I am if I get lowballed
He is in jail after getting turned down by the company he had no other source of income so he started robbing and doing drugs he got caught while stealing 😦
Okay, I was in a similar situation when I interviewed for a state job. I knew in advance that the state didn't pay that great but it offered benefits on the backend, namely a decent pension. Long story short, I advanced far more rapidly there increasing my salary much more rapidly than I ever thought I would. After 10 years I was fully vested and now i receive a permanent pension payment every month. Seems like everybody is trying to look strictly at the salary which is important but perhaps the bigger picture is even more important. I'm fully retired, financially sound and walking down easy Street. Granted I didn't receive a great salary up front but boy I sure made up for it on the back end.
although this actually offered a lot of comfort, i'm wondering how you ended up on this video it doesn't seem that you were in need of the information in this video
If the difference is a few percent, discuss it. It is possible something besides a hefty paycheck can be compensated. An extra week of vacation, additional personal days, company car, working from home part of the time. If it is more, walk away.
Saw this video hoping it would give me some pearls of wisdom I didn't have when I was negotiating on an offer 20k below my current salary and market value. Sadly, it did not. I did what he said and it turns out they're just trying to find someone to work for nothing.
I’m a hazmat truck driver and if I try to go local is low and they say it set knowing I’ve been driving truck for 20yrs hauling all kinds of freight. How can that be handled since at this point I’m paid pretty well but also looking to be home every day if possible.
In Taiwan now many company not offer the salary. HR ask what your salary expectation and never tell you their salary standard. If your answer higher than what they can offer then they won't keep the process any more. Not even have a room to negotiate.
Good points! How about if I really want this job, but yes their offer is low, would it be reasonable to say ok I will accept your offer but can we have a review in 30 or 60 days of my work performance and revisit the salary topic?
I am seeing this after accepting an offer. I don't regret this very much as I would have If I wouldn't have negotiated actually I did and made my coat of accommodation a reason and explain how you see I work with perfection and dedication just if you can increase this atleast (I give a number bit raised) and she replied well jist start with this for now that's the most we can offer for now and maybe if we like your work in probation period after 3 month you can have what you have initially asked in the interview demand (more than my counter demand) Now I am confused as if after this probabtion it's a good raise or that they are actually trapping me for low and cutting of increment by telling you can have that after months I suppose then it should be more that as my initial demand was for the probabtion period. To be specific. I asked 45k PKR per month. Offered 35k PKR per month and then I as described counter demanded 40k PKR per month atleast and they close me down with the same 35K in the hope of getting 45k pkr per month after 3 months on which I agreed. Now I am just thinking would have been perfect If it was atleast 40k keeping that in mimd it is actually the most highest salary offered to me in mt life after getting freelance experinces. What do you guys think was that a good way or is there something shaddy?
Don't take the offer. They obviously do not value you and is a sign they are going to be a terrible place to work. Part of me wonders if they are going to make you work forced overtime to make what you wanted.
Please gives us a reply in a scenario where the market rate is low and they are not willing to give us what we ask??? and since we as candidates know the market rate is low and what they are offering is the best at the moment to work, survive and save....how do we answer even though the difference between what we had and what we are offered is less? Some companies quote their rates in the description....whilst some others done am speaking about companies that show the salary range in the description - scenario
What if the company is project-based for several months and all I have to gain is the experience needed for me for a career shift even if it is way below my previous salary, is it okay to accept the offer? Would there be any problems if I apply in a new company?
I applied for a engineering job, got to the last stage and was offered an internship for 3months with a conditional 1 year contract after the 3 months. At the same time I got an another offer and when i told the internship company, they mentioned i could check in to see what they can offer. How should i go about renegotiation, if i have already virtually accepted the internship, i haven't signed the contract yet? Their stipend is about 20% the fulltime
Great advice. Sometimes it's how we respond to the "What is your expected salary range?" question that sabotages talks on salary negotiation. Here's a video showing you how to answer this exact question: ua-cam.com/video/wPGmEEPIT6g/v-deo.html
During interview they asked me about salary expectations and I replied as per company standards sudeenly they offered 5.5lac but my previous company CTC is 6lacs then what would be our correct reply over there.
Job post tell that earn up to 35k so I apply. Got a interview and ask me what is my expected salary, I said higher than my previous job in a relevant industry . Got a final interview and still ask me what is my expected salary, but this time I ask what is the maximum salary for this job position they can offer. They say that the maximum is 35k, but it is base on the applicant experience. So I told them that please assess my job experience if this will meet your criteria. Ended up with a job offer that is very low (18k). Sad thing before the job offer they contacted me after the final interview and inform me that I pass. The recruiter tell me that they will give me 27k salary offer for approval. But before that they require me to pass a pay slip from my previous job. My previous job only pays 16k, yes one of the lowest salary I got since it is pandemic, I have no choice to accept that offer in that time. I think the reason why the Job offer is only 18k is because they base it on my previous job salary. But the problem is ,that job is not related to the job I am applying to, and it is a different industry. I am earning 25k on my previous previous job that related to the job I am applying to. Question is, It would be fair if they will base the job salary offer on my previous job that is not relevant to the job I am applying for? Also job post tells that they accept 12 months experience and 2 years is much better. I got a 1 and 1/2. Should I negotiate? The job position I am applying to is a specialist and the set up is a night shift. If you gonna compare it to my previous Relevant job, the set up is a day shift, job position or ranking is lil bit lower to a specialist, but they pay me 25k. Is it worth it if I still continue to this kind of company?
I got low-balled for an Accounting position and this 6 year old video just saved me! Landed a better salary offer. Hats off sir.
