This my favorite SH Monsterarts Godzilla. My favorite Suit of all Time. And the roar, lights and the music are soo classic... I know ist to much but I am very glad to get mine. And I will never sell him. His scale is for me no issue it's OK that my favorite Suit is taller then the others. And I don't like the paint job on the inscale version. My personal masterpiece... But I see why people skip it because of his pricetak... For me simply a no brainer. :)
I think that the 1989 Godzilla is a great figure if you consider two things: 1. This is a deluxe figure and as a general rule, deluxe figures are supposed to cost more than the average figure, but despite this, the 89 Godzilla doesn't cost that much more than other figures in the sh monsterarts line like Destroyah, or mecha-king ghidorah (and those figures don't even have electronic components inside them) 2. This figure has about 11 or 12 different features if you count off the different electronic effects separately, plus it is still super articulated and it has a beautiful sculpt. So all in all I think it's a great value for what it is.
Awesome Review as always! That light up gimmick is really disappointing I mean wow. And the paint job is just bleh. Bandai is just asking for way too much money for their figures now. Regardless if it's Godzilla or not.
I have the Bio Goji in hand, it's my favorite sh monsterarts, it's light gimmick reminds me of the film the way it lights up, the suits spines had a slight green tint to it so when it lights up it appears a greenish blue, I bet monsterarts did the same with this figure.
so I cancelled my order for $150 and thanks to a member of the Super Articulated Kaiju Collector Group posting that cd japan had it for $99.00 I ordered from them for $105 shipped thanks to some reward points I had from a previous purchase,I can live with the $105 price for this.
for mine i did some serious "fixing". I got the lights to be brighter, managed to make it louder, made the tail look more accurate or rounded like in the movie, and fixed the loose joints......the one regret in doing so is that i killed my wallet buying another one in case i failed
i think you my have broken some thing my mouth and plates are a lot brighter and don't flicker when they say on? also as for the paint it's much better than here ? but the sound it's no different. to note it does tell you in japanese not to over pull the head joint or it cause damage the head light. sorry just trying to help here
I am agree with you, the sfx feature could be done better... but At least I had a sabe when I preordered it on July because it was charged about $150 USD... still rather expensive.
Very disappointed with this. I was really looking forward to it but the effort was just not there. Biogoji is my favorite incarnation but the paint and poor quality of the gimmicks really ruin it for me. I might try and get it for under $150. By the way, are you planning on getting the 1/350 Max Factory Pacific Rim kits? They look to be in perfect scale with the X-Plus 30cm Goji figures.
Glad I cancelled my pre-orders on this thing. I don't know that I would go for it even at $150. That's still about twice as much as any of the previous Monsterarts Godzillas, but he's definitely not twice as good. Sloppy paint on a nearly $200 figure is unacceptable, and popping in a mediocre light & sound gimmick doesn't make up for that and the price increase, IMO. GMK Godzilla was absolutely fantastic, but even that I thought was a bit pricey at "just" $85.
Daikaiju Productions other then the roars being different really pay attention to the face and other body differences. Even though all 90's Godzilla's may look a like they all do have differences.
I'm no expert but basically the big difference that makes him more ideal is that his build is thinner and more "athletic", with a longer neck and less thick legs, as opposed to the 94 design.
Hi Steven! I am a bit skeptical for what S.H.MonsterArts i wish for christmas. Should i bet all my christmas presents on this Godzilla 1989 or should i bet my christmas presents on Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 2000 (special color) and Godzilla 2014 (Spitfire)SHMA figures instead?
Swedish Gojira fan 2000 I would go for 1989 due to the fact that later on his aftermarket price is going to sky rocket so I would get him now when he is still low
Or, if future value is not your concern, then go with the other 3 (though, combined, they will likely be worth more than this single figure). From the looks of this review, they are far superior (I own all 3). This review actually made me cancel my preorder. A huge waste of $200 from the looks of it.
äctually they are that much more then 200 dollars. Sure they are more but not outrages more. They would cost me 209 dollars plus shipping, but since Amzon has a sale on 1964 (I wrote the wrong year on my first comment) and 2014 so the price would be 189 dollars instead plus shipping. So they are around either less or slightly more then this one.
i see. But in your opinion Steven is it worth getting 3 regular SHMA figures then just getting the SHMA KKK 1989 (Not the racist organisation for the people that will read this) figure instead? I also might get a effect part's pack or not with these as well..
MFs tryna sell this for $300-400 smfh. Sounds like you'd have to reprogram the gimmicks yourself but at that point may as well make your own figure from scratch.
So, why is this almost $200 again? Does not seem worth it at all, even if it was $150. The gimmicks on this just make it seem like an overpriced kids toy.
As far as size, he is priced around what other figure of his size has gone for in the past. The gimmicks are pretty bad though. Gimmick for a $20 kids toy in a $200 adult collectible.
Honestly the main thing turning me away from getting this figure is the eyesore scaling. I understand they had to make the figure bigger in order to fit all the gadgets inside him, but couldn't they have just made a normal Godzilla 89 that's actually in scale? If they made their first Light Sound Song figure Godzilla 2000 or Godzilla 2014 or hell, even Godzilla 2016 I would've been happier.
I love how these $200 figures fall apart as you mess with them. _amazing_ Great product
I paid $138 for mine - $189 is too much considering the shortcomings. Good review!
didn't know Godzilla was apart of the KKK.
The more you know!
Tarkatan I guess they use lights for photoflash induced seizures, sounds to destroy their eardrums, and music to annoy the hell out of them.
Kool kids klub
Man I really like this figure and suit. Wish I could afford it though.
Adrian Avila me too bro. I absolutely adore it, but $200-$300 bucks is too much
This message goes to the painters: YOU HAD ONE JOB AND YOU SCREWED IT UP!!!!!!!!!!

We need a regular version of this suit
Then again this the first in the line so there's bound to be problems.
+EthanDino52 But this isn't Bandai's first rodeo. They've done light up figures and others with a bunch of gimmicks. Why is this one so meh?
Steven's Toy Reviews when will you review the sh monster arts gojira cause right now ITs out
+Umbreon Gamer95 what are you talking about?
Steven's Toy Reviews well i went to Amazon and there they have IT in stock
Umbreon Gamer95 aware talking about shin Godzilla?

+livingfreak I do see your points, but the problem is... It doesn't do anything it's supposed to do *well*.
I’m ok with the articulation because it’s exactly like the way the actor moves around in the movie.
Great review. Can't wait to get mine and get a review out myself.
+Godzillafanfreaks thanks! Did you get yours yet?
Steven's Toy Reviews not yet got mine from flossies gifts but should be here sometime soon.
Awesome Review as always! That light up gimmick is really disappointing I mean wow. And the paint job is just bleh. Bandai is just asking for way too much money for their figures now. Regardless if it's Godzilla or not.
Now it feels like their trying to cash on the franchise.

@@Xjp190 they've been trying to milk all their franchises man. You said it perfectly even 4 years back.
That Kong pose lmao!
I'm glad I only paid $150 for this, doesn't seem to be worth a penny more
+sciontc627 some might say it's not worth the $150.😐
Steven's Toy Reviews so I've heard,I still have time to cancel,I ordered from the state's,my guess is it will probably be cheaper later on Amazon
so I cancelled my order for $150 and thanks to a member of the Super Articulated Kaiju Collector Group posting that cd japan had it for $99.00 I ordered from them for $105 shipped thanks to some reward points I had from a previous purchase,I can live with the $105 price for this.
It’s my first S.H. figure, so I’m really fine with the articulation. Chant wait for the 62 Godzilla in January
Hey steve how much cost that kkk 1989 sh monsterarts godzilla?
for mine i did some serious "fixing". I got the lights to be brighter, managed to make it louder, made the tail look more accurate or rounded like in the movie, and fixed the loose joints......the one regret in doing so is that i killed my wallet buying another one in case i failed
How did you make the lights brighter?
i think you my have broken some thing my mouth and plates are a lot brighter and don't flicker when they say on?
also as for the paint it's much better than here ? but the sound it's no different.
to note
it does tell you in japanese not to over pull the head joint or it cause damage the head light. sorry just trying to help here
+rexon31 I broke nothing. I stated, and this is fact, some units of this figure are very bright and others dull.
I preordered one, but have been on the fence from the beginning, I think you convinced me to err on the side of nay
Agreed. This made me cancel my preorder as well.
Need to cancel my preorder before i get charge
I really hope they make more of these figures
well that's bandai for you. they hate collectors, out of scale both renewal for kamen rider anddd this.
Got it for 145 EMS shipped off AmiAmi with a damaged box.
+Nelson Mandela holy shit
Nelson Mandela
I am agree with you, the sfx feature could be done better... but At least I had a sabe when I preordered it on July because it was charged about $150 USD... still rather expensive.
Great review, I do want to buy the figure, but man!!! Too much money for semi good details.
You peeps r crazy I love mine
Greatest sh monster arts
my mom bought me this for Christmas she paid $145.99 so it was worth it
The 89 Godzilla seems to be unlucky when it comes to its teeth... The x-plus 89 sakai modelling figure suffers the same sloppily painted teeth.
Someone at Bandai Namco loves this guy.
Xj Productions Um bandai namco is the game company
Ghido goji I know that, it was a joke, a reference to Godzilla PS4.
Very disappointed with this. I was really looking forward to it but the effort was just not there. Biogoji is my favorite incarnation but the paint and poor quality of the gimmicks really ruin it for me.

+TheWolf185 For me, it wasn't a major disappointment since I'm neutral for the suit, but there are many in your shoes, sadly, so I feel for ya.
Paint kills this for me.
I like to pose him with the 8 inch bandai vinyls
The only shma figure that hiya cannot beat
Wait, I thought the shma biollante was the biggest one??? well maybe ghidorah 2019 but that hasn't even shipped out yet, but how big is it really???
I hadda cheez quesadildo for lunch

I never got the difference between 1989 and 1994 Godzilla designs. What is the big difference that would cause a 1989 figure to be in such demand?
Daikaiju Productions other then the roars being different really pay attention to the face and other body differences. Even though all 90's Godzilla's may look a like they all do have differences.
I'm no expert but basically the big difference that makes him more ideal is that his build is thinner and more "athletic", with a longer neck and less thick legs, as opposed to the 94 design.
love it
I want I a Miregoji in this line
At least KKK Godzilla scales well with Ultra Act Monsters, Monsterarts King Kong and maybe even Trendmaster's 6 Inch Zilla...
Do they sell the required batteries in store, in the USA, specifically Indiana
Cool concept but bad execution.
I swear I was wearing a pair pants before this video
+John Gomez, Jr. Hope you find them soon!

HOW BIG IS IT??
I feel like bandai was trying to one up neca 24 inch roaring legendary godzilla.
+Jesse Guajardo They might have been
+Steven's Toy Reviews hey man happy thanksgiving.
also do you when neca is going to release the shin godzilla figure?

batteries not included??
For safety reasons, no, but they're easy to get.
Got mine for $130
Does it come with the batteries?
+Predatorwarrior18 no it does not. They prove a safety concern when traveling internationally.
Steven's Toy Reviews I see. Thanks for posting a link for them.
