  • This video begins along I-95 at FL 704 / Okeechobee Blvd (Exit 70) in West Palm Beach, FL and concludes at Woolbright Road (Exit 56) in Boynton Beach, FL. Along the way, you'll see the recently widened and rehabilitated stretch of 95 through central Palm Beach County that is awesome to drive, I might add. :-) Hope you enjoy!

    @aswchris I think you're right on that. It widens out to about 12 or 14 lanes in southern Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. There have been talks about double decking it with express/toll lanes, but that has been met with a lot of opposition from local residents.

    @6V92TA Thank you! I was a little worried that the song might detract from the video since it has a lot of heavy bass in it, but after listening to it a few times repeatedly I thought that it would be a good fit.

    @Freewayjim Thanks! They may be a pain-in-the-ass to drive with, but I have to thank all of the elderly people who have retired to Florida for making that lighting possible. Almost every interstate, freeway, highway, and street in Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade Counties is lit like this due to their poor vision. I've got a couple of cool ones coming up, but I'm most looking forward to putting together the Downtown Miami and South Beach at night video. That footage looks awesome!

    @FreewayBrent I really appreciate this comment. Thank you! I fully agree with you about driving this at night. It's hard to explain, but I get a completely different feel for this freeway at night than I do during the day. I honestly think it's the excessive but appreciated lighting that does it. Deadmau5 was playing this song in downtown Miami on Saturday night. Holy shit, the bass from that could literally be heard back on Miami Beach.

    @Bryant5493 Thanks, man! The freeway lighting on this stretch that made this video possible is something I definitely wanted to showcase in this video.

    mega freeway. It has to be. I don't think you'll find many metro areas with a single Interstate being so important as I-95 is to South Florida.

  • @CosmoPhotography
    @CosmoPhotography  12 років тому +1

    Driven it many times, and you're right. Florida Highway Patrol likes to sit out there and nab speeders, so I try not to take the Turnpike if possible.

    @interstateruler I filmed this just after the sunset at around 8pm (give or take about 10-15 minutes).

    @georgiaroadgeek I have a couple of BGS templates that I made in GIMP (a free but better Photoshop alternative) that I use depending on how much info I want to present. The placement of all the street names, exit numbers, signs, etc. takes place in Apple's LiveType software that comes with Final Cut Express.

    @aswchris You're absolutely right, Chris. The South Florida metro area stretches over a very narrow but extremely long strip of land flanked by the ocean on one side and swampland on the other, so there isn't much room (or need) for beltways or east-west freeways. There is the Turnpike (running along I-95), too, and also I-75 and other three-digit freeways and tollways, but none connects so many key parts of the area as I-95. And the Turnpike is a tollway, so some SF residents tend to avoid it.

    @AlvinHDavernport LIke you said if traffic cooperates, the ride down to Miami is really nice. During the day, it's a different story, but I enjoyed flying through Dade and Broward Counties at like 1 AM.

    Great work. There is quite bit of lights at night. What time did you filmed this?

  • @FreewayBrent
    @FreewayBrent 13 років тому

    @AlvinHDavernport: I think it has a lot to do with what Evan previously mentioned; it's a very nicely lit freeway that feels spacious (and thus, invites speeding). It also has just enough curves to keep things interesting enough.
    Really, you think Houston drivers are bad? I found most of them to be pretty mellow, to be completely honest, but I guess driving around for 3 days (mostly during off-peak hours) isn't really enough time to really gauge things.

    One of my favorite stretches in the country to drive at night. I don't know why--there's nothing particularly outstanding about it, yet it just feels right (right, Brent? :) ). And if you go all the way down to Downtown Miami it's even better, although you'd be looking at a 1-hr+ trip, depending on the traffic.
    And yeah, Florida drivers are bad, but they ain't got nothing on Houston drivers in terms of insanity levels, to be perfectly honest here.

    it's a long road without any curves, how can you drive under 80mph out there? I would've fallen asleep if it weren't for the awesome palm beach scenery xd

    Hey, somebody will tell me what it's called the first five seconds of music in Miami & South Beach Night Tour or I-77 Charlotte, NC (1 To Exits 11A) Please answer
    P.S oh and awesome videos:)

  • @CosmoPhotography
    @CosmoPhotography  13 років тому

    @keithjohnson20988 Thanks, Keith! That's actually an FDOT police car that pulls over trucks that are violating some state restriction. Florida Highway Patrol and local cops tend to leave I-95 alone since everyone is always speeding, and it's nothing less than a rat race out there.

  • @AlvinHDavernport

    @FreewayBrent Sorry I missed this! As far as Houston vs. FL drivers goes, I find Houston drivers to be pretty decent while on lower-grade roads/highways. But once they get on the freeway, they start to look for the most insane ways to put your and their lives in danger. You'd think otherwise, given how freeway-dependent Houstonians are.
    And yeah, it helps that I-95 in SFL is well-lit, curvy, spacious, and busy 24/7. It also helps to know that you're driving parallel to the beach

  • @FreewayBrent

    Pretty sick ass editing; probably the best in the road filming genre. I have to say, this freeway is actually more interesting to drive at night, vs. the daytime (if that makes any sense at all?)
    I don't remember those flyover ramps at Exit 69B, leading to Palm Beach Int'l Airport.
    Great beat too; made the video feel quite intense to watch, lol.
