BEAUTIFUL POETRY DAVID!!!... I believe one of the things about poetry that we love so much, is as you said; ..that it so often takes us, 'just beyond ourselves'..which is, 'where we all so need to be'..Even 'long' to be..Most especially when it is into the beautiful!!! The heart has an inborn longing for beauty!!.. Beautiful words and phrases.. images, sounds and sentiments.. heart-filled ways and deeds.. That's why the heart soars in beauty's fair presence; ..and unfolds it's once hidden wings there, to fly... ( Starting at 1:23 of this lovely creation.. when the piano poured in; with the wide open, blue, Irish sky, ..and the contrasting craggy dark cliffs of the coastline, appeared with the sea swirling by.. my heart took to wing, for it's journey!!!
I was just listening to this poem on the Waking Up app this morning! I heard this a few years ago and it sunk in. I took a quiet confident leap into the unknown, and can confirm, in return I was rewarded and restored, and my world grew tenfold. I'm so grateful for David's poetry! "Half a step into self forgetting, and the rest restored by what you'll meet".
I have heard the story of your retreats with John and it inspired me to be more generous with my friends, thank you. I hope in a few decades I can sip tea with them and remember great moments we spent together ! Thanks
So many times in life , we are pushed harder than we think that we can endure. Some how when we push hard enough we can see ourselves out the other side. As my husband passed. I could see no future then I found a pink heart shaped rock ... seemed like a sign from the universe. This is not the end. Silly rock showed me the way. How odd
